Chapter 10

"He cannot go it's too dangerous for him. The full moon is in two weeks." Pandora slammed her fist down hard on the table in the family's meeting room.I stood at the entrance of the doorway as I listened. The room was filled with different opinions that made the oxygen and atmosphere thick with tension. I decided to keep my opinions to myself not wanting to get into a fight with anyone else in Creed's family."But if he doesn't go the others are going to ask questions, Dora. Being chosen to defend and protect especially during one of the most dangerous times of the year is an honor," Jared spoke up.Pandora narrowed her eyes."Do not give me a speech on honor. This is your brother's life we talking about. If someone notices the slightest supernatural tendency in him they will kill him on the spot and we will all be deemed untrustworthy and killed." I looked over at Creed and he sat at the table uninterestedly as his family

Chapter 11

The blood drained from Elias's face and he pulled me to the small closet I found Liam looking for books on Lycanthropy in a few days ago. He shut the door behind us. "Do you want to tell me what you want with all that research?""Do you promise not to tell anyone?" Liam trusted Elias but I didn't know if I could trust him as yet. "Only if you promise it's not something dangerously stupid," he ensured to put extra emphasis on the word stupid. "Then it's best you don't know," I turned to leave, "I guess I'll just have to do it myself." He caught my arm and turned me around to face him.   "Fine just tell me because fuck if you die my brothers will kill me after they both threatened me to watch over you." "Brother's?" I questioned."Creed and Liam," he said as a smirk rested on his face. "Not that they had to do much threatening for me to spend time with you beauty. So tell me what you up to and even if it's insane I

Chapter 12

The first two nights of searching for a fae were unsuccessful. The bars in this town were bleak and dead it wouldn't even attract the best of the natural let alone the supernatural.Creed was going to be back in three days and we had nothing. I never would have contemplated how hard it was to find a fae. Elias and I didn't stop looking. We had been researching more about the rare creatures during the day and searching for them in clubs and bars during the nights.Dallas hadn't paid much attention to what Elias and I were up to but Dominique was always there to question us or berate me about my intentions with her brothers. It was a cool night and Elias and I had just finished checking the last bar. "That's it. We have to go to Phoenix." He unlocked the car door for me to get in."What are we going to tell Dallas?" I buckled my seatbelt."Road trip to visit your family or something. We'll make s

Chapter 13

Elias returned to his normal self when we returned to the forest. I felt he was in denial of everything that happened in Phoenix but I wasn't about to pester him about it when he didn't want to talk about it.I was just afraid of when reality hit him like a freight train nine months later.Like Storm instructed we hiked into the forest and stood in a clearing on a sunny midday. Elias wasn't sure what a Leprechaun's weakness was which made him angsty. "I carried a pistol," he said kicking some leaves out of the circular path."Is that necessary?" I asked taking the small bell out of my pocket."I don't know its weakness but since it comes from the fae realm maybe iron will do the trick just as well.""You ready?" I asked and he nodded. "Try not hurt it, Elias." We had a plan. I was going to ring the bell and Elias was going to hold the creature down long enough for me to look into its eyes.

Chapter 14

"I want to meet in person. I believe we can help each other. I know the fate that awaits Alpha Creed after his first shift and we cannot allow his death. We've waited a decade for our Alpha. Meet me at the edge of the forest at eleven assuming you getting this message on Thursday. Come alone and Eleanora I will know if you don't. I have your scent." The video stopped and I felt all the hair on my body stand. We were being watched, assumingly by wolves.I began digging in the nightstand where I hid the book Liam gave me about the wolves. I found the book and went straight to the page about the hierarchy of the wolves. It didn't make sense, according to the book Creed would have to be an Alpha's firstborn son to become alpha of a pack. It was the same as a Royal hierarchy. All I knew about Creed's birth parents was that they were killed by wendigo's and that was according to Dallas because Creed was a baby when it happened.

Chapter 15

"No, no don't," Creed rustled in his sleep causing me to wake. Stress lines covered his forehead and his brows dipped as if he was in deep concentration. I wished I could see what it was like in his head. What he went through every day trying to fight off his animal urges. My hands itched to touch his face. Just one touch to see if I could smooth those troubling creases on his forehead. The urge to comfort him and to steal but one touch was strong.Last night when he returned from his shower I pretended to be asleep to avoid having to face him. His wolf wanted me but I wasn't sure if the human did. Hera said we were mates. But how could we be soul mates when we were so different and had different perspectives about the world. We were fire and ice, opposite nature's and destructive in our own way."I can feel you staring at me," his voice was thick and filled with sleep and my pulse quickened. His eyes flut

Chapter 16

As I walked to the house with Hera everyone picked up their heads and looked in our direction. "They all staring at me," I whispered to Hera and she chuckled."Word to the wise El. Whispering around wolves is as subtle as screaming in a person's face." I looked at all of them who stopped what they were doing to look at me. "Goodness you guys are creeping her out," Hera told them and they looked away immediately and continued with what they were initially doing. "Sorry, they just probably curious on why you here so soon." She walked onto the porch of the tall brick-colored house and pulled open the door. "It's your home now," she said extending her arm for me to walk in first. I stepped into the house and my eyes roamed the room.Natural light flooded the house as various leafy plants decorated the corners. The walls were painted an eggshell color and the room had a clean theme of whites and browns. In the center of the room was a

Creed refused to eat, drink or even look at me. It had been four days since I agreed to let the wolves take him. For four days I watched him stubbornly accept death and suffer in silence. I sat on the porch outside the packhouse. I couldn't take the tension between me and Creed anymore. The weather was changing and it looked like there was a storm rolling with how thick grey clouds huddled together to cover up the Arizona sun. "Still nothing?" Hera asked sitting down next to me. "He is stubborn," I said keeping my eyes fixed above at the sky. I've tried everything to get him to drink or eat except force-feeding him. "The full moon is in two days, Eleanora. If he doesn't eat or drink I don't know what will happen to him when he shifts. It might kill him." Hera had been repeating the same words over and over to me for the last few days. I knew what it meant. He wouldn't have the strength to stand all two

Chapter 18

Hera looked nervous as she observed Creed from outside the infirmary. Careful for him not to see her, she stood by the door and peeped at him like a frightened child. The hold he had on this wolf pack still amazed me. They would do anything for Creed yet he hated them and wanted nothing to do with them.He had ordered that none of them come near him and they obeyed and stayed out of the room claiming it was a direct order from their Alpha and they had already disrespected him.I on the other hand didn't care what Mr. Grumpy pants had to say. He wasn't my alpha so I stayed by his side though he snarled, grunted, and growled at my presence. My skin had gotten thick around him and I was used to the hostile silence we shared. It was better than talking to each other because we would end up arguing. He refused to see anything from anyone else's perspective and that infuriated me.I sat in the corner of the room

Chapter 19

The sound of metal scraping on metal got me to open my eyes and see Hera standing by a window. She looked out of the window longingly like she always did. She was missing her son who still didn't return. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you, Luna. But the room was cold it could have used some sunlight," she said turning to face me hiding all traces of sadness."What happened?" I asked sitting up in my bed clutching my head. I felt different. I could see differently. Things were much brighter. I could smell better and the smells were overpowering each other. I could hear the sound of Hera's beating heart and I could hear everyone's talking as well as heartbeats downstairs.I brought my hands up and covered my ears but then I heard the sound of Creed's voice. "I don't know Liam," he sounded scared. "I can't explain why I did that to her.""You bit her," Elias's voice was one of outrage and I touched my neck and remembered th
