 Kit was over her head when she thought about the situation all day about everything. The more she thought about everything she knew, the more she felt lost.  Mitsuhide went on his days like normal though his house didn’t seem like his anymore. He was struggling with the concept of not having her to talk too. He knew he had to try to make this right. He had lost more than just a friend. He had lost his heart that night with his words. She had been his rock.  Kit walked in the room and instantly wanted to leave it. She hated saying goodbye. She looked at the growing abdomen that held the twins she had begun to think of as her children, and she wanted to cry know this was the last time she would be able to see them. June and the twins had been the center of her life with Mitsuhide. This was the last thing to remove his memory from her mind.  Mitsuhide took Kit back to her house, where he went on to show her how much he missed her the past few weeks and also how much he did truly love her. It started with a simple back rub and then progressed. He knew he would spend the rest of his life paying for that one mistake, if only his mind. He knew it had cost them both something that he wished he could completely take back, but he knew he couldn’t. He also, for the first time, realized the simple power of love in those hours.   Time passed again in the way it always does. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Though Mitsuhide wanted Kit back on the base but she kept her offices in the hospital to be closer if anything happened to June and the twins. It was a debate they had almost daily. She had decided to keep the post, but she would work via link from now on. Life was moving on, and so were they. After a debate on him moving into the house which he had won. All of Mitsuhide’s things had been moved to her house, and they were striving to make everything work between them. They were stronger now that they at least knew the basic truth of the situation.  The idea was to get June to at least thirty-three weeks and no more than thirty-six. The fact that the two boys were growing at a normal rate for a singleton pregnancy was proving to be difficult for the doctors to work with, but they were trying. There were many discussions not that June was at thirty-three weeks but possibly further along. No one knew exactly how to go on with her treatment. June was a medical marvel at this point, not only surviving through to this point in the pregnancy but the fact she was carrying two what seemed to be full-sized healthy babies.  When she got to work, she checked in with the morgue and saw there were only two bodies there, and both had been assigned to the other doctors there. She knew they were cutting her workload the closer to the time that June was going to have the babies. Her boss, who had taken an interest in the case on a personal level through the news reports on it, was shocked to find out that she was a part of it at all. As the time went on, he had been changing her hours and working with her to find anything that could be of help to June or the twins. Most of the doctors around her had been doing that and even debating the outcomes of new treatments. Everyone had stepped up and tried to help at some point.  “What the hell do you mean it is time?” Mitsuhide called out after her as she had turned out the door and started to her car.“June is in labor.” Kit said as she called over her shoulder. “Sometime when we were in there, she started to have contractions. They are moving her and trying to stop them.  “But it is still too early for them,” Mitsuhide said as he thought about what she said. A fear washed over him for a minute as he looked around to all the activity going on around him. “They have to stop it.”“Twins naturally come early. Mitsuhide, we have everyone and everything doing what needs to be done. Even a few more hours is good right now. Though they will have to keep an eye on her because of the surgery but everything is going to the plan they set out for this happening.  Kit walked into the operating room prepared to act if she was needed. This was still her mindset, and she knew that was also the reason Mitsuhide wanted her in there with his sister. He would be behind the doors watching as everything happened through a window so they both could see their sons being born. She stood at the end of the table where June’s head was, and she looked down at her. Life was going to change in the next five minutes. All because Mitsuhide’s sister made it this far.
