Chapter 70

Dylan's POV   I had walked into the Lycan's castle feeling jittery and scared, with thoughts of failure ransacking my head. Despite the fact that it had taken me twelve days to think of a plan to bring Hillary back, the plan had looked so good but not without flaws. The only sacrifice was me. Kelvin and ivanka had later volunteered to join me in what seemed like a suicide mission.         As for Checkmate, his job had been the most difficult. He had to escape from the council room, navigate the map of the huge castle and get to the clinic to try to rescue Hillary. That plan wouldn't have worked without the help of two external people who had volunteered to help.        One called himself Hugh and volunteered to be the mole as he was a guard,

Chapter 71

Hillary's POV      I woke up to the sound of chirping birds and neighing horses.  I turned over on the bed and I was greeted by the sweet song of a bird which made me open my tired eyes.         "Oh my!" I said with my eyes and mouth suddenly agape as I watched my blue naped mornach hover around me.         "Sweetie!" I said in excitement as i sat up and grabbed it.         I embraced it and shut my eyes as tears appeared. I couldn't believe it. How on earth was Sweetie in my arms?

Chapter 72

Hillary's POV  I walked out of the shower with a towel wrapped around my body and hair.      My stomach whined and cried loudly which made me walk over to the basket of fruits on my reading desk and pick out a green apple.        I stared at the mirror at my front and my eyes caught something on my bed.      It was the red flowery gown, Madam Turi had given me, the one that belonged to Lord Saints late mother.          I turned around slowly and walked to my bed. My heart instantly sank as I picked it up and stared at it.       "Oh

Chapter 73

LORD SAINTS POV   I was at the stream, a few miles away from the castle, watching the running water ripple and crash against the giant rocks.      This had been my favourite spot since I had been little. My father had taken me here on my fifth birthday and had told me the story of how he and my mother had met. Although, they had already been fated to each other, they had met each other at the stream before the official meeting.        The last time I had visited the stream with my father, he had said something which still stuck to my head.      "Not every boy ages to become

Chapter 74

HILLARY'S POV   I matched into the packhouse with my heart thumping loudly in my chest and my mind wavering with bothersome thoughts.        How could Dylan think of kicking me out of the pack? It was certainly not possible, but that was what I would have said if I had also been told that Checkmate would be a fan of my sister.             The main living room at the down floor of the packhouse was empty which made me wonder where they were having their so-called ceremony.          I didn't wonder for long as the sound of a firecracker which came from faraway, towards the late Jordan's house, made me awar

Chapter 75

LORD SAINTS POVThe next few days had been stressful and exhausting as I had struggled to successfully get rid of the mob outside the castle and bring peace back to the land. It had also been six days and I still hadn't heard a word about Hillary nor Madam Turi which made me more frightened than furious. Callus Lockwood whose fright made him diligent in imposing the task I had given him had assured me of results soon and I was stiing down on my council chair by 6:30am, yawning and stretching after sleeping briefly for the first time in weeks, awaiting him. As I had expected, immediately the hour clocked 7, the door to the council room opened and Callus Lockwood was standing before me. "It's nice to see you so early, Callus." I remarked He bowed. "You demanded my presence early so I had no choice but to appear as you requested." Although I knew he wasn't happy doing his job, I still appreciated his seriousness and devotion. "Have you performed the task?"

Chapter 76

Hillary's POV After leaving the ceremony, I decided against going to the packhouse as I was trying my best to avoid meeting anyone. And I didn't also go to the garden because I didn't know if Checkmate was going to be there or not. So I went to the stables instead. There, I spent my time checking out the beautiful horses and ponies in an attempt to forgo my troubling thoughts. After an hour, I could no longer resist the urge to think about what was going on, so I went over to a large pile of hay and I settled on it. Heaving a loud and long sigh, my mind wandered through the shocking events of the past few days. I still couldn't believe that no one but Dylan and Checkmate wanted me here. And the worst thing about it all was that I hadn't even done anything wrong. In fact I was the victim who had been lured away from my pack and into Stone city by my lunatic sister who was now being adored by the same people I had once seen as my new family. I scoffed

Chapter 77

I felt like all the blood in my body had been drained out as I watched the bloody and battered nurse in horror. "W-what is this?" I asked myself. The old nurse slowly rose her head up and I jerked back in fear of what I saw. Her face was swollen and red. If I hadn't looked properly, I wouldn't have recognized her as she had several deep cuts and bruises on her face. I didn't even know when I began crying. "What's the meaning of this?" My heart broke the moment she managed to give me a crooked smile from her bruised and wounded lips. "H-hillary!!" I couldn't control my emotions and neither could I contain the flood of tears running down my pale cheeks. "H-how are you?" She struggled to ask, trembling. I couldn't do anything at that moment but weep. "Don't cry for me, Hillary!" She pleaded. "Things like this happen sometimes…" She chuckled painfully. "....by the way, I'm already too old. It's time to kiss this world goodbye." "

Chapter 78

HILLARY'S POV I snuck out of the dark basement and unto the repair area, where I saw something which wrecked my already shattered heart further. It was Dylan's favorite furry handkerchief. It was placed on one of the damaged machines; he must have left it when he had come to see Madam Turi. Honestly, I felt like shedding tears but doing that seemed unprofitable and unhelpful to me. So, I swallowed my saliva, taking in courage and moved on towards the slightly ajar iron entrance door. Getting out of the stuffy, dark and bloody building seemed to calm my troubled nerves a little but it did very little in easing my burdens as I still felt like hell. I didn't know what to do and as I stood erect in the blazing hot afternoon sun. I immediately regretted promising to rescue Madam Turi as I had no idea how to go about it. I started off, walking slowly as my mind pondered over several matters, then I began to walk very fast, then slowly, I began to jog and soo

Seventy Nine

Checkmate's POVI had never seen Hillary so annoyed, disoriented and depressed and the fact that I wasn't by her side made it worse for me. I was short of words as I watched her take off without looking back. Had I lost her? I asked myself. If I had indeed lost my only friend in the world, what was the reason for our seperation? Was it good enough to toss away my best friend? The answer came quicker than I had expected. No!!! It wasn't good enough. It was even close to reasonable. I had to find a way to mend things with Hillary before she gets rid of me. But then how? I definitely couldn't be on her side? There's no way I could support her for fighting against her sister. Even though I was supporting her fully in my mind as I wasn't a fan of terrorism, I couldn't come out with it… it would immediately ruin every chance I have of becoming a gamma or an omega one day. My dream of becoming the greatest warrior beta would be tossed into the mud if I ev
