Chapter One

Eighteen is supposed to be special for us girls.  Especially us girls in a werewolf pack.  It marks us becoming an adult, when we are finally able to find our mates.  That is exactly how I felt waking up on my eighteenth birthday.  However, that excitement, the special feeling, did not last.  My life was perfect, I was Emily Ravenport, daughter of Alpha Eric Ravenport and Luna Aria Ravenport of the Crescent Moon Pack, and in my parent’s eyes I could do no wrong.  I woke up that morning excited with the prospects of finally finding my mate.  I had been waiting my whole life for this moment.  It would be special, our scents would hit each other’s noses, our eyes would lock, and we would just know.  Mates.  Tonight was the mating ceremony, tonight I would find my mate and I already had one person in mind: Jackson Ledger.

Chapter Two

My phone rang as I sifted through my closet, looking for something to wear. “Happy Birthday Bestie!” Sarah, my best friend, exclaimed“Thank you! I need your help, it’s a fashion emergency!” I laughed as I turned my camera view to my closet, “what do I wear to a mating ritual?” “Well my dear friend, you came to the right person.”  she squints her eyes looking at outfits I pull out.  “Mating rituals are normally basic.  You will be shifting, so the less clothes the better.”  “Yes, but I still want to look hot!” I remark.  “It is my birthday after all.”  She laughs at me shaking her head.

Chapter Three

Two weeks later….. I am still not sure how it happened.  It is all a blur to me, the mating ritual, the heat.  The whole thing seemed like a dream, more like a nightmare, one I still can’t seem to wake up from.  Everything and everyone I had ever known had been ripped from me, and now I am forced to live my life as a Sigma, a slave to the pack.  The once highly respected Alpha’s daughter, now nothing. Everyone has been making my life harder too.  Sarah is constantly finding ways to torment me.  I was assigned to work as a slave at the Beta house.  I start at five in the morning, and leave around ten at night.  I never have a day off and never have a break.  The only thing that makes this somewhat bearable is my new friend Lindsey.  She has been a godsend through al

Chapter Four

I quickly hid in a room to the side of the stairs.  They never used this room much for anything, it was across the hall from Beta Michael’s office.  I knew this house like the back of my hand, Sarah and I had spent many days running through these halls as children.  The door to Beta Michael’s office was closed, which meant he was in a meeting.Just then, the door to the room flung open, and Jackson walked in.  “Well, well, looks like we have a little spy here.”  He moved closer as I backed up against the wall.  He had an angry grin on his face.  “You like what you saw?  That could have easily been you if you wouldn’t have rejected me all those times.” His grin disappeared and pure anger took its place.“I-I-I di-didn’t mean to, the d-d-door-” I stuttered out.

Chapter Five

Lucas’s P.O.V.“Calm down Lucas.”  My wolf, Jace, yelled at me. “We just need to regroup and re-strategize, not everything is lost.”  He was always my conscience, much like Jiminy Cricket.  He always knew how to reason with me and calm me down, without him I’d be lost. “How can I be calm, I wasn’t supposed to find her here, I wasn’t supposed to have a mate!” I run my fingers through my head as I pace back and forth through the gardens at the Cranston Estate, the home of the Beta and his family.  I was invited to dinner tonight as a guest after our meeting had ended.  Having the respect of both the Beta and the Alpha will make my plan go a lot smoother, at least this will mean that neither of them will suspect anything and my plan will play out.  Right now, it is very

Chapter Six

Emily’s P.O.VThe dinner went smoothly, until I saw him at the table.  I fought everything I had to keep my cool and do my job.  Serving a family that was once my equal, or better yet, below my status, is humiliating in its own right.  But, to have my mate see me at these low standards is just plain out torture.  Goddess only knows what he is thinking of me right now, especially with how he ran out of the room earlier this afternoon.  I struggled to keep my need for him down.  My face felt heated, I had a hard time concentrating on anything but him.  That’s when I noticed what had just happened. As the desserts were being brought out, I was pouring the tea when I heard a scream.  Before I had a chance to notice what ha

Chapter Seven

Lindsay’s P.O.VThis is it.  I knew as a Sigma, my life would probably be short, but for it to end this early at a mere 23 years old? Eh, I guess I lived enough.  The police threw us into the back of the car, they weren’t very gentle at all, but what could be expected of them? We were Sigmas.  We almost got away with it too, it would have been epic.  Steal all the food to feed our own? But it is what it is.  I couldn’t blame Emily for moving.  Though I am still unsure what had gotten into her.  She seemed really bothered by Sarah and this Bryce character.  I know she hated Sarah, that would be reason enough, but it was if she was almost jealous.  I glanced over at Emily, she was sitting with her head down and her eyes closed.  “Hey chick, it will be oka

Chapter Eight

Emily’s P.O.V. “Get up!” I heard a voice yell out to me.  This voice was different.  It wasn’t off in the distance, in the crowd of people surrounding me.  It was closer, as if it was a part of me. “GET UP!” I heard it again, this time it was more stern.  I used all the strength I had left in me to push myself up.  I wobbled as I stood.  “Steady now.”  I heard the voice again, this time in a calm gentle manor, almost like a mother speaking to her child.    “Look, everyone is staring at us.&nb

Chapter Nine

I can see everyone’s faces.  Their looks of astonishment, fear, jealousy, and anger.  The way my pack turned on me. I remember my wolf.  Zara.My eyes shot open.  It seemed as if it all could have been a dream, but was it?  I sat up, feeling a little weak.  “Woah, not so fast!” I heard a female voice. I looked around to see where the voice was coming from but I was alone.  “You won’t find me out there,” the voice said laughing. “Who are you?”  “I am Zara, your wolf.”  She must have felt the shock that had taken over me because she began laughing.  “I know what you’re thinking, but E
