Chapter 11

Rhaenyx walked beside Icran through the damp streets, rain setting into her large coat that sat on her shoulders. Rhae constantly shifted her wrists, attempting to pull them out from the rope that held them together behind her back. Icran casually had his arm hooked around hers, pulling her in close. Icran’s hoarse voice shook Rhae from her anger, “Act casual, we are coming up on the building you will wait on to ambush the Queen.” Rhaenyx recognised these streets. She had walked them on her way to the mercenary guild earlier to burn down their house. The smell of ash still lingered in the air, stuffing her nose with the particles floating through the air. Rhaenyx relaxed, examining everything around her. Icran’s grip loosened as well, allowing her the perfect opportunity to run. None of his guards was around, and there was no witness’. His sword was strapped to his side and difficult to reach before she slipped out of his grip. Rhaenyx fell into step beside Icran, ma

Chapter 12

Rhae’s next mission was to find Kaia. Rhae turned only to find Icran standing behind her, swinging the hilt of his blade into her head. Everything turned dark. Rhae awoke in the chair again. Her head pounded, and she tasted blood in her mouth. Grazes covered her arms and legs, alongside a few gashes. As her sight came into focus, she found Kaia sitting in a chair across from her, tied down and gagged. A cut ran across her forehead, down to her eye. She was unconscious. Icran stepped into the light, alongside Dynamere. “Rhaenyx Maltalor, are you ever going to learn?” Icran sighed. “Dyna wake her up.” With a single nod to Kaia, Dyna stalked over, slamming the hilt of her dagger into Kaia’s jaw. Kaia awoke and jumped, breathing heavily. “What- is going- on,” she panted. “Kaia!” Rhae growled, turning to Dynamere. “You touch her and I will wipe you from the face of this Earth.” Dyna chuckled and sat on Kaia’s lap, spreading herself over Kaia. Chapter 13

Interrupting Rhae’s thoughts, the door clicked open, and Icran’s presence disappeared from her mind. A woman dressed in armour with bright red hair stepped through the door, grinning. Her green eyes lit up with pleasure as she bowed sarcastically. “My lady, doth thee wish to dress?” She chuckled dramatically and stood up, walking towards the closet. “Now what shall we wear for dinner today?” The woman’s spunk surprised Rhae, stopping her dead in her feet. An important thought hid from her, something she wanted to do but couldn’t remember. “We?” Rhae questioned. “Yes, ‘we’ will be attending the dinner tonight. What’s your favourite colour?” The woman stepped out of the closet, peering questionably. “Black.” The answer came easily to Rhae as though she had known this woman for a long time. “Hmm, not appropriate.” The woman scanned Rhae. “You still have bruising around your jaw so we will have to distract from that. You would look wonderful in navy blue

Chapter 14

Kaia sat on her bed, rubbing her neck softly. She remembered that a member of the guild only one day ago held a knife to her neck. Kaia only managed to escape because the woman, whom she now knows as Lynn after a man called her name, had tackled the man to the floor, taking his knife and threatening him. He was suspended for two days and forced to leave the guild house until his suspension was over. Even if she escaped without a scratch, she would never forget that feeling. Later that day, Kaia fell into a deep sleep, waking up to find herself tied to a chair with Rhae unconscious sitting across from her. Kaia couldn’t hear the others talking to Rhae as an overpowering ringing echoed through her mind. Her throat was dry and rasp, making her unable to speak. Kaia then fell into a pool of black nothingness once again, only to wake in her bed, thirsty for a drop of water and with a pounding headache. Kaia paced her room, trying to recall the day’s events or even multiple days i

Chapter 15

Icran turned to face Katyana. The string-pulling on Rhae’s mind loosened, and Icran left her mind. Katyana stormed out of the room, dragging a growling Rhae along with her. Katyana dragged Rhae all the way into her room, leaving her by the bed, then moving into the closet. She came back out with a black leather suit and a belt of weapons. She threw it down on the bed and moved to the door. “Put it on, I’ll be back in a few minutes. The matching boots are under the bed.” She stepped outside and slammed the door shut. Rhae clenched her fist and grabbed the suit. Thinking that she might as well, she changed into her suit. Inside the suit were many unfelt pockets containing small hidden blades. She pulled on the boots finding that when she tapped her heels together, another blade revealed itself. Picking up the belt of weapons, she pulled out two of her favourite blades. They had curved edges with one blade splitting off into two. One half was short and slightly curved, while th

Chapter 16

Katyana sat at her table in the tavern 'Holes' chugging down her mug of Gharane. Rhae spoke softly, "You could have killed him." Katyana put her mug down softly, giving Rhae a look. Rhae spoke again, "Why didn't you?"  Katyana sighed, "He was merely being used as a demonstration to his guild members. You don't have to kill everyone to get what you want. To be honest, I kind of hate that part of myself. The part that enjoyed what I just did." Katyana was shocked with herself slightly. She usually kept that detail to herself, part of an assassination guild, no matter how little business they got. She was supposed to love killing people, like many others in her guild did. Rhae looked past Katyana, lost in her thoughts. Katyana supposed that Rhae would be the type who enjoys murder, enjoys the hunt, like the majority of the people from the Henla guild. It took a lot of distancing yourself from reality to be the best killer. But Katyana didn't want to be t

Chapter 17

Icran felt a headache coming on; he felt dizzy and sick. He knew one thing though, his connection with Rhae was fading. He knew Katyana had taken her out; he let it happen so that Rhae could calm down a little. But something was wrong, and it made him pissed. Before he could stop himself, he was pulling on his cloak and abandoning the sleeping, naked woman in his bed. He followed the tugging of his bond with Rhae, charging down the streets and pushing away anyone in his path. One tiny thing could send him into a rage, so he was careful not to speak to anyone in his path. Icran finally came upon Rhae, Katyana and- he paused. The princess, what the hell is she doing here? The girls were sitting on a bench with two men leaning over the group, grinning. One of the men was twirling Rhae's new dark, wavy hair. Icran began charging towards the men, ready to destroy them. Before he grabbed their attention, the man twirling Rhae's hair pulled it to make her look

Chapter 18

Lya was staring at her map of the kingdom, placing a little black statue in one of the regions of the 3rd ring. Only two left to search, and she was running out of men. Groups had been targeted somehow, never returning from their search. A shout rang out from the wall's gate, "It's the princess!" Lya jumped over the bench from her checkpoint near the gate and sprinted to the now opening iron gates. Aynyra stood at the opening, attempting to stand tall, but Lya could see the embarrassment in her eyes. Lya stomped over to Aynyra and grabbed her by her ear, dragging her inside the wall. At Aynyra's protest, Lya released her ear only to grab her wrist in a tight, unforgiving grip. Aynyra felt sorry for her friend, knowing that she had been worrying for hours, so Aynyra followed without struggle, even allowing herself to be pushed to sit on the ottoman at the end of her bed. Lya disappeared into the closet, returning to throw a gown onto the bed. She ducked into the bathroom

Chapter 19

Kaia sat in the dining hall next to Lynn, eating some of the best food she has had in a while. Lynn gave her a sideways glance which didn't go unnoticed. "What is it, Lynn?""You're training has been great so far, but its just not perfect yet," Lynn sighed. "I know that, but we have time right?" Kaia said, putting a hot chip in her mouth. "Not really, Rhae is leaving today to take the hit on the Queen and we have to go with her to make sure everything goes smoothly. Don't worry, we will be there with you, but maybe we should get in another session today." Lynn faked a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes."Wait, I get to see Rhae today?" Kaia's eyes gleamed with excitement.Lynn chuckled, "You get to see her, yes, but you don't get to speak to her, or go near her for that matter."Kaia grumbled, "Why not? I haven't been able to speak to her for days."Lynn sighed again, "Icran says we can't let you two near each other, n

Chapter 20

Icran couldn't go back to Rhae's room again. He loved the feeling of dominance it gave him when he pinned her to the wall. He'd be too tempted to pin her down again and dominate her. So instead, he sent someone else to fetch her and bring her to his office so he could brief her on the plan. Though that seemed to be a mistake as well since as soon as she had entered the room in her skin tight black bodysuit and cloak, he wanted to bend her over his desk and admire that pretty little ass. He would probably fuck her as well. "That's not the outfit I gave you earlier," he drawled. "It restricted my movement too much, I had to wear something more... comfortable," Rhae rolled her eyes at his penetrating stare. "Fine, I suppose it will do." Icran proceeded to go over the plan while Rhae sat in the chair opposite his desk and put her feet up, leaning back. Icran's anger only grew as he went over the plan and it became apparent that Rhae wasn't listening. "So after it's all d
