31. ALARIC MACINTYRE

The tent was empty, not a single soul in sight. Books were stacked neatly on a desk of sorts, a special place in a corner reserved for armor, swords, basically artillery for battle, a makeshift bed in another corner, Kendra went outside, but the kind giant was nowhere to be found, and it was almost morn, but there was still a little bit of darkness in the skies. She felt excitement seep through her bones. She could go through his stuff! Nobody had to tell her twice. The female-beta went through the general’s stuff in a rush, trying to find anything that could give her a hint as to who he was. She needed to know how she was going to interact with him after all… and if she could obtain some information concerning the witch in the process, she told herself that maybe, just maybe, she’d start believing in the gods a little bit more, and so she ransacked, and ransacked, until she heard a low deadly, “Who are you and what are you doing in here?” The words caused her to freeze in her

32. THE WHITE WOLF

Killian cursed for what was probably the hundredth time in that morning alone, maybe the thousandth, even. Damn humans and their many festivals! Everywhere was blocked to maximum, a real human traffic all around as naked men ran around, lashing elite, proper women of the ton… women of rank with shaggy thongs, simply because they had been foolish enough to believe that they who were barren would become fertile, and they who had managed to make it to pregnancy would have a safe delivery if struck, courtesy of some silly Lupercalian belief. If that wasn’t one of the craziest things Killian had ever heard, he didn’t know what else was. It was almost eight am, almost six hours after he had discovered than Kendra had snuck out on her own, and the Alpha was worried… for anything could happen in that long period of time. As it was now he was just praying that she was safe, holding herself up like he believed she could. The thing was, even with that belief, he was still afraid that she’d do

33. AIYISHA VON STERLING

She needed to think! And fast if she wanted her head still fixed on her shoulders in the next couple of minutes, Or she could kill him? Now that was just another death sentence waiting to happen, because his soldiers were close, there was no way she was going to make it out alive. What lie could be convincing enough for the general to trust? She couldn’t believe that she had let her anger get the best of her like that. She had had a nice thing going, and then she just had to ruin it by slipping out of character at the least chance. And now the General wasn’t going to trust her again. Hell, even she wasn’t going to trust herself anymore at this point. As it was now, she had two choices, Come completely clean and risk dying anyway, Or try another lie and hope to the fucking heavens that she didn’t blow it to smithereens this time around. She decided to go with the second option. “No my lord, I am not a maid,” She admitted, taking on a more regal, elegant looking stance as she

34. ALPHA JOFFREY

It didn’t take Killian long to realise just how unprepared the Dnakle pack were for any confrontation of any kind. They were a small pack, for one, and comparing them to Alaric and his troupes of over ten thousand soldiers, they didn’t stand a single chance. The news he had brought with him had already travelled across the small town like wildfire… how it had he had no idea, since it was only Aiyisha he had spoken to, but there was no telling that the people had just about given up. Aiyisha had brought him to the Pack’s throne room, another large, extravagant place, plushly decorated in hues of gold and diamond, to see her father… because as Alpha of the Pack, it was only prudent that he be made aware of the situation. Killian couldn’t help but be surprised though, for their Alpha was like nothing he had in mind. For one, he was old… very old, and for some reason, he was still holding on to power even though he had a more than capable she-wolf to take over when he retired. The Alp

35. HIS ORIGIN STORY

Two days had already passed. And Kendra was already bored to death. Alaric was treating her like the true lady she had claimed she was. She had everything at her beck and call… everything that would keep a lady truly entertained, but she only fantasized about training with the soldiers instead. She watched them longingly each time they practiced, making sure to only do so when Alaric was nowhere in sight. She wasn’t going to do anything to blow this second cover this time. When she wasn’t doing some embroidery, she was reading, and when she wasn’t doing that, she was helping Alaric draft letters to his Queen, or doing some other thing like that— basically things that only stimulated her brain and not her combatting senses. This was truly starting to feel like the worst idea she had ever had. “Artemis!” It took a bit for Kendra to recall that that was her new name now, and when she did, she jumped up with a start. What had she done now? “General Macintyre!” She called back, ris

36. BACK

The she-wolf pulled away at the feeling, a look of confusion gracing her features. What the hell was that? For one, her action had been highly inappropriate for a lady of the ton. The werewolf society didn’t particularly care about harmless physical touches like that, but humans assessed everything critically. There was also the fact that she was supposed to hate this man with a passion— and she did, or at least she tried to convince herself that she still did. But when she had hugged him, offering him her silent sympathy, mostly for the young boy he had been, and what he had had to go through at such a young age, what she had felt had confused her greatly. It felt like nothing she had ever felt before, and she could have sworn on her life that it had happened only because she had touched him… hugged him.Did he feel it too?If he did, he made no indication of it, apparently too overwhelmed with grief.Even though Kendra sympathised with the general— understood him even, she felt like

37. RUN, FEED

No. This couldn’t be happening. Not when she was getting closer to Alaric Macintyre… not when she was just starting to regain his trust. What was she going to do? “Artemis?” Her heart skipped a beat at the mention of her fake alias from behind her tent. The General wanted to see her, but for the safety of her secret identity, she contemplated letting him in, trying to come up with or some excuse to keep him away even. She didn’t know any more if it was safe for him to see her, scared that he would find out who she really was. “Artemis, are you in there?” She heard him call out again. Taking a deep breath, she hollered, “Please come in, my lord,” The first thing General Alaric Macintyre realised when he stepped into the lass’s tent was how distressed she looked. He was by her side in a minute, his scary blues analyzing her as his mind struggled to guess what had unnerved her so. “What is it, Artemis,” He growled lowly. “Did anything happen during your sparring session with Pollio

38. MURDERER

Kendra woke up with a splitting headache, groaning softly at the uncomfortable pain. It was bad, but not as bad as yesterday’s had been. The last thing she remembered before the pain had become too unbearable was struggling to prevent her wolf from taking over. No wait. Her wolf had taken over. Kendra shot up with a start when that thought registered in her head, a weird feeling of trepidation completely taking over her as she touched herself all over to see if she was okay. She was. She tentatively felt for her wolf in her head, MM, SATED. The she-wolf sighed deeply in relief, but for some reason she thought of Killian giving her a very disapproving gaze. He had warned her about all of this after all— told her that her decision to continue with this quest was quite reckless and stupid, but had she listened? No. She found that she needed him around her to balance her impetuousness out. He was always there for her to prevent her from making reckless decisions after all… but this

39. THE CONVERSATION

Aiyisha stared at the bronze colored, handsome Alpha training with the other males in her pack, and a light blush covered her cheeks at the wild thoughts that had been flicking through her head. She had never been grateful for anything in her life, but she was one hundred percent grateful to the fates for bringing Killian into their lives. You see, for a long time, the she wolf’s life had settled into a routine. She spent her whole life training for a position that even she knew deep down that her father would never hand down to her simply because of her sex… she trained so hard, got so good at it that the male wolves in her pack were mostly no match for her, and all felt intimidated by her, they mostly avoided her like she was the plague. Thankfully, she got along just fine with the other she-wolves in her pack, but she couldn’t help but desire Aphrodite’s blessing... she just wanted that special connection with a male. And then fate rought this handsome hunk into her life. Now,

40. THE FAILED SEDUCTION

Nighttime came too quickly for the blonde haired she-wolf. She was nervous, and you’d be too if you had decided to move onto someone who was intimidating in every sense of the word. Aiyisha hadn’t seen him since noon when she had watched him practice, and that night, for the first time since Killian joined their pack, she didn’t have dinner with him. She needed to get ready— in every sense of the word if you know what I mean. And so she took extra care to make sure that she applied the foul smelling paste one of the she-wolves had recommended to her all over her body— apparently, it got rid of all unwanted hairs, leaving everywhere smooth and neat. She bathed in a mixture of sweet smelling oils to get the foul smell off her body. Everything was fresh and clean by the time she was done— her body clothed in a lovely white dress, so tight and skimpy that even she found it surprising that she was still able to breath, her face smoothed and paled by powder, her lips coated a deep shade
