Chapter 31 - Skinny Bones

A week had passed like a blur, they collected two bags of my blood each day and every day Sage would provide me with human food to gain back my energy in order to produce more blood. I was living no less of an animal in a cage. It’s been days, I lost count. My life is coming to an end, I could feel it. I am slowly losing my powers. I can barely heal myself from the bruises and open cuts made by these sharp chunks of metals wrapped around my skin.    My bones are already visible; my skin is now filled with wrinkles like an aging human. I can barely see clearly, the surroundings appeared to be blurry and dark. I presume my eyeballs have shrunk into my sockets by now. I probably look like shit.    I licked my cracked, dry lips and swallowed the lump

Chapter 32 - Safe

I woke up in silence because of the strong pulsing of my head and the aching of every muscle in my body. A groan escaped my lips as my gaze landed on my body. I was covered in a soft, thick duvet that has gold, laced designs on it that makes it look so expensive. The bed was soft and comfortable; it made me want to sleep more.    With my lips parted in awe, I glanced at the interior of the room. There was a crystal chandelier hanging at the center of the ceiling. The walls were high and painted in beige. There’s a wooden closet and some statues as decorations. The ambiance screamed of extravagance.    No running rats and flying roaches here, only the still silence and chirping of birds right outside the huge, parted door which I assume

Chapter 33 - Vampire Blood

The wheels in my head started running the moment Cassius barged inside my room with that question. The expression on his face tells me that it’s going to be a long talk. With the furrowed brows and pressed lips, he looked bothered.    His voice was low and gentle, “Feyre,”    “What is it?” I asked with my brows knotted.    He strode towards the glass door of the balcony and closed it. That’s when I noticed that there’s a snowstorm outside. The white, crystalline snow kept striking the ground. I saw how the bright flash of lightning had struck the sky, creating some cracks across the heavens.

Chapter 34 - Reborn

Days passed by in a blur. Even my sight is blurry, like everything is in motion. My head is spinning like crazy and the vampire blood isn't helping at all. I winced in pain when I tried to remove the shreds of dead skin on my dry, cracked lips. I’ve been drinking vampire blood for almost a week now. It made my skin crawl, my throat parched and my eyesight blurry. It's like I'm being tortured before my death. My body has grown skinnier.    “Your bath is ready, my lady.” Said Lilana, she's a servant here in the castle and she doesn't really talk that much. I figured she will only speak when she's being asked or when you give her an order.    The weather was as usual, cold and damped which is why a warm bath is just perfect. Lilana escor

Chapter 35 - The Music Room

Being with Cassius wasn’t as awkward as I imagined. He has told me about my past self and to know that we’ve been together for years, I just couldn’t get a grasp of it. It seems so unreal. I mean together with a vampire prince, really?    Maybe that is why I feel the most comfortable around him. He is actually very caring and warm, and also fun to be around with. It made me think that there are some vampires who are capable of being good and sincere, not the deceiving kind like the ones I treated like my friends.     “Lilana,” I called her, wrapping the robe around my body. Droplets of water were running down from the tips of my red strands. The steamy water was just perfect for my cold skin. Now that I am reborn as a

Chapter 36 - Mother

“Breathe,” An elder woman instructed, holding both of my hands as I tried my best to inhale and focus.    “Mother, I’m scared.” I stared at her with teary eyes.    “Don’t be, I am here.” She caressed my long, red hair gently.    I closed my eyes and felt the surroundings. The sound of the swaying trees along with the cool air and the chirping of birds filled my ears. We were standing on a vast field of green; with flowers planted around us, decorating the empty field with their beautiful shades and fragrance.

Chapter 37 - Rosamund

A smile immediately stretched my lips upon stirring awake. I had a good sleep, I guess. I turned to my side to see the bed empty, the sheets were crumpled.    “Cassius,” I looked around but the room was empty.     Then I heard someone on the balcony. I got up from the bed and walked barefooted. I'm pretty sure I remember him falling asleep last night with me, in the bed. He looked so tired from work; I wonder what he had been taking care of the whole day. He still managed to get up early.    I saw Cassius leaning on the stone rails of the balcony. He was having his usual cup of coffee.

Chapter 38 - Escapade

Cassius disappeared after our talk. I was surprised that he has now allowed me to take tours around the castle but only if I’m accompanied by Lilana. So I agreed and now, we are taking strolls outside the castle.    “Can you take me where Rosamund is? I heard she’s in the forest to bury her rabbit. I want to see my daughter.” I couldn’t help but to smile at the word that just rolled out my lips. I have a daughter now.    Lilana seemed surprised for a second, “Of course, my lady.”     She led me to the maze garden. A few minutes later we arrived at the far exit of the maze. There lies a rusty gate which L

Chapter 39 - Smoke and Fire

I saw two men dragging Rosamund by her arms. There were six of them in this narrow alley. The fact that these vampires dare to even touch Rose made my blood boil instantly.    “Rosamund!” I called, struggling to wiggle my arms from this man’s grip. There were two men with me. The other man was busy tailing us, a cigar placed between his fingers; he looked younger than his friends. He was a look out, watching people who pass the alley making sure no one dares to walk in.    “Quiet!” The stranger exclaimed, extremely pissed.     I glared at him when his grip tightened even more. If only I had my power right now, this

Chapter 40 - The Queen of Syrr

It was early in the morning when my bedroom door busted open revealing Rosamund with a smile stretched on her lips. Her wavy hair fell down her waist elegantly, swaying along with her beige dress that fell shortly at her ankle.    “Good morning, mother!” She greeted me with a cheerful tone.    A chuckle escaped my lips when she jumped onto my bed beside me. I raised the duvet to let her in under the warm sheets. I heard her giggle and moved closely towards me.    “Morning to you too, princess.” I replied with a smile.    A s
