Chapter 11

Trevor drove out of hangar thirty-one. He knew what the Ferrari could do and what it couldn’t since it used to be his up until six months ago. Thanks to Christopher losing his temper by slugging Derek, who he assumed was having an affair with Selena. The only way to keep Derek from pressing charges against Christopher was to sign the Ferrari over to him free and clear.            But, Trevor doesn’t cry over spilled milk. He bought the red beauty he was currently in at first sight a month later. The car took turns better than the Ferrari anyway. It was at the straight away he had to be careful. The Ferrari could gain speed quicker than the Bugatti. All he could do was hope Derek still raced like a timid rabbit.            He heard Derek roaring on his heels. He whipped to the side

Chapter 12

Friday couldn’t arrive fast enough as far as Joanna was concerned. However, it was Wednesday and Trevor hadn’t called at all. She was wondering if he had lost interest. Courtney had assured her that guys don’t call immediately after the first date.  It wasn’t something to get too concerned about unless he stood her up on Friday.            Joanna couldn’t keep her mind off of him. She’s had a crush on him for two years, but it was never intense like this. She was now engaging with what her heart desired most. Something she thought would never happen. Joanna had checked her phone every two hours to make sure she hadn’t missed a call from him. His touch and kisses were imprinted on her memory and they played over and over again no matter what she was doing.

Chapter 13

Courtney’s aunt’s costume jewelry really did look real. Some of the pieces were too gaudy for Joanna, but the majority of them were her style. She had put on a fake diamond necklace, bracelet, and clip on earrings. It went perfectly with her blue cocktail dress. Courtney had pulled Joanna’s hair back in a costume diamond crusted butterfly clip. Then she had curled Joanna’s hair at the ends.            The cab stopped in front of The Rainbow Room. Joanna got out of the cab after paying the driver. She walked inside. There was no sign of Trevor in the waiting area. Seconds before she decided to sit down, Trevor came through the door.            Joanna greeted him with a big smile. He looked so handsome in his gray silk suit and black and white patterned tie.

Chapter 14

Joanna had put on a yellow sundress she has owned for a year. She had only worn it once. She had packed a beach bag with a two piece bathing suit she had only worn once a year and a half ago, sunblock, a make-up case, sunglasses, and a large beach towel. Joanna had a large straw floppy hat she had bought at a discount store in Queens a long time ago. She wasn’t going to put it on until she got to the marina.            She was waiting on Courtney to call her to let her know that Trevor had left the estate. The last thing Joanna wanted was for him to accidently see ‘Clarice’ getting into a cab outside of the gates.            There was a tapping at her door. Then, it opened. It was Courtney. She was holding the newspaper.

Chapter 15

A month and a half later . . .             Joanna’s fears of chasing Trevor away because she wouldn’t sleep with him on the yacht six weeks ago were unfounded. If anything, he was more attentive to her. He called her at least three times a week and they went out twice a week. It would have been more if it wasn’t for her working full-time and going to school part-time. The past six weeks with him had been the happiest of her life.            For their fourth date, they had gone back to Floyd Bennett Field Raceway for some fun. Trevor raced two rich cocky teenagers and won. He got a thousand dollars each from them. Their fifth and sixth date they had lunch at the Four Seasons. After the sixth date, she had stopped counting. But, during the last few weeks t

Chapter 16

Trevor had a harder time finding a Friday night fuck than what he had first thought. Sharon’s, Sherry’s, and Mandy’s numbers were disconnected. Abigail, Debbie, Linda, and Katie didn’t return his texts.            He was on the eighth girl.            “Hello?” she answered sweetly.            “Bebe, it’s your favorite man, baby,” he said happily.            “Paul?” she said with excitement.            “No!” he yelled with disgust. “It’s Trevor.”          &n

Chapter 17

Trevor had woken up at five-thirty in the morning and he couldn’t get back to sleep. It had been hard for him to fall asleep to begin with because Clarice was on his mind. Then when he had been asleep Clarice and her dainty feet were tip toeing through his dreams.            He had given up getting some rest and got dressed. After putting on a pair of gray shorts and a blue tank top, he went downstairs. The kitchen staff wasn’t up yet so he fried himself two eggs and four slices of bacon. He also made himself toast.            Trevor only ate half of it. For some reason, he had lost his appetite when his mind went to Clarice again. A longing struck his heart. He missed her, which was ridiculous to him since he had just spoken to her Thursday. Today was Saturday. It had only been th

Chapter 18

Joanna was in Selena’s penthouse in the city. Selena had given Joanna a key to her in the city home last month. Selena had said if there was an emergency or if she got there before Selena did for their meet-ups, Joanna wouldn’t have to wait in the lobby.            She was in the bathroom pulling her hair into a ponytail when she heard the door open.            “Whew, it is scorching out there,” Beverly commented.            “I know. That’s one of the reasons why I left little Chris at home with the nanny,” Selena said.            “How are the men of Hudson, anyway?” Beverly asked.    &nbs

Chapter 19

Yesterday was the first time Trevor had gone to bed with a hangover. But, being the half glass full kind of guy he was, he saw it as a good thing. At least he got the hangover out of the way. When he had woken up, he only had a slight headache. Trevor had rung William to bring him an icepack, aspirin, and his hangover juice.            William had been making his special hangover juice since Trevor was a teenager. He had made it for Trevor’s father when he woke up from a hangover after a night of playing poker with his friends.            Trevor didn’t know what was in it and he didn’t want to know. But, whatever was in it did the trick within an hour when using aspirin and an ice pack with it. When he finally felt like he could walk without hurting his head, he took a shower

Chapter 20

The past five days with Trevor had been wonderful. Joanna was on cloud nine. So much so, even Selena had noticed her happy demeanor.            Joanna was in Selena’s bedroom at the estate watching her put on make-up to go out with Christopher for dinner.            “I have to say you seem very happy for someone who had a horrible fallen out with a friend a week ago,” Selena said as she applied eye shadow on her lids.            “I am, but it’s for the best. Surely, you understand why I cut Beverly off,” Joanna said.            “I understand completely. If it was Christopher and I was in your shoes, I would have gotten mad as he
