Chapter 7.5

"Mate bond?" Asked Megan.  It hurts to see her friend cry. This was far worse than what she had seen since Serena's parents died. She had known that bhe could stop her emotions, but to feel this level of anguish was more heartbreaking.  "A mating bond is a connection between two fated mates," Lem said. He was seated at the table near Serena and Megan. "Were and Alter Beings have what they call their fated mate. It is the one person for them. The one who would complete their soul, their other half. It's more than just marriage. It's an entirely different thing." "Of course, even if you are true mates, it doesn't mean that it cannot be forced. There are times that it grows. But those are rare." Wayne added. He squatted in front of the still crying Serena. He was goin

Chapter 8.1

The minute they entered the Middle Eastern and African territory, Rooka's pack gave a deep sigh of relief.    Rooka and Serena didn't return to the bedroom to sleep. They fell asleep on the place they sat down. Serena was still on his lap while his arms were around her. Wayne draped a blanket at them to make sure they were not cold. Whenever Serena would whimper in her sleep, Rooka would automatically rub her neck.    And all Wayne could do was guard them even if he knew they were safe.    There were so many questions he wanted to ask, but if Rooka's hold of emotion was too thin, it would cause a massive ripple resulting in Serena having a nervous breakdown. To think his Alpha just lowered the barrier for a second, caused Alpha Daire to have an outburst, what more if the whole damn barrier broke?   Don't think too much. I can still handle myself. Rooka said on their mind link. I could

Chapter 8.2

The jet landed at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. They had their private docking area, and it made traveling easy.  The door of the passenger side opened, and twins stepped out, Beth and Mac on their shoulders. They were followed by Kaz and the twin bears. Megan stepped out of the plane, then Wayne, then Rooka. When Serena stepped out of the plane, something inside her clicked.  There were people waiting for them.  Khalid, Seraphina, and their daughter Rowena were beside them, behind them there were at least twenty men, wearing khaki shorts, and T-shirts. All of them bowed when Rooka reached the ground, and said, “Welcome back, Alpha Rooka.” Rooka felt the collective presence of all his people the moment his feet touched the ground. He could finally breathe easily, at the same time, Serena would have an ample bodyguard with her. He grinned, although, from the way he

Chapter 8.3

Dahab is the central city of the Middle Eastern and African Nations. It is located on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, approximately 80 km northeast of Sharm el-Sheikh.    This was a city where every kind of Were Beings is welcome. Ever since the treaty was formed, Dahab was the only city where Panteras, Ursa, and Lupine Beings could mingle with each other. Even the business buildings were co-owned by two or three different Were beings. Hence, the Alpha of the Region was guarded.    That is before Rooka was the Alpha… and Wayne was his Beta.   Humans were a common visitor to Dahab. It was a perfect place to relax and be near the Gulf of Aqaba where you can explore almost 100 different kinds of coral species and 800 kinds of fishes as well as

Chapter 8.4

Rooka, Serena, Megan, Rowena, Wayne, and their parents were in Khalid's office, the twins excused themselves, and Kaz had to do something too. The twin bears were back at their house to rest. When Rooka became the Alpha of the Region, he told his father that he could keep the office. He would rather meet his people in their houses, and if they cannot do that, there was a small office he used that was in the Manor. It was the perfect setup, if Rooka wanted to intimidate people, his father's office was the perfect place for it.  "Your father knew that they were going to die, Serena," Khalid said when everyone was seated.  Megan was beside Rowena who was having a glaring match with her brother, Wayne. Seraphina was on Khalid's lap, while Rooka was leaning against the

Chapter 8.4

"I'm sorry, Uncle Khalid…"  "Serena, you are my son's mate, you can call me father," Khalid said.  There was an uncomfortable silence after that statement. The mated pair knew Serena was their eldest mate, but the younger ones were unaware of it. "I know," Serena replied, her voice still scratchy from the way Rooka almost choked her. She cannot fault him with that. It was her stupid behavior that made him be on a defensive mode, still, it was not right to shout at his parents too. Wayne on the other hand was mad as hell. He was aware of his brother's pain, he understood where he was coming from. But to lose control and hurt Serena?  "W

Khalid wanted to talk to his sons but his mate stopped him. They were grown men, and if they want to ht each other senseless, he should let them. He sighed, Rooka and Wayne might not be blood brothers, but the love between them was strong.    “My love,” Seraphina said, “Rooka was not expecting Serena to be alive. The bond snapped, and we cannot blame him for the anger he had shown. If you were in his shoes what would you feel?”   Khalid was silent, the thought of losing his mate drove him crazy, he took a deep breath and said, “I would have done the same thing.”   “You should then understand what he went through,” Seraphina looked at the two women on the sofa. One was sporting a dark bruise on her neck, while the other one looked like she wanted to kill someone. “Serena

Chapter 9.1

Scotland A man in his late fifties looked outside his office window. He was dressed in brown dress slacks and a blue polo shirt over a white laboratory coat. The scene outside was unseen as he was worried about the daughter he hadn't seen for more than a year. Mido Rodriguez sighed, it was hard for him to work when he was worried about Megan. Mackenzie Daire was killed, he thought, as a sudden pain flared inside him.  The man or Alter Being that subjected to his experiment to understand their lineage better was killed, no, he was murdered. And so was his mate. Mido wearily rubbed his forehead. The deaths of the oldest dire wolves were a blow both the Weres and the Alters were

Chapter 9.2

There was a stillness in the air that alerted Rooka and Serena. The wind stopped blowing, and every living creature stopped making any kind of sounds. The two Alpha were aware that something was about to happen, both senses were on high alert.  Anyone who would see them would think they were just out for a normal scenic hike, and the way Serena sat on Rooka’s lap would think there was more to it. However, it was not the case. The minute the wind suddenly died meant a predator was near. In this case, it was more than one. At least thirty men clad in black SWAT-like clothes were slowly surrounding the Alpha pair. Each of them was carrying a double-edged sword on their back. They might be Weres but without some kind of extra boost, they wouldn't be able to transform any part of their body.

Chapter 9.3

Rooka hated using this particular ability. To anyone who had watched, 'Avatar, The Last Airbender,' would tag him like a goddamned 'earthbender.'  He wasn't. The ability to manipulate the earth was an ancient form of battle that was passed down from one son to another. Wayne could also do the ability but, since he was not a direct descendant of their line, he could only do the basic forms. Like Alter Beings, certain Were Beings could wield power; however, this said power chose their bearer. It was nature's way of controlling her people. Whatever they also had would be taken away from them the moment darkness began to cover their hearts the ability would vanish.  Rooka could feel Serena as she watched his movements, from the way he whipped his feet across the ground to the sudden appearance of the spikes that impaled their opponent. He could feel her fear, and he couldn’t blame her.
