“Hey, excuse me umm...fellow Atlantean guy. I just wanna ask.” I paused as I addressed one of the workers in the garden wearing a green suit. “Do you know of a guy named Trei? Dark hair and silver eyes?”
The girl cocked her head to the side in wonder. “Sorry, miss. We don’t know of a guy named Trei. But if you are looking for one with silver eyes then maybe you are looking for Colt.”
Colt. That’s Trei’s last name. It must be him.
“Can you tell me where I can find him?” I inquired. As a reply, the girl pointed towards one of the greenhouse to our right. I nodded at her. “Thanks!” And then I headed towards the greenhouse.
There was no door or beeper for me to scan so I was able to go in wit
“What is with all your long faces?” Skyr wondered out loud as he watched us mope while staring at the water. “I thought you guys would be excited about this place?”“Yeah, general. The place is great.” Gray responded.“But the fact that it is filled with sharks and that this is also a part of your surprise drill is kind of a deal breaker.” Vie sighed.Skyr crossed his arms over his chest in a very dangerous manner. “That is enough! Attention!” At his command, we immediately stood up straight and faced him. “I don't want to hear any complaints. Yesterday, we lost to Squadron B. And I don’t want to hear any excuses that it was not a fair battle and that they outnumbered you. In fact, it was a fair match since Lord Byron was on your side.” He
“Max!” Byron continued to yell at the Kraken that was treating the water as its fishing spot as it scoped up shark after shark. So far, it had caught three that it was raising in the air as if it was playing with it. “Don’t you dare put them in your mouth!” Byron ordered and the Kraken paused. It’s reptilian eyes turned and studied its master before it dropped the sharks down none too gently from the same height that it was carrying them. And then, Byron pointed a finger at him. “Good. Now it is time for you to go back before any of the surface dwellers sees you.”There was a sound that resembled a protest coming from Max when Byron told him to go home. “I don’t want to hear any excuses, Max. Go back. Now.” Byron said firmly. All of us were looking at the exchange closely as Skyr drove the
“Hey.” I greeted Skyr as soon as I saw him by the bridge of a pond. He was just there leaning on the railing and looking at the pond in concentration. When he heard my voice, he immediately looked up and smiled. “You made it.” He said and moved a little bit to the side in order to make some room for me. I leaned on the railing at the space beside him and watched as he kept staring at the water with a solemn look on his face.“Gen...I mean, Skyr?”“Hm?”“What’s wrong?” I asked. He did not answer. Instead, his eyebrows drew closer and his mouth formed into a thin line. He gripped his hands in front of him tightly to stop them from shaking. “Is this about what happened earlier? With Falco?” I gues
“Hey. Eyes on me, Nat!” Rachel was clicking her hands in front of my face as I continued to stare at an empty space.I couldn’t help it. I was too busy worrying about...EVERYTHING!Even though it has been a week already, I was busy wondering when I would meet Trei again. Busy thinking about Skyr’s departure and, most of all busy thinking about these estranged powers that I seem to have.I shook my head and the thought away so I could focus on the task at hand. “Right. Sorry.” I mumbled. “I didn’t get much sleep last night. I was...stressed.”Rachel and I were walking in the marketplace to find some new gears to customize her new handgun. Well not exactly a gear, but for a program update. I never knew that guns could b
I started to head towards the direction of the shop when an alarm from my cuff stopped me. It was blazing red. Meaning it was an urgent call from our general.Rachel saw it too and winced. “Aw man. Now of all times.” She sighed, to which I offered her an apologetic look as I would no longer be able to accompany her on her shopping.“Sorry.” I told her.“iIt’s fine. I understand that There’s nothing we can do about it.” She told me with a grin. “After all, what we are doing is saving lives. Go on before you’re late.”I nodded at her before running back to the main sector.****“Sorry
I do believe that we just jinxed the difficulty of our mission. I mean, what are the odds that we were able to meet Liv here?“Run run run!” Byron yelled as he pushed me towards the tube that connects this sub to our sub. We were already halfway there when the ship began to shake uncontrollably, making us fall to the ground and skid sideways. When we looked back, the leviathan had the submarine in its mouth and was shaking it uncontrollably with us along with it.“Nathalia, Byron!” Byron and I looked up to see that Skyr was there by the entrance of the tube and threw a rope at us. We grabbed the rope and allowed Skyr to pull us towards him just before Liv managed to tear the ship into two. I gulped as I imagined what would have happened if Skyr had not pulled us away just in time.
“Give them some space.” Falco says as he ordered the others, who were all starting to crowd us as soon as we returned to the sub. We were all silent as they gave us a towel to dry our hairs.“Falco, drive us back to Atlantis.” Skyr ordered him as he ruffled his hair with the towel before setting it to hang over his shoulders. I did the same but more gently. “Can you all give us a minute while we rest in the other room?” Skyr says as he got up and gave both Byron and I a look. He doesn’t even need to say anything as we can already tell what he wanted us to do.Byron and I gave each other one last look before we got up as well. For some reason, my body wasn’t really feeling well that my knees started shaking. I don’t know if it is from shock or the fact that I am too nervous by what Skyr wanted to
And there it was. I wasn't even surprised about that revelation. Well maybe a little because it was hard to believe since I grew up without a sibling. The only kid I remember growing up with me is Trei and even he was a little bit on the frenemy side.“Twins...twins you say.” Byron was staring at the ground, stunned as he said the words out loud.“This is-” I started to try and speak my mind, but Colt raised a hand to stop me.“If we want to further discuss this topic, we need to go elsewhere. Lord Byron, care to share your secret spot? Like the one in the lake?”“How did you-”“I said that if you want to ask more, we have to go somewhere secure.” The t
“Take her. Quick!” I felt Skyr lowering me down into the sub as Byron reached up to grab me. I heard the lock clicking above us before Skyr started yelling again. “Get us out of here. Now.”“What about the others?” Byron asked after he lowered me to the cold ground.I reached out to touch Byron’s shoulders and shook my head weakly at his question. Both of his brows shot up in dismay before he bit his lips and started rummaging through the first aid supply kit.I felt the sub starting to move and lowering itself into the water. “Can’t this thing go any faster?!” Skyr demanded.“This is the fastest that we can go. My allies are still opening the gate!” Trei yelled.
“Is the afterlife really that boring that you decided to come back to life?” I grinned as I pulled Skyr back to his feet.“More or less. I heard that you got captured and figured that it is not the time for me to die just yet. More importantly, we have to keep on going.” He ruffled my head and pointed at the attic from where he came from. “Come on. Let’s get out of here.” He helped me climb up on the air vent first before climbing in himself and closing the vent. “Move over so I can guide us.” He whispered.I pressed myself closer to the wall and allowed Skyr to crawl past me. The vent wasn’t as narrow as I thought because we could even crawl without hunching our backs, which is a huge relief since I am a bit claustrophobic.
I was doing some sit ups when an unexpected visitor arrived. At first, I was smiling because I thought that it was Byron. But when I saw Lord Ylgarr entering along with 4 freir sentinels, my smile dropped and was replaced with a frown.“Took you a while to visit. I was starting to wonder if I actually scared you.” I smirked when I saw his face forming a frown.“Insolence!” One of the sentinels tried to grab my shirt but I grabbed his arm first and twisted it.“I may be insolent but I am still a demigod. Do not think for one second that I couldn’t break this arm of yours.” I threatened him before letting go of his hand. A look of pure hatred spread across the man’s face as he returned to his position. He was probably trying to act cool to threaten me.
I have no sense of time here, but I do know when a day would pass. There was a schedule for when I would eat and when I would bathe. If I want to use the toilet in between, I would simply need to call for them with the red button. The only time that I ever get any visitors is when Byron would drop by.About six escorts would pick me up everyday to take me to the bathroom and then back to the holding cell where they are keeping me.Byron rarely visits. It was making me anxious just thinking about him all the time that I started doing some training on my own. Nothing too strenuous. Just the normal exercises that we do to keep in shape. But if this really keeps up, I might lose my sense of combat. There’s only so much that a few pushups and cardio can do.
Byron squeezed my hand to prevent me from saying anything. Among all other things, I remembered that there was one thing that we have not shared with the others. It was the fact that we know about the burned marks. And it was an advantage that Byron doesn’t want to let go. Well, assuming that it would help us.“I thought Atlanteans never got any scars. Why do you have one?” It was a smart and safe move coming from him. It would clear some doubts on why I hesitated when I saw his mark.Ylgarr immediately covered his chest with the hanging cloth from his torn suit. “It was a war from a long time ago.” He answered and pointed a look at Byron. “Byron, for now I will overlook this simply because I am at fault for provoking your sister as well. But I had to do something to
My footsteps echoed inside of the stoned floor of the building. Numerous advanced looking drones floated in the air and guards were lined everywhere. Two double doors waited for us at the end of the hallway that automatically opened as soon as we entered.A long table greeted me. At the end of it was a man with long white hair and very pale skin. His eyes were almost white and his fingers were long and bonney. He smiled when he saw me. “Ah, Nathalia Trayce, welcome. Please join me for breakfast.”I saw the two royal sentinels giving me a warning look before I addressed the man in front of me. “Lord Ylgarr.” I bowed. “It would be an honor.” I am not sure of the formalities here, but I am just going on instinct and bowing. I wasn’t sure at first if the person was exactly Lord Ylgarr, but by the small c
Black cloud surrounded an island. An eerie and ominous aura emitted from it. There were no signs of life there. No grass, no tree, and not even a single fish would roam around the island. It was like the island was dead.Isolated from the world for a reason.‘Come to me.’ It beckoned. I felt a sudden strange pull, but I resisted. The voice was kind but there was something about it’s tone. The acidity that it kept hidden. ‘Master, it is me. Come and set me free.’No.I tried to say the words out loud but I cannot seem to do that. I have no voice. My vision suddenly darkened. Then I saw three strikes of lightning followed by the appearance of those glowing red orbs glaring at me
I was disappointed. It has been a week after our trip to the amusement park and I haven’t seen Byron or Skyr within those days. It’s not like we all got into a fight. It’s just that we were only following Skyr’s orders. To lay low for a little while.Because of that I didn't even get to train with Byron and learn more tips and tricks on how to control my gifts. Thankfully, aside from my abnormal strength as they would call it, my other gifts only manifest when I am near sea creatures. But I did confirm another gift though. Breathing underwater. It did not sit well for me at first because I grew up on land. I do not find breathing in water natural or even possible. That was why I did it whenever I took a bath. I changed my
“What was that? Who screamed?” Byron jumped onto his feet in full alert as screams erupted all around us. I had to grab the back of Byron’s collar just as he was about to run towards the location of the screams. “What are you doing, Nathalia? People are in danger! Let go of my hand.”I sighed. All I want to do right now is to run and hide. We were still at the entrance, lining for our ticket and people were already staring at us. “He’s...roleplaying. He can be such a weeb.” I said and forced him to come closer to me so I can whisper in his ears. “They’re just having fun! It’s called an amusement park for a reason!” I hissed.Byron seemed to realize his mistake and finally calmed down. He looked up at the roller coaster that could be seen from where we were. “So tha
