BABY SNUGGLES

It's a tiring day after what happened in the cheerleading competition and to the hospital, where Cassy accused me of horrible things I didn't do. My heart is at peace, knowing I am innocent. There is nothing they can do to take me down. What matters to me is that my friends are with me, especially Maddox. "Angel, is it true that Maddox is your boyfriend now?" Mom asked as I made my way to my room. I lost track of how I already passed by her in the kitchen when my mind was so occupied. For so many days, this is the first time my mom initiates talking to me. I pause to open my room door and turn back to her. Surprisingly mom doesn't look angry. "How did you know?" "Someone told me. Angel, that's not important; I only want to hear it from you."

FIRST KISS (IN OUR FAVORITE PLACE)

Maddox invites me to our favorite place on the campus, the park. I'm excited and quite nervous at the same time, thinking about the snuggles Maddox mentioned on the phone last night. Suddenly I caught myself smiling like a fool with Maddox in my thoughts. I shift onto Maddox; confusion crosses his features. "What is it?" "Nothing, why?" "Then why are you smiling like that? You seem so naughty today." "Me?" I pointed at myself. "No, way, don't be ridiculous?" "Ridiculous? Me? Well, I am not the one smiling like a child for no reason." "Okay, enough with this. Let's take a seat," I invited Maddox as

MY FATHER'S DAUGHTER

Maddox and I are early in school to review our lessons as the exams are nearly approaching after the sports week. He is sitting in Sam's chair beside me, discussing a subject quite hard to understand. "Angel," Sam called out my name, she almost shouted. Sam and Luke walk closer, hand in hand. "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked. Luke and Sam stop beside Maddox, panting. They are like running a few meters, probably from the parking area up until here."So, you guys, care to share what are you up to?" Mad asked. Luke pointed at me. "This is about Angel." "Me?" I said as my eyes widened.

THE TRUTH CAME OUT

I don't expect to see Maddox outside of the guidance counselor's office; he is wearing his beautiful smile that enlightens my mood immediately. His smile automatically made my day. Standing with Maddox is our class adviser Ms. Jerselle and on the other side are Cassy's friends.   "Hey, how was it?"Maddox asked as he gave me a hug.   "Everything is fine, don't worry," I answered happily in a low tone. I intend to have the conversation for just the two of us.   "Cassy, how are you, girl? We came here when we saw Maddox with teacher Jerselle." I overheard Chloe when Cassy and her mom came out of the office.   "Thanks, girls, we're not done yet. But mom will handle it," Cas

CHAOS

Cassy's action creates commotion and tension in the cafeteria. Students start to gather near us, checking what will happen next; they sound like bees as they begin gossiping. Cassandra has succeeded in getting the students' attention; she loves to be the center of attention. Maddox stands by my side as fast as he can. "Cassandra..." I hold up my hand in front of Maddox to stop him. He looks at me in confusion. I nod at him before I move close to Cassandra and then slap her with all my might. The impact of my hand in her face creates a sound that is so satisfying to hear. Cassy holds her left cheek, her eyes glaring at me with so much anger in them. Avery, Chloe, and Scarlett rush to cover up Cassandra. I picked up the pineapple juice from our table and splashed it with Cassy

AFTER THE CHAOS

A month had passed, and surprisingly, all the issues about me within the campus disappeared. Without a doubt, Angelo Tan has something to do with it, but I refused to inquire further. Maddox, Sam, and Luke know everything between me and my father's short conversation. We all agree that my father has taken action to stop all the rumors about me in the school. Even Cassy and her mom are no longer pursuing the case about Cassy's injury. Avery, Chloe, Scarlett, and Cassandra are distant from me after the cafeteria commotion. It was the day Angelo Tan appeared in front of me. There's a place in my heart that celebrates but half of it stays in alarm whenever they plan to attack me again. I let all the issues wear out, including the stress and pain that goes with it. As long as I can study conveniently and hang out with my favorite friends

COUPLES' ISLAND TRIP

My friends and I got out of school earlier than usual. We went home directly at about five in the afternoon to prepare for our two days and two nights vacation at the nearest Island in Davao City. I have never been this excited on vacation, especially that this is my first time going out with a circle of friends. Back then, I could only have a holiday with mom for a day or two.   "Angel, make sure you have everything you need for your out of town. You don't have me there to supervise you," Mom said, sneaking in my door.   Mom coughs while holding her chest; her cheeks flush as she tries to get the phlegm out. It must be a little hard for her.   "Mom, your cough is back again? You should see a doctor. I can't go on vacation thinking you're not well."

COUPLES' DINNER

Arriving at Pearl Farm Samal Beach resort, we directly settle in each  of our rooms. I'm staying with Lea as we requested while the others have their rooms. Our Samal suite has a private beach which is accessible using our private stairs. The interior of the room was a distinctive design of Samal culture. It's my first time staying in a luxury room, and I'm amazed at how the staff treated us like royalty. Extra special with so many amenities that go with the luxury room we get to enjoy, just for Lea and me alone. "Oh my God, beautiful. Lea, look, our private beach," I said, removing the curtain. At the glass window, the beach is viewable. Even at night, the water shimmers to the light reflection. "Wow, Angel, this is a dream come true for me."

ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS

Cassandra freezes as she is standing in front of us, squeezing her fingers. It appears that she is nervous, which is awkward. I have never seen her afraid in front of us; she always acts arrogantly. "Sorry guys, I didn't mean to bother your dinner. It just so happens that we have made reservations at the same restaurant," she said politely. I guess it's safe to say that we were shocked at how she acted, calm and pleasant. There was no trace of sarcasm on her face, and even her choice of words seemed different. "That's not a problem for us Cassy, we don't own this restaurant," I said when no one bothered to answer. "Thank you, Angel, you are so nice." "What kind of a show is this, Cassandra?" Sam asked; she seemed pi

SUNRISE AND BREAKFAST

I wake up with a strange feeling of not being alone in my bed. And my guess was right when my vision landed on Maddox's cute face. He is still sleeping peacefully; I love to stare at his face without him knowing it. I remember making Maddox's arm my pillow last night and the other arm wrapped around me like my blanket. It was sweet to have his warm and soothing embrace until I closed my eyes to sleep. It was good to exchange partners in our room as Lea wants to stay with her boyfriend, Glenn. She requested it at the last minute after we were back from the bar. Who am I to refuse? While staring at Maddox, a scene of him kissing me flashes in my head, making me touch my lips. Thinking of last night's kiss, I check on my sleeping dress immediately. I am relieved to see myself s
