Chapter 30

Chapter 30 "I'm not where I belong, I don't belong with you!" I screamed, my mark burning under my defiant words. Both of my hands were now engulfed in green flames. Raphael looked back at me as he got up off the floor. Surprise, and then hurt filled his eyes which sent a pang of guilt through me. I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings, but this guilt was, no doubt, influenced by the mark. Honestly, I was surprised. I couldn't believe I was able to resist the marks pull. It was as if my memories were jumbled in my head. Everything else was second to the mark and my need to be close to Raphael, even when I knew I shouldn’t be. “How... how did you do that, Rayne? How are you resisting the marks pull? That is impossible!” He stammered as he started walking back my way. “No Raphael, stay away from me.” I said with conviction. Little did he know I was absolutely shaking inside. I knew that if he came even 1 step closer that I wouldn’t be able to resist him. Everything in my body was saying

Chapter 31

Chapter 31 He sat me down on his huge black and gold bed. Sitting next to me, he took me into his arms. "Thank you. I'm so sorry, I don’t know what happened." I said with sincerity in my voice. “Shhh darling, it’s ok. You’re alright.” He purred, while running his hand through my silver hair. He snapped and produced us both drinks of gold liquid. “Drink, you’ll feel better.” He said. I drank the liquid, sipping it this time rather than taking it as a shot. He was right. It did make me feel better. Besides the uncomfortable burning of my mark, I was definitely feeling less anxious. My hands weren’t tingly, I didn't feel like I was accidentally calling The Shadows. And honestly, the sheer burning of my mark was almost a comfort at this point, telling me that I was right where I needed to be... in Raziel’s arms, and far away from Raphael. “Now tell me about The Shadows, darling.” Raziel Purred. “I’m not sure where to start. I’m not even sure how I called them... but it was like they c

Chapter 32

Chapter 32 (Raphael) “How did she do it? How did she resist the marks pull?” I asked Axel. “She is strong, she is different from a normal Reaver, and she is ours.” Axel growled. “I know she is... she just doesn't know it yet. My brother may think he is top dog, but this will be a battle he will not win. As long as my mark adorns her beautiful face, I still have a chance. And I will not give up that easily.” I told Axel. "She is perfect, she is exactly what I need. Can you imagine it? High Priestess, Rayne, by my side and ruling my Coven’s?" I purred. I pictured her wearing the High Priestess crown and standing strong by my side. I could see her wearing a silver and black long dress with a crisscross back. It had a long slit from the floor to her upper thigh on one side. She looked so beautiful standing there with my mark adorning her face, sparkling in the sunshine. No one would dare step to her, especially by my side. She would be a fierce leader, and not to mention absolutely be

Chapter 33

Chapter 33 “Reaver.” I growled, as I hung up the phone. I eyeballed him for a moment and assumed he was Raphael. Why else would a Reaver approach me, of all people? That is, unless he had business with someone in my pack... Rayne. “You must be Raphael... Can I help you?” I spewed. Yes, he was terrifying, but I wasn’t about to show weakness. I never did with them, and I never would. I looked him dead in the eyes. My gaze didn’t falter in the least. I noticed this Reaver seemed to be different from Mr. Kane. His demeanor was calm and collected, not fiery. He seemed like he may be more of a man of business than his counterpart, who seemed to love violence over anything else. I mind linked my pack, to alert them and have them on standby in case this went bad. “Indeed, I am Raphael. No need to alert the pack... I’m here to make a deal.” Raphael said, with a glint in his eye. How did he know I alerted the pack? What the fuck? Could they hear a mind link? I realized at that moment that I

Chapter 34

Chapter 34 (Raphael) I stood there in Alpha Drake's office, Shadows writhing at my feet. Alpha Drake had taken his newly risen little sister into his arms, and I could see the tears glistening from his cheeks. I knew calling The Shadows would work. It’s a deal too good to pass up, that is, if they don’t ask for the ultimate sacrifice... Which they often did. Unfortunately for him, he was not excluded from this. I, of course, was reluctant. I was not as friendly with The Shadows as Raziel. None of us brothers really were. You had to be willing to give up quite a bit to work with them, and the price usually wasn't worth the prize. However, The Shadows seemed to be my only option because Alpha Drake wasn’t budging. He loved Rayne as well, and I couldn’t help but think of how special she had to be to get the attention of all these people. There was something more about her, something we were missing, there had to be. Anytime I was around her she seemed so innocent and eager to learn so

Chapter 35

Chapter 35 (Rayne) With the lessening of my mark I was feeling a lot more confident in my abilities to resist Raphael should the time come, and I was sure it would. No way he was giving up that easily. He was very patient, and persistent to a T. I may not know much about him, but if he was anything like his brother... he wouldn’t give up so easily. Raziel had gotten us all dressed up in matching attire and told me he had a surprise for me. I was excited but had no idea what to expect. I didn’t really know him, after all. The short interactions I had with him growing up were more terrifying than anything else, and left little room to get to know him. So, to even guess what he might be planning wasn’t something I even attempted. I figured I would just be along for the ride. We left his house hand in hand, which was new to me as well. Us being openly affectionate was something I had never thought would ever be a thing, until now. This also irritated the hell out of my mark. We didn't

Chapter 36

Chapter 36 Part of me thought Alpha Drake sounded, sad maybe? I couldn't really place it. This wasn’t his usual venom, and I wondered what might be up but didn’t think about it too hard. He was right, I was still part of the pack for two more weeks until I turned 21 at least, and I had an obligation. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want to, darling.” Raziel purred, as he flashed me a perfect cocky smile. “You could just stay here with me forever. In fact, why don’t you just move in? I'm sorry, that might be fast, but the offer stands.” He smirked. I was flattered. “You know I would love nothing more than to spend every day for the rest of my life with you. But I do have an obligation to my pack. Only for a few more weeks and then I'm done. But for now, I do have pack duty, and I can't let my pack down.” I said as I looked up at him. Only a few more weeks, and I would be free of my pack obligations. I would find out who my mate bond had chosen for me, and I would definitely not be

Chapter 37

Chapter 37 My eyes fluttered open to my alarm going off at 6am, time to get ready for pack training. I turned to face Raziel and just took a minute to admire his beauty. He looked so peaceful just lying there with his golden blonde hair a mess and not a worry in the world. His chest was rising and falling slowly as he slept. I got up carefully and planned to head to my house to get ready when I realized that Raziel had already laid out a set of clothes for me to wear to training. A black sports bra, gold shorts and gold combat boots. He knew exactly what my style was, and I couldn't help but feel butterflies at the fact that he paid so much attention to what I wore. I threw on the clothes and threw my hair into a messy ass bun. On my way out I grabbed a stick of beef jerky and some cheese. I didn’t eat much in the morning, but a little something always helped. It was a little further to the training grounds than from my house. I didn't mind though, I jogged on the way there trying t

Chapter 38

Chapter 38 (Alpha Drake) "I'm so sorry." I said as I softly pressed my lips to Raynes. She tasted sweet, like coconuts. She, of course, pushed me away, like I figured she would. I wanted her to feel my regret though, and I hoped I had gotten the message through. Even if it hurts me to do it. "What did you do, Alpha?!" Rayne said, with fear in her voice. Guilt flooded into my chest when I saw the look in her beautiful silver eyes. "I'm so sorry." I stammered as a stray tear fell down my cheek. I couldn't believe I had been forced to agree to this. I just wanted to yell for Rayne to run... or to just go, but I knew I couldn't. If I did, The Shadows could take Reya. After everything I was forced into that ended up giving me her back, I couldn't risk it. I honestly never thought I would be willing to give Rayne up, but I also never knew about The Shadows... and I certainly never thought they could bring someone back from the dead. No wonder Reavers are so powerful, they literally hav

Chapter 39

Chapter 39 (Roman) I had been racking my brain to try and figure this shit out for over a month now. I had been losing time, or so I thought. It wasn't like I was blacking out or anything, but just when I woke up it was like a week had passed rather than just a day. But how is that even possible? I know it sounded crazy, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was different. Something wasn’t right, not adding up. The weirdest thing was it seemed like no one else even noticed. I had asked a few of the other Wolves at training and on patrol if they noticed anything weird, but they all thought I was just crazy. I swear only a few days had passed and yet Rayne’s birthday was now in a couple of weeks? Wasn't she just 19? How is she almost 21 now? You can't tell me we lost an entire year or more? Trust me, I paid attention to everything Rayne related, and I would not have missed this. An entire year? Not fucking possible. I thought I had 2 years left of my obligation to watch ov
