Chapter 40 Last One Standing

I opened my palms and pushed the car towards her. There was an irritating skid as the car flew towards her. Rachel jumped up and landed on top of the car that took her back a few feet away from me.Hey eyes widened the moment the skidding stopped and turned to face me. “You really have to learn how to use that strength of yours.” She says.“I was in control.” I grinned as I made a stance, and then I went for her the moment I saw her touching her gun. I was trying to tap on the chip on her chest to get him over with, but Rachel must have been training because she was very fast on her feet. No wonder she was able to outrun a frog metahuman and dodge its attacks. And here I thought I contributed something to their safety while clinging to the back of a mutant frog.

Chapter 41 Byron's Proposal

I stared at the ceiling as the scene started to change. The blue sky, that was created by a hologram, was now replaced by the dull lighting ceiling in the training room. I felt my body being slowly lowered down on the ground as the pixels of the building that we were lying on started to dissipate.I saw Jack looking down at me with an awkward smile on his face. “Come on.” He offered me a hand, which I took, and allowed him to pull me up. I dusted my butt and saw my other teammates heading towards us with a really nervous look on their faces.“Huddle up, team. I would hate to see the general knowing that we lost.” Falco says through his nervous smiles.“It was a close call though.” Duke says and places a hand on my shoulder with a nod of approval. “It was just a millisecond d

Chapter 42 Exclusive Tour by Byron

Skyr raised an eyebrow at Byron’s question. “Fifi?”“She’s the one and only piliosaur.” Byron says and explains to him what kind of creature she is. Meanwhile, I slowly backed away until I was beside my other team.“Guys? Would it be rude to decline a demigod’s request?” I whispered to them while still looking at the exchange between Byron and Skyr.“Yes.”“Definitely.”“Of course.”“Yep.”“Sweetie, no one says no to the demigod unless you’re a general like Skyr.”

Chapter 43 Baby Girl

The moment the elevator door dinged and opened, I could barely hear my surroundings. My heart was beating so fast that I felt like I was getting dizzy and couldn’t focus my attention to my surroundings. I hoped out of the elevator and placed a hand on the door as I slowly got out of the elevator. My ears were ringing and I could tell from the dark waters outside of the glass walls that I am at a lower level of the facility. The room was empty as if it was some kind of unfinished part of the Oceanary. What does Trei want me to see here? It was empty. Is this a prank? If it was then it was actually a clever one as the code actually worked.I started to head towards one of the glass walls to see what was outside. Maybe he wanted me to see something out there?

Chapter 44 Your friendly Sea Creature...Fifi!

“Holy shit. Holy shit.” Skyr was whispering beside me frantically as Fifi emerged from the pool.I was able to successfully return to the group without them knowing where I went. I simply told them that I got lost, which was more likely to happen since Byron was taking us to weird places in the facility. They were pretty much done with the tour that I arrived just in time for Skyr to meet Fifi. It was worth it to be honest. To see how pale and nervous that he got. Fifi started to dip it’s head towards us. Skyr noticed this as well and pulled me behind him to hide me from the sea monster.Fifi’s snout was above us that water started to rain upon Skyr and I, drenching our hair with sea water. She let out a loud wail that we had to cover our ears in fear that we might go deaf. That and the

Chapter 45 Surprise

“Hey, excuse me umm...fellow Atlantean guy. I just wanna ask.” I paused as I addressed one of the workers in the garden wearing a green suit. “Do you know of a guy named Trei? Dark hair and silver eyes?”The girl cocked her head to the side in wonder. “Sorry, miss. We don’t know of a guy named Trei. But if you are looking for one with silver eyes then maybe you are looking for Colt.”Colt. That’s Trei’s last name. It must be him.“Can you tell me where I can find him?” I inquired. As a reply, the girl pointed towards one of the greenhouse to our right. I nodded at her. “Thanks!” And then I headed towards the greenhouse. There was no door or beeper for me to scan so I was able to go in wit

Chapter 46 Cave of Sharks

“What is with all your long faces?” Skyr wondered out loud as he watched us mope while staring at the water. “I thought you guys would be excited about this place?”“Yeah, general. The place is great.” Gray responded.“But the fact that it is filled with sharks and that this is also a part of your surprise drill is kind of a deal breaker.” Vie sighed.Skyr crossed his arms over his chest in a very dangerous manner. “That is enough! Attention!” At his command, we immediately stood up straight and faced him. “I don't want to hear any complaints. Yesterday, we lost to Squadron B. And I don’t want to hear any excuses that it was not a fair battle and that they outnumbered you. In fact, it was a fair match since Lord Byron was on your side.” He

Chapter 47 Schedule

“Max!” Byron continued to yell at the Kraken that was treating the water as its fishing spot as it scoped up shark after shark. So far, it had caught three that it was raising in the air as if it was playing with it. “Don’t you dare put them in your mouth!” Byron ordered and the Kraken paused. It’s reptilian eyes turned and studied its master before it dropped the sharks down none too gently from the same height that it was carrying them. And then, Byron pointed a finger at him. “Good. Now it is time for you to go back before any of the surface dwellers sees you.”There was a sound that resembled a protest coming from Max when Byron told him to go home. “I don’t want to hear any excuses, Max. Go back. Now.” Byron said firmly. All of us were looking at the exchange closely as Skyr drove the

Chapter 48 Bucket List

“Hey.” I greeted Skyr as soon as I saw him by the bridge of a pond. He was just there leaning on the railing and looking at the pond in concentration. When he heard my voice, he immediately looked up and smiled. “You made it.” He said and moved a little bit to the side in order to make some room for me. I leaned on the railing at the space beside him and watched as he kept staring at the water with a solemn look on his face.“Gen...I mean, Skyr?”“Hm?”“What’s wrong?” I asked. He did not answer. Instead, his eyebrows drew closer and his mouth formed into a thin line. He gripped his hands in front of him tightly to stop them from shaking. “Is this about what happened earlier? With Falco?” I gues

Chapter 49 Upgrades

“Hey. Eyes on me, Nat!” Rachel was clicking her hands in front of my face as I continued to stare at an empty space.I couldn’t help it. I was too busy worrying about...EVERYTHING!Even though it has been a week already, I was busy wondering when I would meet Trei again. Busy thinking about Skyr’s departure and, most of all busy thinking about these estranged powers that I seem to have.I shook my head and the thought away so I could focus on the task at hand. “Right. Sorry.” I mumbled. “I didn’t get much sleep last night. I was...stressed.”Rachel and I were walking in the marketplace to find some new gears to customize her new handgun. Well not exactly a gear, but for a program update. I never knew that guns could b
