Chapter Fifty

Annie felt more confident with her new hair colour. It was still styled from her trip to the salon earlier in the day so all she needed to do to get ready for a dinner with Chris was change clothes. Annie put on a black knee length dress that she felt matched her new hair colour. Annie decided she would arrange to go shopping with one of the girls one day in the next week to get some new clothes to match her new hair colour. Annie lightly did her make up, she was going to a rather fancy restraunt and feared being underdressed, she had never been one to live an expensive life style before and it was a big adjustment for her. She had never really had to worry about her bills, but she didn't have enough money to pamper herself like she did now. Alexander had just given her a debit card with no spending limit. Annie hated thinking about how he got this much money, but she hoped it was of semi legal means despite her doubts. Annie got an uber to the restraunt and when she arrived Chris wa

When Chris arrived at headquarters he quickly made his way over to Alexander's office. He greeted people as he saw them go by, it seemed everyone was attending to their usual duties which rose many more red flags to Chris, he couldn't think of a single reason that Alexander would be ignoring Annie so cruelly immediately after she had moved in. Something was off and Chris was determind to find out what. "Why have you been ignoring Annie?" Chrris demanded the second he walked into Alexander's office. Alexander barely looked up from his work. "I've bee busy." Alexander brrushes off. "I have a lot of paperwork." Chris shakes his head. "That's bullcrap, you have the same amount of paperwork as usual unless there is something I don't know ab

Chapter Fifty Four

Annie had been waiting for Alexander for hours. It was at least 3am and she was starting to lose hope. She hadn’t quite given up, her body was exhausted but she had a hot cup of coffee in her hand as she sat on the uncomfortable chairs in the kitchen. Annie had never realised how uncomfortable they were until now. Annie was grateful for the hard seat bellow her that helped her stay away for hours on end. As Annie sat, she thought. She thought about that day when Alexander confessed his feelings to her, she remembered the look on his face as he exclaimed his love. Annie couldn’t help but feel a put in her stomach grow as she wondered if his feelings had changed. Annie knew she had taken a big risk when she offered herself to Alexander, in a way she felt ridiculous. She knew Alexander could have anybody he wanted. Annie feared she was letting Alexander control her, even though that was the exact thing she had hoped to prevent by leaving his house. Annie knew Alexander was a busy man,

Chapter Fifty Seven

Kaylee was waiting for some news. She sat at home waiting by the phone. It had been hours now since she broke into Alexander’s house, she was surprised at how crappy his security system is. Once you get past the guards, which was easy considering they all knew her, there were no other challenges that came at her. Kaylee was angry that she hadn’t yet been informed. Even Mason was still at home asleep. Kaylee wondered if maybe Alexander was asleep and she would need to wait til morning, however he doubted that. “What are you still doing up?” Mason asked as he groggily walked into the living room where Kaylee was sat waiting. “I can’t really sleep,” Kaylee looked down at her lap. “The nightmares are back.” Mason looked at her sympatheticly. Mason and Kaylee had grown closer. They had both lost loved ones and that made them closer. They were now apart of a club that neither one wanted to be apart of. “Do you ever dream of her?” Mason asked, sitting next to Kaylee on his sofa. Kaylee lo

Chapter Fifty Seven

Annie woke up to Kaylee’s phone call and was instantly on edge. Kaylee refused to tell her what was going on, it was the second call in under a month that left her feeling uneasy and on edge. The last one had made no sense but at least this time she knew who had been calling her. Annie had never been great at waiting, nor being in the dark. Annie had lived a sheltered life which meant she knew very little about the world around her. Annie knew even less about the darkness of Alexander’s world and so this new feeling of fear was unknown to her. In her head everything was safe until now when it seemed everything fell apart. Annie stormed to Alexander’s office only to see everybody there. Instantly she knew something was wrong. She had yet to go downstairs to discover the artwork that somebody had thought the walls needed to be complete. “What is going on?” Annie demanded, she was sick of being treated like a child who needed to be protected from everything. “Nothing.” Everyone said.

Chapter Fifty Nine

Annie immediately rushed to her bedroom under the pretence of excitement. Instead she was rushing to call Kaylee and get some answers. Everybody would not look so grave and secretive over some silly holiday, she wondered how Alexander thought it would be an appropriate time to take a holiday. For weeks it had seemed that Alexander could not spare a few minutes of the day, he had barely even slept, and now he was proposing a holiday. Annie wanted some answers but it seemed that nobody was willing to give her any. Annie had hope that Kaylee would be different, so far Kaylee had been open and honest in Annie’s mind. They had started to grow a friendship and Annie hoped that would mean Kaylee would tell her what the hell was going on. Kaylee had less loyalty to Alexander is what Annie assumed, it’s one of the things that made Kaylee so easy to talk to. Kaylee hadn’t been working for him for years and so Annie hoped this would make Kaylee even more likely to spill the beans. As soon as An

Chapter Sixty

Everybody was surprised to see Kaylee arrive at Alexander’s house. They were all on high alert and Kaylee’s unexpected arrival made her instantly a suspect. Kaylee had been expecting this, but the accusation on their faces made her feel hurt. Even though she was the culprit she was hurt to find they really would suspect her if she gave them any small reason to. Only Mason seemed understanding and happy to see her. Their friendship was something she knew she wanted to nurture and she hoped that it would become a real friendship, it already felt like one. She hated lying to him but after their conversation earlier she realised it would be a mistake to tell him the true. “What are you doing here?” Cindy demanded, standing between Kaylee and the stairs. Kaylee frowned, Annie wasn’t downstairs which would have been the most helpful thing right now. Kaylee already had her answers ready but she made sure she looked truly shocked and slightly scared, she hoped she had pulled it off before sh
