Chapter 1

"Rena!" A voice pulled her from her mussing. When Serene~Rena for her friends~ Daria looked at who was calling her, it was her mom.  Celeste Daria looked at her only daughter and smiled. As the only Alpha Female of the last line Were Dires, she never expected to have a female child who hates going out. At the age of 37, she was way past the stage where eligible males will notice her. And she like it the way it is.  "Mom?" Rena removed her headset and looked at her mother. "Is something wrong?", she asked.  Going further into the room, she looked around. Her walls were a mixture of black and grey. An odd combination for a girl, but it works. Two tall bookshelves were on the right side of the room. The bed was at the opposite of it. Her computer and table were near the open window facing the trees looking out the forest in their home. Beside the shelves, were a work table where she makes her kirigami projects.  The table was devoid o

Chapter 2

The place was clean and its single occupant was busy doing one-hand push-ups. His shirt soaked in his sweat as he counted. "Hundred fifty-eight, hundred fifty-nine, hundred sixty." He clapped before using the other hand to do the rest of the counting. Rooka, wasn't sure why he felt restless but his usual routine was not helping. Ever since he felt the resonance two hours ago, he felt a need to go somewhere, and his wolf had been howling inside his head ever since. As the Alpha, and leader of the Middle East Were Nation, he knows the meaning behind the resonance. A shift of power, and death. From which place, that he do not know, but judging from its power, he guess it was just nearby. Footsteps can be heard approaching his location, after a few seconds, his beta's scent neared. Not long after he heard his voice, "Yo, Rook, father wants us to be in his office ASAP. And before you ask me, I don't know what it is about. Mother just texted me."

Chapter 3

It was an annoying buzz that broke the moment. His head snapped, body tense, his eyes scanning the area looking for any anomaly. A low growl reverberated from his chest. His wolf, suddenly aware that something was not right with their surrounding.  In their mind link, Rooka broadcasted, "Fan out, there is something in the air that is making -" he stopped mid command, the woman in his arms was trying hard to hold back the chuckle inside. He looked at her, waiting for an explanation of her bizarre behavior. "Care to explain what is going on, my minx?" He felt her take a deep breath before lifting her head against his neck. Even when her eyes are puffy from crying, she looked beautiful. Her coffee-colored eyes shone with sorrow, a deep sense of loss, and intelligence. The sad smile she gave him broke his heart. Softly she said, "Lem, stop it."  The buzzing stopped instantly. Rooka raised his eyebrow, for an explanation. She sighed, not looking

Chapter 4.1

Rooka was finally kissing her. The woman who calls the other half of his soul. The one he thought has died thirty years ago is finally in his arms.    Without breaking eye contact, he slowly brushed his lips against hers, once, twice, making sure that she was not going to hit him. The third time, he swiped his tongue on her close lips, making her gasp. Without hesitation, he started to deepen it. There was minimal resistance, maybe because, in a way, she was attracted to him, either way, she started to melt against him, he warped his arm around her waist to keep her from falling.   She was an explosion of flavor that he was not expecting. Maybe it was the food they had, or maybe he was just overthinking, but she was addicting, something he cannot live without. A soft moan escaped her lips, causing him to explore more of her mouth.

Chapter 4.2

"Who are the Hidden Ones?" Layla asked."The what one?" Questioned Nuru."The Hidden Ones," everyone said at the same time."Oh," he paused and asked, "who are they?" Layla just hit him on the back of his head, causing him to yell. Trust Nuru to make a joke out of everything. But it was a valid question. After Megan's biting question, they all laughed. Breaking the tension surrounding them. They went back to the inn to explain what had happened.  They were once again in the kitchen. Rena was making at least two Filipino dishes, and Rooka was fixing some fruit shake for everyone. He used the groceries in the car to make the shakes. Onc

Chapter 4.3

"They wanted to give you a normal life," Lem said. It was past midnight, but sleep eluded Serena. She was at the nipa hut again. This time, Lem was with her. The three Sparks wanted to be with others.  "I got that, Lem, but why go through all of that? They never hid me, far from it, they love my paperwork exhibitions. I mean, you're always with mom, so you know what I mean." "They didn't do it to hide you from humans, but to hide you from your people." He looked at her, there were so many questions in her mind, but she knew that Lem didn't know everything. "Celeste saw how they were going to die each year, princess. And you were always the catalyst. The first time she dreamt of death was when you were just two months old. The cause? A fire you created." "I don't have -"

Chapter 5.1

"Coffee." It was the first thing Serena said when she stepped inside the kitchen past ten in the morning.  Megan was fixing some meat sandwiches and greeted her. Rena just nodded and headed straight for the coffee pot. She grabbed a tall mug from the shelf and poured the life brew together with several spoonfuls of sugar and cream. After giving a quick stir, she took a long drink and sighed happily.  "Baby, if you will be like that every morning, I can give you something better than coffee," Rooka said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Rena stopped drinking, and Megan stopped slicing tomatoes. Both looked at him and said, "Is it more creamy than c

Chapter 5.2

It took them three hours to finish the things they had to do before driving back to The Daire's homestead. Megan had to hand over the inn's care to one of her cousins, with a promise of a weekly update.  The mood inside the cars was somber. Rooka, Serena, Wayne, and Megan were in one car, while the twins and Kaz were in the other. The Spark was with the twins again, except for Lem who stayed with Rena.  Megan looked at the rearview mirror. Her friend was looking out the window while the man seated beside her was looking at her. He saw her observing them and gave her a reassuring smile. "My brother will make sure Alpha Serena will be okay," Wayne said.  "You can drop the alpha thing, Wayne," Serena sai

Chapter 5.3

Rooka wanted to run to Serena the moment she leaned against the doorframe. If not for Wayne holding on to his arm, he would have rushed to her side.  "You cannot enter the house Alpha," they all looked at Lily. She was sitting on Nuru's shoulder. "No one can enter." "Why?" He asked, even though he cannot see her, he was able to pinpoint where she was.  "Her mother. You were able to set foot yesterday because it was her will. Now it's her turn to understand why this happened. If not the whole thing, at least part of it." "This has been bothering me…" Nuru said, "you guys are so small, how can you have a loud voice." "Magic."&n
