Chapter Twenty

Rori was now watching herself get into the bathtub and drift off to sleep. She started to breathe heavily, as her body felt like it was warming up. For some reason The Hex began to move her nails around inside Rori’s skull. “Please, it hurts,” Rori whimpered and tried to pull away, but Kristi was holding her as she cried along with her friend. Suddenly, Kristi fell to the ground, grasping her forearms while she drew ragged breaths. Arthur looked on in complete shock as Rori grabbed The Hex by the shoulders. The two women continued to scream in an agonizing struggle before The Hex finally ripped her fingers out of Rori’s head and the two sank to the ground panting. The Hex reached for Rori, “No!” Kristi screamed, and the obsidian woman hissed, bearing her sickeningly long, thin teeth.  Arthur grabbed his daughter and pulled her t

Chapter Twenty One

Rori rolled over in her sleep, groaning, the weight of her body felt like lead. “That is definitely the last time I will go to some party with Kristi,'' she thought. Rori nestled around the blankets, she was the perfect temperature underneath them but was pretty sure she would be disturbed by Kristi any minute for breakfast, so she opted out of going back to sleep. Rori stretched her body still covered by heavy blankets when she noticed the bedding smelled heavily of smoked wood and burnt sulfur. “had there been a fire at the party last night?”    Rori decided to get up and go to the bathroom, she could still feel one of her shoes on, and that could only mean she also desperately needed a bath. Sitting up, pushing the bedspread from her head, Rori opened her eyes and let them adjust to the stra

Chapter Twenty-Two

Once more the door burst open and Rori screamed louder. Sinking to the floor, she clutched onto the chain on her ankle like it were a security blanket. “Jelly soup Murdok! You scared her again!” Destiny sounded like she was scolding him and Rori was afraid for her. Murdok ignored the young woman's questions. “What the hell are you doing in here? I told you to wait until— why is she loose?”  Rori was curled up so tight on the floor her entire body was beginning to cramp, she sobbed softly into her knees until she heard the pitter-patter of small feet flutter across the floor and soft cool hands touched her shoulders “Hay calm down, nobody is going to hurt you here ok?” Rori looked up at Destiny and noticed that her eyes seemed to twinkle almost as she smiled sweetly. Rori was so very overwhelmed with everything that her br

Chapter Twenty-Three

Rori couldn't help but gawk at Destiny. Her body was the perfect caramel color, her skin looked soft to the touch and the way the water lapped over her small perky breasts had Rori’s heart beating rapidly. The sound of coy laughter had Rori jolting her eyes up to Destiny’s, blushing at the thought of being spotted. “It's alright, I don’t mind, Murdok said you are from the neutral world, and you don’t know anything about us.” Destiny stretched her arms out to the side “come on turn around, so I can clean your hair, the big guy gets cranky if we make him wait forever.” Rori nodded and turned, as Destiny began to wash her hair Rori wondered how she could have ended up in such a crazy world but the melody of Destiny’s voice captured her attention. “Go ahead, ask” Destiny said as she lightly put pressure on Rori's shoulder to get her to lean down more in the water, “tip your he

Chapter Twenty-Four

The Hex snapped her long nails against one another, causing Rori to jolt her attention back to the hauntingly elegant creature. The Hex stepped forward and reached for Rori’s temple when Murdok again snatched her wrist out of the air like a kung fu master. “You will be as gentle as possible, or I will send you back to father in a Lycan Silver casket.” The Hex simply sneered at Murdok’s statement and knelt down to face Rori. Rori licked her lips and tried her best to smile, “don’t worry little pet, I will be as tender as possible,” The Hex reached down and stopped as Rori’s soft cold fingers gently brushed The Hex’s wrist, “did he hurt you?” she asked and for a moment The Hex’s expression was pure shock. “Have not a worry little flower... takes more than an angry dragon to take down The Hex of the Vail.”  A genuine, wide toothed smile spread across

Chapter Twenty-Five

Mina grabbed Aruther by the wrist, squeezing in desperation “Arthur do something... she can’t stay here,” Murdok cocked his head to the side as Mina’s voice echoed down the hall and Arthur turned to his wife, jerking his wrist from her grasp. “What is that supposed to mean, Rori would be just as safe here with Murdok as she would be with us.” Arthur turned to inspect his bride, “where is this coming from Mina...you sound like the Grand Master and half the Vail High Court…” Arthur did not finish as Mina perched her hands on her hips and squared her shoulders. “Maybe they have a point, Art…” Arthur hissed at his wife’s dismissive tone and looked at her as though she had struck him. “Mina this is Murdok you 're talking about,” he reminded her, and she only shook her head. “That’s my point, Arthur! Murdok is a Dragon... or at least half wyvern” Mina tried to plead with her husband, and he took a step away from her.

Chapter Twenty- Six

Rori wasn’t sure how long she cried for but her body convulsed with the creep of a chill and her toes were numb from sitting, she could still hear the disembodied voices of the spectruls Destiny had called for and sat up to the sight of two very kind-looking women whom she could also see right through. Rori stood up and licked her dry lips. “Could you please tell me where I can get something warmer to wear... I don’t mean to be ungrateful, but I am so cold.” One of the spectruls approached her and Rori put her hands at her sides and nodded slightly, the spectrul passed through her and Rori welcomed the joyful feeling, as the translucent woman came back around to greet Rori she smiled. “I heard you were a friendly girl. I see the others don't pull the chain today...how may we serve thee miss?” Rori licked her lips and opened her mouth to tell the housekeeper she didn't need to call her miss when the spectrul made

Chapter Twenty-Seven

As Murdok burst into the room, he noted that the table was full of untouched food. He started to turn and leave when the sound of metal clanking together and a small shriek caught the attention of the beast within. He darted through the swinging door in the corner, only to be met with a flurry of commotion. Every spectrul in the area paused to stare at the master of the house with wide, unsure expressions. Rori noticed that all movement stopped around her, and she followed the line of sight to the large, looming figure in the doorway.   Murdok wasn’t sure why, but as Rori turned, he suddenly wanted to wrap this slight woman in his arms and carry her to a quiet place where they could be alone, and he could just watch her beauty.  Rori smiled and offered a small wave as a timer cried for relief, “oh! Get the souff

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Rori woke screaming and covered in sweat, she felt a cold flurry over the surface of her arm and when she looked to the side a small set of large eyes stared at her. “Yee have the night fits miss,” Andy asked and Rori simply smiled and wiped her forehead “sometimes I do... but it’s alright I am used to them, I just need a glass of cold water to calm them down, and I can sleep.” Andy beamed a a broad grin and disappeared, only to reappear immediately holding a glass so crisp it was frosted over and already sweating. Rori shook her head as she took the cup, “thank you, Andy...how are you so fast?” she asked and watched as the young boy seemed to become almost nervous.  Rori set the glass down on the stone floor and swung her feet off the side of the bed. The weight from the ankle cuff she wore still weighed on her foot, and she sighed heavily. “Everyone here thinks I am just like him... I despise him.” tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as th
