I glance towards the bedroom door and smile before I turn back towards the small table for two.  I’m not usually into romantic stuff like this, but it seems a fitting thing to do to celebrate our engagement. Engagement.  I still can’t believe I have a smoking hot fiancé. A smile blooms on my face as I light the two candles in the center of the table. I take a few steps back and stare at the table.  I’ve got the small dinner salads off to the side of the plates, along with a small roll.  Metal covers hide the plates and our meal, but it doesn’t stop the steak’s aroma from seeping out from under them. I wonder if he’ll like it. My head pops up when the shower shuts off.  Shit.  I’m not ready yet. I dash back into the little kitchenette and toss the lighter on the counter before I yank off the apron and let the soft, silky red bath

I tap away on my phone as I silently laugh to myself.  My evil smirk grows even wider as I sit and wait. Chance slides closer to me and leans over the top of my phone.  “What is going on now?  Did something else happen?”Water droplets drip off his wet hair and land in the middle of my phone. I quickly wipe it away with the back of my hand and grunt, “Hey!  Watch what you are doing.  I don’t want to have my phone ruined right now.  I need it.”He looks up at me and grunts, “A few drops won’t ruin your phone.  Don’t get your underwear in a bunch.”  He then leans over my phone again and shakes his head.  A wave of water droplets fly in every direction, with several of them landing not only on my phone but also on my face. I snarl as I quickly tuck my phone behind my back.  “Chancey, you better stop that, or you’ll regr

David’s husky voice bounces through my mind, but as his voice suddenly has a hint of concern, I flutter my eyes open. Buzz.I blink a few times as I look up at his handsome face.  He shakes his head.  “Not now, Brandon.  I need to see what these messages are about.  If your father has resolved the situation, this is maybe something new or it could still be something about the previous issue.”My mind quickly rehashes his words.  Brandon’s father has taken care of our original problem.  Then why am I still getting messages? Brandon’s concerned voice pulls me back to reality.  “I want to know what is going on.  I’m going to call dad and we will be there soon.  I’ll grab the others, so make sure you are dressed when we get there.”David turns and looks at me.  As I furrow my eyebrows, trying to understand everything, he smiles down at me

Fear courses through my veins as I stare out at the sea of people.  The constant flashes have spots dancing around in front of me, but I pull myself together and stand tall and strong next to Alex.  He has made one of the hardest decisions in his life, and I’m here to support him.  His words only slightly register in my mind as I stand tall like a statue.  I have his entire speech memorized.  He has been practicing it several times a day for the last few days.  Even though my stomach twists as the flashes keep bombarding us, a sense of pride filters through me as Alex calmly keeps going.  He doesn’t let the occasional shouts from the reporters or the constant flashing from the cameras disturb him.  He is a true professional.  I wish I could be like that someday.  When he finally ends his speech and another stream of flashes blast us, while the reporters shout various questions at us.
