Chapter Twenty-Two

Chapter Twenty-oneLagos, Nigeria.Pat watched as the car the gang were in turned off the road to join the other side of the road heading towards Ikorodu road, he wondered why the occupants in the car in front of him decided to change destination. The driver of the taxi too turned off the road and followed them, making sure that there were two cars in-between them. He decided to find out what the gang members were up to, before calling his boss. They merged onto Ikorodu road, and drove on, in the direction of the third mainland bridge. Suddenly, the car they were following veered off the road, to a side road. Pat’s driver followed and they kept going till the gang’s car stopped in front of a store.“Keep moving” Pat said, as his driver attempted to stop. The driver drove further down the road, and parked about one hundred and fifty metres ahead.“Turn the car around” Pat said, and the driver

Chapter Twenty-Three

CHAPTER Twenty-three“Boss, it seems like the gang members are beginning to suspect that they are being spied on” Pat said. Danny shrugged. “Well let’s see how it goes, we would continue with our plan, and hope they don’t change their minds” Danny said. “So have you gotten the Police on board?” Pat asked. “Yes they are on board, and we would be on ground with them, you would have to stay in the hotel, and wait for the gang to make their move” Danny said. “Sir, what if they sweep their suites, and remove the devices like they wanted to just a few minutes ago?” Pat asked. “Don’t worry, we are using a passive surveillance device, so there’s no way they can find out if they are being spied on, because there’s no spying device in their rooms, so even if they sweep their suite, they would not find anything that can point t

Chapter Twenty-Four

Chapter Twenty-FourRodriguez and the rest of his team stood around in the sitting room of their suite, getting their ammunitions ready for the operation. They had swept the suite earlier, but they could not find any spying device, so they had decided to stick to the theory that the couple only found out about their maid being an accomplice, and about the spying devices installed in their home, accidentally. Rodriguez had shrugged, and had told them they are better equipped than the police, so even if the police know about the planned operation tonight, they would not be able to do much to stop them. He loaded magazines into his M4 rifle, he had earlier put two 9mm Glock pistols, each with a silencer screwed onto it, in a pouch on each shoulder, he also put a six inches knife in a holster built into his jean trousers, he then took a pair of night vision goggles from his suitcase. After arming himself, he put on a Louis Vuitton jacke

First he and his boss would have breakfast together in the little Italian restaurant in Queens, like they always do the morning after a killing. He got out of bed, and did a few stretches, before going to the bathroom to have his bath. He sat under the tub for quite a long while, allowing the hot water to cascade down his body, while he thought about the operation that took place thousands of miles away the night before, and how they would recover the paintings and sell them at the artfair in Rome. He was sure that the operation had been a success, because Rodriguez had never failed to carry out any assignments they’d given to him, hence his decision to transfer the remaining fifteen million dollars immediately after the operation. He thought of the fair in Rome,
