Chapter 10

“I am sorry the mighty, but I think that we have opposing opinions towards your proposal. you seem to be thinking that you are presenting me an opportunity of a lifetime, whereas the only thing that I can see in your proposal is how you are trying to take an advantage of the power imbalance that we have at the given moment.” Oh, you misunderstood me, Your Majesty. It was not a proposal, it was a demand. I will wreak havoc on you and your country if you reject. You would not want to test me, Princess, a good leader always honors their promises, whether they like it or not. I will give you a week for you to go back to your Palace, only to come back once the time is up. But you must understand that that time period is not for you to make a decision, Your Majesty, it is to arrange your affairs before we wed under the full moon by the end of the week.” I jumped back on violet and kick her a bit harder than I would usually do to get her to go back to my Palace. Chapter 11

NIA - year 2021  There it was. The nightmare… Once again making me jump out of the bed in the middle of the night. It was the same thing every time. I would run through Dark Forest, wearing a yellow ball gown, tugging on the brims of my dress, screaming “please don't die, please don't leave me,” in the painful voice. I would trip up a fallen tree branch and fall face-first into a pile of crimson leaves. as I hit the ground, the scenery changes color I will be on my knees hugging a brunette girl I had never seen before. I would be bending over her, crying, on her, trying to stop her from Bleeding Out. I would try to clothes of her wound with my hands, I would beg people around me to help me. I had once tried to explain my dream to my therapist, I think it's was the second or third time I saw it. I asked her what it could have meant, I asked her why I would be waking up panting and screaming no into the air despite the dream not having any

Chapter 12

Unlike many part-timers, I didn't actually mind Saturdays. Saturday's where one of my least busy days. I had only had to work House of the day, and I would have the rest of the day to myself. I was particularly happy this month as I got the chance to work with my best friend Bella. we would meet up in front of the subway station that is a block away from the restaurant, and walk to work together. By the time we would arrive at the front door, we would pretty much go through all of the work-related gossip. “You seem extra gloomy today, chirped Bella. oh how I would wish to be a morning person like her. “I think last week's turnout is finally catching up to me,” I replied trying to keep my eyes open. “You know how won’t feel how tired you actually are until you stop? that is exactly how I'm feeling at this very moment. I can't wait for my shift to be over, so I can go back to my dorm and sleep until the next morning.” “ no you can't!” said Bella, looking li

Chapter 13

“I see a beautiful house filled with love,” she continued, completely ignoring my question. “I see growth, I see Trust between two people who love each other so dearly. I see crowded parties, champagne flowing, chandeliers gleaming. Ah, you have a wonderful life waiting for you.” “I don't think I can have a life as you described,” I replied almost bittersweetly, “those kind of lives are quite unachievable, especially for a girl like me.” “Nonsense,” she replied with a soft but assertive tone. You will be well-respected, well-celebrated, and you will build the most beautiful family. You will have a daughter,” she continued with a softer voice, “you will have a beautiful daughter and her birth will bring lots of Celebration. I see lots of rose imagery, both related to your relationships and to your daughter. I see an oak tree, I can even smell freshly varnished wooden furniture it smells like one of those cabins that you would stay. Ever been to one?” “I shook

I often found myself like I did not deserve her, as she had been so loyal to me. I was never one to be affectionate towards my loved ones, I had always been a bit more distant, no matter what I had done. I did not know why I was like that, it could be because I have been left all by myself whenever I actually love someone, it had always ended with me in a heartbreak. I was aware of my world, I was aware of what they were doing to me, but I was so happy in my comfort zone that I couldn't bring myself to bring them down. The only thing that I could do, the only thing that was left for me to do, let's feel grateful for those who are willing to stay by my side in spite of my walls. “Are you going back to the dorm?” Bella asked, bringing me back to the real-life from the dark depths of my thoughts as we walked out of the subway. I nodded to show my approval. “Okay then, be careful, okay? I will be a bit later today, I'll call you when I'm done.” I clumsily wrapped one of my arms

Chapter 15

Princess Vivian   I was unable to sleep that night. I would say I had a fairly calm twenty years of life but the past few days held enough to break me to my core. Whenever I closed my eyes, all of my miss-calculated decisions in these past few days rush through before my eyes. It was impossible to fall into sleep. I was not angry, no, I was fuming. I was angry at how I could do such a stupid thing, trusting the Sorceress that is, not once, but twice. I knew nothing good can come out of it, and as a matter of fact, I was so desperate to fix my mistakes, I kept digging myself deeper into the hole. I just could not accept the failure as well as I thought I would have. That was going to be my demise. being stupid enough to make the same mistake over and over again. “We need a strategy on how to approach the new girl, Your Majesty, for when she arrives tomorrow,” Jasmine brought me back from my thoughts, “We need to approa

Chapter 16

I grunted, struggling to get under the duvet. My insomnia had been killing me, both metaphorically and literally. I dragged myself under the covers, going to the washroom to get into my bath Jasmine had already drawn for me. There were not many things that could make one as relaxed as a warm bath soaking up the tiredness away. I got out of my bath, after what seemed like forever, freshened up, got back into my room to allow my handmaiden to dry and dress me. Once my gown was tied up nice and tight, I sat down back to my vanity to allow my hair and makeup to be done. “Your Majesty, The Sorceress has arrived with our guest.” I took a deep breath, trying to wrap my head around what we were about to do. “How is she?” I asked, trying to do my best to hide my concerns. “Unconscious,” replied The Sorceress as she walked through the gates of the common room. “I wouldadvise you to wait until she wakes up, Your Majesty.” I had felt a surprising sense of relief

Chapter 17

I opened my eyes in a foreign setting. The room I woke up in, looked nothing like I had seen ever before; high ceilings, drapes all across, it was a lot fancier than I could’ve ever dreamed of. The one thing was I really didn’t know how I ended up there. The last thing I remembered was walking the old lady back to her home, the rest is gone. “She is awake, my lady. You can tell Your Majesty,” the old lady said in a chirping voice. It felt good to see a familiar face. “Where did you bring me to?” I asked, still trying to make sense of my surroundings. “A place that lives in a different lifetime,” the old lady laughed. I failed to see what she found so amusing. “I don’t remember coming here,” I tried so hard remembering how and when we arrived. “How did we come here? When did we come here?” Just as I hoped to get an answer to fall out of the old lady’s mouth as the doors flung open. In rushes one of the most beautiful women I had ever la

Chapter 18

I was out of my mind, I didn't know what to do, I didn't know where to go, I didn't know who to trust. As much as I wanted to seem like I was level-headed and try to keep my poker face as much as I could, it was to no avail. I was scared and I was confused. The old lady must have been able to read my concern from my face as she continued, “The smartest thing for you would be to just surrender yourself. Then you can enjoy yourself. This is not as bad as you think. The Princess will reward you handsomely if and when you assist her.” My sniffles softened with her reassuring words. “Give it a bit more time, maybe a week or so. You will understand me better then.” I stood back up and opened my door to collect the uniform that had been sent to me. There were many things I had anticipated in my life but becoming a handmaiden was surely not one of them. I was already late because of my overemotional chat with the old lady so I had barely any time left to take a bath, because

“Wait, is she really a princess?” The lady confirmed. I didn’t know why it shocked me as much as it did, if I’m being completely honest, there were still monarchies all around the world. But everything felt a bit off here than all the others that I had seen or heard about. In here, everything was a bit more 16th century, a bit more like the Tudors. “The Princess only trusts her immediate servants with her jewelry.” That made me surprisingly proud. “It is actually an honor, even though it does not feel like one at times.” “Thank you for saying that,” I snuck a glance at her, “I am so thankful for having you as my mentor here.” “Well, we will be spending an awfully lot of time together,” she bursted into laughter. “So, where are you from?” Lady Jasmine, asked. “Louisiana,” replied, without turning back to her. I just wanted to be done with the dusting job. “Never heard of that land. Who is the King?”“Pardon?” Just when I thought my day had gained so
