Chapter 30

I'm not where I belong, I don't belong with you!" I screamed. My mark blazed with a fiery passion, fueled by my defiant words. I looked down briefly, and both of my hands were now engulfed in green flames. Raphael looked back at me as he got up off the floor. Surprise, and then hurt filled his eyes which sent a pang of guilt through me. I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings, but this guilt was, no doubt, influenced by the mark. Honestly, I was surprised. I couldn't believe I was able to resist the marks pull. My memories came in jumbled sections. Everything was second to the mark and my need to be close to Raphael, even when I knew I shouldn’t be. “How… how did you do that, Rayne? How are you resisting the marks pull? That is impossible!” He stammered as he started walking back my way. “No Raphael, stay away from me.” I said with conviction. Little did he know I was absolutely shaking inside. I knew that if he came even one step closer that I wouldn’t be able to resist him a

Chapter 31

He sat me down on his bed, moving the gold and black pillows from behind me. Sitting next to me, he took me into his arms. "Thank you. I'm so sorry, I don’t know what happened." I said with sincerity in my voice. “Shhh darling, it’s ok. You’re alright.” He said softly, while running his hand through my silver hair. His demeanor was very different from the Raziel that I usually deal with. All snark and cockiness was absent, replaced with deep concern. It was very strange, but I was too distraught to really focus on the changes. He snapped and produced us both drinks of liquid gold. “Drink, you’ll feel better.” He said. I drank the liquid, sipping it this time rather than taking it as a shot like I had the drink Raphael had given me. Raziel was right. It did make me feel better. Besides the uncomfortable burning of my mark, I was definitely feeling less anxious. My hands weren’t tingly, I didn't feel like I was accidentally calling The Shadows. I wasn’t even really panicking

Chapter 32

I expected to become sick like I had the last time, but the nausea was brief and barely caused me any issue. I didn’t recognize the brilliantly lit city that we were standing in, but it was gorgeous. It gave a vibrant and electric feel with its plethora of grand mansions and ornate ironwork. By the lack of lighthouses and coastal themed buildings, I could tell we weren’t in Maine anymore. There was a very old looking medieval Tavern sitting directly in front of us. I was in awe because it looked like something straight out of a fantasy novel. The weathered timber and cobblestone that makes up the main structure seemed a bit worn. Chipped stone and peeling paint off the wood gave it quite a charming, quaint feel. The roof, while more modern, still had a thatched appearance and I could see moss making its way across the south corner and down the exterior. Long, leaf covered vines strung the expanse of at least two thirds of the entire building. A large wooden sign that

Chapter 33

I tuned back into the conversation just to hear the tail end. “And if she can’t control them?” Rowen inquired. Raziel began to speak. “She ca…” but I cut him off too. “I can.” I said, opening both of my hands on top of the table. Two small green fireballs were dancing within my palms. Rowen gasped. “Well I’ll be damned.” Ramses said with a chuckle. “How long have you been teaching her for?” Rowen immediately asked Raziel. “He hasn’t. Look at his face, he’s just as surprised as we are, brother.” Ramses retorted. “How are you doing that?” Raziel asked. “I’m willing it to happen. Magic does what it is commanded, but telling it isn’t going to work, you have to will it. You have to speak the same language as the magic, in essence. Look.” I said, willing the fireballs both to grow larger in my palms. Now that it had clicked, it was easy. The fire did everything I wanted. Once I was done I willed it away and the fire dissipated. Not once did I waver in the belief that the m

~(Alpha Drake) Fucking Reavers. Always ruining my plans. There is no way that motherfucker is going to let Rayne go if he isn’t her mate, who am I kidding? And now, with Raphael in the mix, and his mark…” I spewed to Samael, who was silently listening. Just the thought of my beautiful Rayne sporting Raphael’s mark infuriated me. I was already preparing for the fact that she may be mated to that fucking Reaver, and if so, I’d have to accept it. A deal is a deal, and I wouldn’t go back on my word. But to have the chance at having her as my Luna… the Luna of the Obsidian pack, the largest, most well-known, and ruthless pack in the world? Even if she hated me? I would give anything. I was pacing back and forth in my office at the pack house. There had to be another way. In fact, I made the deal with him… he never said anything about another Reaver in the mix, nothing about Raphael. This changes everything. The deal is broken. My only issue was I can't mark her myself. I can’

~(Raphael) I stood there in Alpha Drake's office, Shadows writhing at my feet. Alpha Drake had taken his newly risen little sister into his arms, and I could see the tears glistening from his cheeks. I knew calling The Shadows would work. It’s a deal too good to pass up, that is, if they don’t ask for the ultimate sacrifice… which they often did. Unfortunately for him, he was not excluded from this. I, of course, was reluctant. I was not as friendly with The Shadows as Raziel. None of us brothers really were. You had to be willing to give up quite a bit to work with them, and the price usually wasn't worth the prize. However, The Shadows seemed to be my only option because Alpha Drake wasn’t budging. He loved Rayne as well, and I couldn’t help but think of how special she had to be to get the attention of all these people. There was something more about her, something we were missing, there had to be. Anytime I was around her she seemed so innocent and eager to learn so

~(Rayne) With the lessening of my mark I was feeling a lot more confident in my abilities to resist Raphael, should the time come, and I was sure it would. No way he was giving up that easily. He was very patient, and the man was persistent to a T. I may not know much about him, but if he was anything like his brother… he wouldn’t give up so easily. Luckily, I didn’t have to dwell on it because Raziel was great at distracting me. He had gotten us all dressed up in matching attire and told me he had a surprise for me. I was excited but had no idea what to expect. I didn’t really know him, after all. The short interactions I had with him growing up were more terrifying than anything else, and left little room for anything more serious.. So, to take a guess what he might be planning wasn’t something I even attempted. I figured I would just be along for the ride. We left his house hand in hand, which was new to me as well. Us being openly affectionate was something I had nev

Chapter 37

Part of me thought Alpha Drake sounded, sad maybe? I couldn't really place it. This wasn’t his usual venom, and I wondered what might be bothering him, but didn’t think about it too hard. He was right, I was still part of the pack until I turned 21 at least, and I had an obligation. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” Raziel purred, as he flashed me a perfect, cocky smile. “You could just stay here with me, forever. In fact, why don’t you just move in? I'm sorry, that might be fast, but the offer stands.” He smirked. I was flattered. “You know I would love nothing more than to spend every day for the rest of my life with you. But I do have an obligation to my pack. For now, I still have pack duty, and I can't let my pack down.” I said as I looked up at him. Once I turned 21 I would be free of my pack obligations. I would find out who my mate bond had chosen for me, and I would definitely not be Luna of The Obsidian pack. My life was going to change drastically, an

Chapter 38

My eyes fluttered open to my alarm going off at 6am, time to get ready for pack training. I turned to face Raziel and just took a minute to admire his beauty. He looked so peaceful just lying there with his golden blonde hair a mess and not a worry in the world. His chest was rising and falling slowly as he slept. I got up carefully and planned to head to my house to get ready when I realized that Raziel had already laid out a set of clothes for me to wear to training. A black sports bra, gold shorts and gold combat boots. He knew exactly what my style was, and I couldn't help but feel butterflies at the fact that he paid so much attention to what I wore. I threw on the clothes and threw my hair into a messy ass bun. On my way out I grabbed a stick of beef jerky and some cheese. I didn’t eat much in the morning, I found myself rarely hungry. It was a little further to the training grounds from here than from my house. I didn't mind though. That’s when I remembered that my

~(Alpha Drake)"I'm so sorry." I said, and tried to press my lips to Raynes. She, of course, pushed me away, like I figured she would. I wanted her to feel my regret though, and I hoped I had gotten the message through. Even if it hurts me to do it. "What did you do, Alpha?!" Rayne said, with fear in her voice. Guilt flooded into my chest when I saw the look in her beautiful silver eyes. "I'm so sorry." I stammered as a stray tear fell down my cheek. I couldn't believe I had been forced to agree to this. I just wanted to yell for Rayne to run… but I knew I couldn't. If I did, The Shadows could take Reya. After everything I was forced into that ended up giving me her back, I couldn't risk it. I honestly never thought I would be willing to give Rayne up, but I also never knew about The Shadows… and I certainly never thought they could bring someone back from the dead. No wonder Reavers are so powerful, they literally have every supernatural power at their disposal. It's jus
