Chapter 31: Village

“Give me the umbrella,” Reign said when we got out of the house through the main door. One of his men handed him the black umbrella.  I don’t have any idea what Reign will do with the umbrella. It’s still early in the morning, and there’s no heat from the sun yet. If there is one, it still can’t hurt our skin. It’s already given that his house is big and Reign came from a wealthy family and himself, but I still can’t help and be surprised when I see the whole of this vast house. Significantly, it was located at the top of the island, and you can see everything below.  Ostentatious. That’s what can describe the exterior of Reign’s home. The way out of his house was full of Bermudas. Its width is like a manor. I didn’t know that this was the front of his house, surrounded by rare flowers. I can’t even describe the beauty

Chapter 32: Offer

“Repeat it,” Reign said as I approached him. I looked at him in surprise.   “What?”   “What you said earlier, repeat it,”   “I said a lot. And why? What’s up?” I was looking at Reign with confusion. He was staring directly into my eyes.    “I want to hear what you said earlier,” Reign says. His baritone voice was serious, so my right eyebrow raised.   “Is it my fault if you haven’t heard what I said?” Reign’s expression changed as the last word slips out of my mouth. I shivered when he suddenly looked at me with a warning. What?   “I said nothing about not hearing your words earlier. I’m telling you to repeat what you said,” Reign even emphasizes the ‘repeat’ word. I stared at Reign eagerly. I’ve said many things before; which one does he want to hear?   “Is it about you having good people on your island?” Reign’s forehead furrowed.

Chapter 33: Danger?

“What’s your reason to help me?” I asked, trying to act like I overlooked her purpose. It’s given that he like Reign, and I don’t care, but why drag me in her feelings?   Sharmon did not answer and immediately turned her eyes to the two guards behind me. She seemed bothered to speak further because of them.   “First of all, can we talk privately without them?” I just raised my right eyebrow at what she said. Sharmon seemed afraid that they would hear our current conversation. But maybe, even if I want to get rid of them, nothing will happen.    “How can I do that? They won’t listen to me because I’m not their boss, and they aren’t my men. They are under Reign and not mine,” I answered directly. Her expression changed. I don’t like her because she’s something strange.   She clicks her tongue slowly. I think she’s already irritated because of what I reacted to, “They will. Just try,”

Chapter 34: Grand Ball

“Ruchee!” My conversation with Thraia was interrupted by a loud bang coming from the front door.  I saw Reign run closer to the sofa I was sitting on. I also felt Thraia’s sudden stand as she was sitting next to me. When Reign got close to where I was, he was out of breath. I feel like he ran up the giant stairs to reach his house. What’s his problem?  I was about to ask when Reign suddenly put his hand on my forehead and moved it to my neck as if to see if I had a fever. Because of what he did, I held my breath. His face was too close to my nose and mouth. I could see how Reign’s jaw went up and down because of the hard breathing he was impulsing to himself. When he checked that I had no fever, he stood up and turned around. I thought he would leave, but he just took a deep breath before returning his face to me. His blue eyes stared with concern.

Chapter 35: Reign’s Parents

Chatters. Clanking glasses. Familiar noise, just like the one in the auction, while place was filled with rich laughter from different high-class people. I looked at Reign while his blue eyes were staring at me worriedly.  “Are you okay?” Reign asked without changing his worried expression, “Why are you so pale? What’s the matter?” He added while putting his hands on both of my cheeks. I tried to open my mouth, and I was glad that it’d not frozen anymore. “I’ve been working for two years in a luxurious bar, and yes, there’s a lot of rich customers I served inside that place but this event,” I turned my gaze downstairs and observed the people who were out of my league, “I don’t fit in this ball, Reign. Maybe I should just go back to my room and sleep, right? I’m better off there,” then I turned my eyes to him. Reign’s expression

Chapter 36: Poisoned

“Oh,” Reign’s mother hissed as she looked at me, “And who is this stunning woman?” she then takes a step to approach me but then, Reign suddenly covered my body with his. “Why are you here?” Reign asked as his baritone voice was guttural. His parents hadn’t answered his question earlier.   I can’t see his family’s face correctly because Reign’s body is covering my vision from them. I turned around and saw Reign’s family caught the attention of the people inside this reception. Blaze and Blade are also on the sidelines.  I did not utter a word and remained hidden behind. I looked at Reign’s broad back; even a glance at it, you could feel how safe and warm it was. I was embraced by him before, and the thought of it makes something inside my stomach go all out. “Of course, we are here to celebrate our pare

Chapter 37: Caretaker

“The lady’s food was mixed with anticoagulant rodenticides,” who’s talking? “A rat poison,” a familiar voice. I slowly opened my eyes. The light blue decor dawned on me. Where am I? I felt a painful sensation in my throat. “Yes, Mister Jaccobich. It’s a rat poison that can end a lady’s life if not treated promptly. Fortunately, I am here on the island. If not, you may be mourning this woman right now,” I looked at the source of the voices. Two people were standing near the edge of the bed I was currently lying on; one was unfamiliar wearing a tuxedo while a stethoscope was hanging around his neck, and the other was Reign wearing a dress shirt.  They didn’t notice that I was awake, “Yes. Thank you so much, doctor. You saved my woman’s life. Good to know that you’re a poison expert. So how is she? Any prescriptions

Chapter 38: Relieved

“This is good news Mister Jaccobich. She’s recovering fast than I expected. It’s still a week after she takes the prescription, and the lady is doing well. I guess there’s nothing to worry about,” the doctor said as he was looking at my current records. I was sitting at the side of the bed, looking at both Reign and the doctor.   The current room I was in was surrounded by blue, and even though I know who owns this room, it still doesn’t seem to sink into my brain. For the whole week, I slept here, in Reign’s room. I wonder where he slept while I was here. Reign’s room is too big, and if you look closely, everything is immaculate. Daily cleaned by the maids.    I didn’t speak because the doctor was talking to Reign. I also recovered my voice the other day, but I was still careful because my throat was still a bit sore.    “Thanks for the regular check you do for her, Doc,” Reign said, and then he looked at me.

Chapter 39: Confession

“Where’s Thraia?” I asked when one of the maids go to my room to fetch me for lunch. It’s been a month since I was poisoned, and the doctor has left for the final check-up. He said that I don’t have to wait for another few months because the poison in my body has completely disappeared.   Reign stopped Doctor Greg and asked to have lunch here first, but the doctor rejected the offer because he still had something to take care of. Speaking of Reign, I closed my eyes and giggled. I don’t know, but I started to get to know him.   “She was on leave Miss,” I suddenly fixed myself. I forgot I had someone with me inside this room. I let out a deep sigh and face the maid. Fortunately, I barely turned my back on her earlier.    “Why?” I asked because I didn’t know she had left. I saw her last week inside the house, but I noticed something strange about Thraia, she seems to be avoiding me, and now she was on leave without bot

Chapter 40: Ruthless

“What did you say?” Reign asked in a taut manner. I looked at him, and he was giving this expression of being nervous and angry. I think it’s because of what Thraia said earlier. “I-I was the one who p-poisoned the miss, master,” Thraia repeated what she said earlier. I confusedly looked at her. “What are you saying?” I couldn’t believe what Thraia have said. I gently held her shoulders, that was constantly going up and down because she was crying endlessly. “It’s true. I’m the one who put poison on your food because I know that teriyaki is your favorite, and that’ll be the first thing you will eat inside the grand event. That was the kind of person you were,” she said without looking at me.  I was stunned. I don’t know if Thraia was telling the truth or not. I remember that she didn’t eat when I invited he
