Chapter 70

Not again. Not even at this crucial period. I did not need more than the growls and the foul odor emanating from the wolf to know it was a rogue. Saliva was dripping down the side of the mouth as it continued to growl at me and it was one way to know it wasn’t in its right senses. What was I even thinking when I decided to escape from where I was bound? That I would have it easy when I step foot outside? I should have known that leaving the territory of the Green Woods, which was probably the safest place for me at the moment, would expose me to harm's way. This rogue was probably the tip of the iceberg. I might have lost my abilities as a wolf, but the stench from the rogue was disgusting to me. I was at this point where I could puke my brain out but my self-control was helping in a lot of ways. I’m still surprised I was able to stand the stench when I still had my hyper senses. A realization hit me, and I h

Chapter 71

“Garrett,” “Yes?” “Elder Damien is here.” Whatever Garrett had his focus on, he had to withdraw from as soon as he got informed of the new development. And just as he had been told, he did confirm it when he turned around to see a man in red and black shaded clothing approaching him and his best friend, Luke. The sight of the approaching man caused a change in his mood instantly. Rage took over him, an expression he has not exuded in a while, not even when he found out about his mate’s disappearance from where she was held bound. Turning to look at Luke who had his concentration on the man, he asked in a tone that failed to hide how he was feeling, “Who let him in?” “Who else but the guards?” Luke responded casually as if to tell him to see through the obvious. And that was

Chapter 72

“Hmph,” I whimper, not just once, but three times. Right now, I couldn’t feel myself. I was sore all over with no idea how I came to be in this state. I can’t even say I was in my right senses as everything about my being was inexplicable. Or could I be dreaming? It took me a while to realize I was nothing close to being in the dreamland. My eyes were drooping as I try to force them open. It was becoming quite difficult a task that at one point I had to give up and let myself recuperate. Maybe by then, I would get a hang of my system. A few minutes later and I open my eyes wide to the fading day. The sky was grey and I could tell that in no time, the night would befall me. My arms felt heavy to lift and so were my legs. It prompted me to stay still on the ground, right in the middle of where I have no idea of. I could be lost for crying out loud. Or maybe right in the middle of something unpredict

Chapter 73

The fall was heavy when I land in the river, with my whole body going deep below the surface. The struggle to stay afloat did not come any easy as I continued to go under. I think I might have forgotten that I have no idea how to swim before taking that jump. But there was no way I was going to give myself up to my pursuers in the first place. Little by little, the only thing that was in my sight and around me was nothing but water. For a moment, I thought I was going to drown to my death. My water intake has gotten to a limit and I was losing air in my lungs already. Until the unexpected happened. The miracle that sort of occurred was when my body began to take a course on its own. And when I say that, I mean my body started to go through a free flow that was leading me above water. I did not resist it. Neither did I let it overwhelm me. I did not have to wait too long before my head was finally above the surface. Insta

Chapter 74

“If you think about it, the first place that she would run off to is her uncle’s. She remains something of a member to the Red Crescent pack, remember?” Luke uttered those words as he tried to keep up with the pace of the man in front of him. The man in particular, who was Garrett, seemed like he had no intention of slowing down. At that time they had made it out of the building they were in. Despite Garrett’s attitude, Luke had no choice but to keep on with the motion because he knew slowing down won’t help him meet up. “I know,” came Garrett’s quick response to Luke’s statement, “but you might not be seeing the bigger picture,” “What exactly do you mean?” That was when Garrett stopped walking, almost making Luke collide with him. It was unexpected but Luke’s wolf ability came in handy at the right time.

Chapter 75

Driving through the territory of the Red Crescent pack, they were met with a land area that was different from theirs which was the Green Woods pack. Unlike the greenery that came with the Green Woods territory, the Red Crescent pack stuck with a clear land area with the quarters being visible to all. The journey from the main entrance to where they were headed took about seven minutes but they arrived there soon enough. It was part of a safety reason that was why it did not bother Garrett one bit. Both men did the necessary and got down from the car to the main quarters of the packhouse, which he was sure was the ultimate attempt of his ex. It was a golden touch but he enjoyed every bit of it before settling himself in. They didn’t have to wait too long before they were joined by a man that Garrett seemed to recognize. And the recognition went beyond just sighting him for the first time in years. It was one that h

Chapter 76

Walking deep inside the woods was hectic, and I have no choice but to go slowly. My motion was as slow as a snail, picturing me as a fragile human. Although, as of now, everything felt different in me. But it doesn’t change the fact that I have been through hell for the past two days. I have survived two more rogue attacks, the possibility of being nabbed by members of a small pack, as well as surviving an attack from a wild one out there. Thanks to the gifted abilities I now possess, I have been able to successfully evade every sort of situation I got into. However, it always comes with a price — Exhaustion. Once I use any of my abilities for too long, which I always do during the evasions, I get drained of my energy both physically and mentally. I’ve made several attempts to at least hold on to my energy for much longer but I have not succeeded in doing it. I only count myself lucky for the aftereffect of using the abilit

Chapter 77

Realizing who it is, I begin to move back slowly, mostly because I cannot believe my eyes. It made me start to question if I was in the right place. But this was where I spent ten years of my life in so there was no doubt about where I was. A few feet away from the entrance and I stop to observe the face of who I know shouldn’t be here. Garrett — my damn mate! There was nothing more than rage in me from seeing him here. Even though I am stunned from knowing that I have been found when I thought I shouldn’t be traced to this place, I cannot hide the fact that I wish to pounce on him this state for being one of those that kept me locked. That was when my biggest worry began to overwhelm me. If he was the one who answered the door, then what about my grandmother? Where was she? Could he have done anything to her? It was at that moment that I knew I had to take a stance because him trac

Chapter 78

The water felt like a part of me as it rained down on me from the showerhead. The refreshing feeling that took over me was inexplicable, causing a sort of craving for me. I had a bath in the river some days ago, but the feeling from then was far different from what I was getting from this. Maybe it’s because I tuned the intensity of the water to my convenience. I definitely know that this is what I need now.   I take my time grasping the feel of the water before washing up. Much later I felt I was done so I cleaned up with a clean towel that I’m guessing was just put there. I then stepped out of the room with the towel tied around my chest.   The first thing I was met with when I am out was my ripped clothes on the floor. Yes, I had literally ripped them apart before stepping into the room and that was the right thing to do. They might have served the right purpose in covering my nakedness, but they didn’t qualify to be called clothes. At le

Chapter 79

The look I received from Garrett after my grandmother uttered that statement proved he was in disbelief. Pretty sure he got carried away with the conversation we were having that he could not hear her walk back into the dining room. But that aside, she had made known the biggest shock of a long while and his expression tells me he is trying to make sense out of it.   “Did you tell her?” was what Garrett asked me while still maintaining the stunned expression.   I was at the point of giving him a response when grandma beats me to it. “Oh no, Garrett,” she says. “Lia never made anything known to me. In fact, I’ve known about your kind before she was born,”   Instantly, I chip in, “You realize my mother was human. Wouldn’t it have been strange for her to just leave without informing my grandma?”   Despite that, he didn’t look convinced, which I don’t get his reason for. I mean, my brief explanation shou
