Alyssa removed the fur and shot up straight in the bed when she recalled what happened the previous night. She saw a beast and she knew it was him. He had come to protect her. He couldn’t see her in that condition, surrounded by enemies. Her heartbeat raced as her chest tightened. Goosebumps pebbled her skin and she thought that he resented his behavior. “Oh god, Tova, I love you,” she whimpered. She removed her blanket and jumped out of the bed but a sudden ache stopped her. She squeezed her eyes shut and groaned in pain bending on her belly, as the pain traversed through her shoulder sharply. Her right hand was badly injured and she noticed bandages wrapped over there. “Alyssa!” someone called her. “Tova?” she said through her pain.
