Utter bewilderment

ALEX's P.O.V ~~~   I was surprised when a bunch of people came up right after Shantal and the others left. I was planning to close the restaurant as soon as they were away, but I guess I would have to delay it for now. Because obviously I cannot just simply shut the door and tell our customers to go eat somewhere else. However, what got me even more surprised than I already am, was when the man turned out to be the same person who booked the lunch appointment. It left me wondering if he just did not get the memo. Because I clearly saw with my own eyes that Auntie Hersia called them this morning to settle the arrangement. But then realization dawned on me. I recalled Auntie Hersia telling me that she only got to talk with the receptionist of the hotel. Most likely than not, this guy over here decided to gather a group of grown-up men first thing in the morning and left his accommodation early, and that was how the recepti

No peace, no food

SHANTAL's P.O.V  ~~~~     "I am not sure if I was supposed to tell you guys about this. But I remembered the old lady leaving in a hurry this morning."  When I heard Sam saying those words, something inside me was awaken as though a light that has been flicked by a blow. I knew that it was not right for me to feel delighted after hearing that news. But I just could not help it, because it felt to me like even fate was making its way to give me and Alex a chance to work together. I guess love really moves in a mysterious way that even the wisest of men would not be able to fathom its ways. "Are you meaning to say that Alex was the only person who was inside the resto as we speak?" I tried my best to sound nonchalant when I asked Sam that question. At the same time. I heard Jodi asking the other party as well right after me. "Will he be able to accommodate all

To the rescue

As soon as I got to the kitchen, I took the apron that belonged to the old lady and started wearing it. I heard Alex's footsteps following behind me but I did not pay him any heed. "What do you think you are doing? You were supposed to get out. You promised me, remember?"  He asked me just as when I was busy to tie the lace of my apron. So I turned to him and rather than answering his question, I asked him a question of my own. "Can you cut sashimi?"  He shook his head before saying. "No?"  He sounded sheepish when he admitted that and I honestly found it cute. However, I did not allow it to show in my face. I kept a straight face and with a nonchalant attitude, I asked him one more question. "Have about pajeon? Do you know how it should be served? "I have not tried preparing one yet."  Alex replied without bothering to hide the truth. "Well, I can. So I will leave right after doi

Queen of the kitchen

Alex was not a bad cook himself. In fact, living an apartment with no one but himself for as long as he could remember left the other party with no other choice but to learn the deed, along with other chores that one has to master if they wanted to live a decent life alone. However, unlike Shantal who not only has a specific liking for culinary but also happened to take a unit related to one, the girl clearly has an edge. It was for that same reason why despite they both used to live alone, Shantal was capable of cooking for many while Alex could not; he only knew how to do a single serving of food, and attempting to cater for a considerable number of customers was definitely out of his option, especially when there was someone else's business that was at stake. Besides, Alex was not confident that the taste would be at their liking, to begin with. That was why, in the end, he relented and allowed Shantal to work in the kitchen. Meanwhile, from how Shantal carri

Please don't jinx me

ALEX's POV First of all, I know how to cook! How do you expect me to survive on my own up to this point, if I don't even know how to prepare my own food? Overtime, I learned that buying groceries and making my own food was relatively cheaper than dining out. Regardless of how many vouchers and  discounts you offered me, it won't change my opinion regarding this one.  Besides, I am confident to say that I could be one of the most prudent person you could ever meet to the point that I would try to save any bucks I could if there was a chance for me to do so. I simply don't have spare change to afford food deliveries every single day. But at the same time, I would not go claiming that I am good at it. Maybe, mediocre. I guess? Honestly, I could not tell since no one had commended me about it yet, which was to be expected, in the first place considering that I never attempted to cook for anyone other than for myself.

Come what may

There were only two options left for Alex to choose from. Either he would brace himself to dealing with angry customers after telling me there was no way that they could get food to eat from their place. At most he might just end up getting eaten alive by this group of hungry people or he would accept the helping hand that Shantal was offering to him together with the assistance of three more heads on top of it; clearly, the latter was a better option compared to the former. However, both choices also led to their own set of risks. If Alex would stick to the first choice, he would be tarnishing the good reputation that Auntie Hersia had painstakingly worked for over the years. In the worse case scenario, he might even end up ruining the overall business. On the other hand, if he would allow Shantal and the others to stay and helped him in the kitchen, it would delay them from going back home. Thus, increasing the risk of their lie getting exposed. Alex was compl

teamwork

Not long after, Shantal and Alex could already be seen working in the kitchen in incredible harmony with one another. One was busy in front of the stove cooking several foods all the same time. While the other one was in the middle of attending the dishes, washing in front of the running water. It was as if they were made to specifically assist each other and even Jodi and the others were surprised when they noticed how well their teamwork was. "How is it?" Shantal asked Alex when she had him tasted the food on the pot. However, the other party only nodded his head and gave her a vague answer. "Hmmm.. not bad." Alex did not intend to appear indifferent. However, he was distracted. For some reason, he kept on throwing a nervous glance at the specific location where the trays as well as the saucer plates were placed in a pile. While Shantal was not looking, the guy edged closer to the plates. He extend

Mind seems to be drifting on the outer space

SHANTAL's P.O.V~~~~ I was in the front of the stove, cooking different kind of foods all at the same time. Due to the fact that we were running out of time, I was left with no choice but to multitask. Not that I am not used to, though. But while I was busy cooking, the corner of my lips also could not help but quirked up. I was simply happy by the thought of a having a chance to work with Alex within the same space. It was for this simple reason why I could hardly stop a smile from showing on my face. Not only I know how to cook, I even prided myself to be good at it. Something that should not be surprising. After all, I was known for topping the class when I took culinary course to pass time. I don't need help in cooking, I wanted to prepare every single detail of it all by myself. So when I got to the kitchen, rather than letting Alex do some small tasks like chopping and sort,

Meanwhile, Harold and the two girls were left to tend to the needs of the rowdy customers. They have too many requests! Water here, water there. I there trying to fill an big aquarium inside their stomach? Or by any chance, a swimming pool? It was as if these people was determined to make the most out of the free water service and they would only stopped once the place ran dry. But while the two girls were just about to deliver another tray full of glasses of drinkable water, Harold took one from  Jodi's because he noticed that the other party was having a hard time carrying it. Harold did not say a thing as he took the tray from Jodi. Sam, on the other hand, saw how Harold helped the other party and she could not help but feel that it was so unfair. The guy was not treating them the same even though they were both exhausted. "Does Harold like this girl

Satisfied Customer

Pipping hot food was served to satisfy the customer and it took no time before the group of starving people finished everything that was put in their table. "Try some." "You must have  some." "This one smells good." "Wait! Let me give it a taste first." "Hmmmm. I think this food is my new favorite." "I never tasted something as delicious like this before." "Try this!" "Geez! This sashimi is the best!" These kind of conversation was the topic that has been going on as the people was in the middle of chowing down the dished prepared by Shantal.  It was clear for all eyes to see that they liked the food; basically everything suit their pallete.  Finally it was time for them to leave! "Here you go." Manuel said as he
