MARIEWe arrived at Eclipse without issues, and I’d be sure to tell Mato how much of a drama queen he was about everything when we were back. He acted like as soon as we left pack territory someone was going to ambush us and sell us on the black market. There were only two versions of Mato that I was privy to, the overprotective, suffocating, but angry as hell about it version, or the one where he ignored me completely. I tried to push Mato from my mind, I was out with friends and even though this trip was serving more than one purpose, I wanted to enjoy myself. Even though I didn’t want to take a guard, I was glad that it was Tayo. He was the least annoying of the options and the one that would be easiest to distract so I could go about my life, Ainsley would make sure of that.

MARIE Ragnar didn’t know my secret, but I almost told him a number of times. His tanned skin was beautiful and complimented his golden hair that was so perfectly messy. His magic is more healing in nature, potions being his strong suit, but he wouldn’t have to be magical at all to get my attention.  He’s had my heart since the day he sat with me for hours, describing every little part of me that was perfect to him. Such an innocent moment at the age of seven, and yet it impacted me more than I think he realized. I always felt out of place at home. I wasn’t like my mom, but not like my brothers either, and here with him and Izzy, I could just be myself without them expecting anything from me or holding me to some standard I never thought I’d reach.  “You know who

MYLOI heard Alderic approaching me from behind, his longer stride and laboured breathing a result of him running full tilt to catch up to me. “You’re late,” I stayed focused on our path and refused to relent from my pace.“You’re gonna pretend like I didn’t hear that blonde slinking out early this morning?” Alderic smirked my way and I nudged him with my shoulders as I ran, throwing him into the treeline before I came to a stop.“And yet I made it here on time,” I watched as he brushed himself off, “your problem is that you don’t make them leave," I cocked my eyebrow, "or are you planning on taking her as your chosen mate?”“Of course not,” Ald

MYLO I grasped Rose’s chin roughly. My voice was calm but I could feel my body bulking as Kai came forwards and asserted our dominance, “You will NEVER interrupt me again unless you’d like to lose that tongue.” Her eyes widened and her arousal was quick to disappear, “Learn how to control yourself or don’t come back to training. I won’t have another interruption.” I dropped her chin, “Report to the guardhouse, Mato will be waiting and you will follow Irida’s instructions for the next five days where you will be cooking and cleaning for the men and women who have already completed this course. Try to learn the level of discipline that’s expected of you while you’re there.” I motioned with my chin for her to leave.‘You need to squash this relationship now Mylo, Titan is already

MARIEWe arrived at Moon Rising a few days later where Aunt Jenna showed us up to a room that we could use to get ready for the Carnival and stay in. Tayo was under strict orders to have eyes on me at all times until Mylo got there, which meant having a front-row seat to the Ainsley and Tayo makeout show. Looking at Ainsley I couldn’t help but feel happy for her, even if looking at her also entailed watching Tayo be down her throat. They did fit perfectly together, like I had missed all the signs growing up and wondering who Tayo would end up with.Tayo was quiet in comparison to Alderic and Mylo, always trying to learn new techniques and incorporate more technology into both the pack and the security business. Where Mylo was stoic, Tayo was emotional and where Alderic was a class clown, Tayo reminded me of the

Mylo’s gaze was focused on me in a way I came to realize was him analyzing me. I hated it when he looked at me like this. Trying to figure out things that I didn't want him to know, that I was masking. We'd been taught as children how to keep our defences up and control our tells, but they were easier to control when you were on alert and in front of people you had to be guarded in front of. Being in front of family was a whole other thing because they knew you intimately. It was dad's ultimate test, if you could hide your reactions from each other, you could hide them from anyone.  He was dressed formally for the Alpha meeting and his hazel eyes were intimidating when he was laid back, never mind when he was in full Alpha mode. I could see why the she-wolves in any pack I went to talked about him, he was dangerous

MYLO Marie. This little sister of mine was the only one, besides Miah maybe, that could get away with pushing back at me like she did. I could see the same fire in her eyes that all the Krul children had, but there was a sense of untouchability to her.  I suppose it was my own fault, growing up Alderic and I had always placed her and Ainsley on a pedestal with us, it gave them a false sense of position and power which has only become a problem as of late.  She looked stunning as I hand-delivered her to Mato. Her green eyes caught the attention of the two other guards who were to follow them around. They quickly diverted their attention, but I couldn't fault them. Marie’s eyes matched my father’s, only rivalled in their deep intensity by the eye colouring of the r

MYLO  “We no longer go to such extremes, Dixon, and wolves are not Fae. I think we should keep an eye on this problem and revisit it.” Without a word, Alderic is up and escorting Dallas back into the building at my request.  “Hold your tongue,” I challenged Dallas, “or you’ll find yourself hard-pressed to be able to use it.” Alexander stood up, bulking and breathing heavily so I matched his stance, I was larger than anyone here and I had every confidence in Kai’s fighting abilities.  “Fae are the ones being made into blood bags as a source of drugs for the increasing Vamp population,” I continued, “something you should consider as being the larger problem here. Fae don’t have time or resources to challenge us when they are too busy running from the Vamp’s and they never have to begin with.” I turned my at

MARIEMato was all but dragging me around, pausing every so often to survey the passing people and give himself enough time to take in the scents around him. The only fun part of this was catching glimpses of the games going on and being able to snag some cotton candy. Thankfully I had Ainsley to drag onto a few rides with me during Mato’s pauses, and it seemed to pass the time quickly. With no scent, I was confident that I wouldn’t attract my mate, but there was always that chance. I’ve heard stories of mates knowing who their mate was before they were even old enough to have wolves, my mother being one of them, and mates being drawn to each other no matter what, like the queen and her kings, but I had to push those thoughts to the back of my mind. Surely those were extreme circumstances, I mean the queen was an Alpha, and my mother is a pretty

ALDERIC Leto wasn't thrilled when I shifted back into control. He had spent the better part of two days redirecting Kai back to Timber, and now that we were finally home he didn’t trust that Kai wouldn’t just take off again.  I’m surprised he got him to come back at all, but the promise of more wolves, our best tracker, and the safety of our sisters is all that coaxed him here. I can’t say I would do any differently, he was desperate for the scent of his mate, and the rejection… the rejection.  I can’t understand why someone would immediately reject their mate. I wasn’t about to talk suspicions with Mylo, but she could already be with someone she considers a mate but hasn’t marked, or she could be the kind who doesn’t believe in mates, hell, she could even be a Marie. She believes in mates, she just doesn’t wa
