Chapter Twenty

"This looks good on you, Nola." "No this looks good too," "And this also!" Luna rubbed her face in frustration. She threw herself on the bed with lots of dresses laid there. I smiled lightly at her.

Chapter Twenty-One

I'm already tired It was already nearing night time when we left Kalakhaan Island. I almost sunburned my skin swimming on both sides of the islet. The seawater itself was warm. It's scary to go further from the land. I feel like there's some kind of sea monster that will pull me down the sea. I always cringe every time I think about the sea snakes on the rocks. I imagined it crawling on my feet. It made me shiver. "You fine?" Aries asked me suddenly. We are already in the car at it seems that we are heading somewhere. We crossed another island, but this time our cars were with us. It was nearing dawn and the boys at the back are already sleeping soundly in their seats. I laughed at their position. Link's head is resting on Malcolm's shoulder and Malcolm's head is resting on the car's window. Ynigo and Keegan are on the other side of the car, their head is rested on the windows of

Chapter Twenty-Two

We've already returned to Manila. When we left the hacienda, Mamita was in tears. We were the last to leave, Aries and I. Luna and her friends were among the first to depart. Their semester break is coming to an end, and they will resume classes the following day. The next day, Aries' friends left with Mama Sadie and Uncle Leanna. "What's up, everyone! I've returned!" When I walked into the living room, I yelled. When they heard my voice, the maids in the kitchen panicked. They greeted us before taking our luggage from the car. "Hello there, Rosa! I've been missing you!" I told the house's chief servant. Rosa laughed and was about help in carrying the luggage, Aries stopped her. I smiled as I clung to her arm. When she noticed my grin, she shook her head. "Miss Nola, we missed you as well. Because you weren't present, the house was deafeningly quiet "In a formal tone, she

Chapter Twenty-Three

WAIT A DAMN MINUTE! He dragged me upstairs to his office as I was still trying to process what he had said to me. Because I was preoccupied with what was going on at the time, I let him drag me up. I just stood there in the middle of his office, stunned, as he shut the door. When he faced me, he was panting as if he had run a hundred miles. As he walked towards me, he stared at me and his blue eyes conveyed thousands of emotions. "Let's talk," he said, his voice deep and baritone. In my nervousness, I swallowed my saliva. I saw how his Adam's apple went up the down. As he was walking towards me, I keep on walking backward until my but felt his table. He was already inches near me, so I raised my hands to prevent him from coming any nearer to me. He put his hands on the table, so I was trapped in his arms. I was about to do the limbo-rock on him but using his left hand, he gently pushed me back inside his little cage.

Chapter Twenty-Four

It was already twelve o'clock in the morning. When we entered the room, Niah was already asleep. I walked over to her bed and stroked her hair. She's just sleeping soundly. She appears paler and thinner than she did previously. Her health must have suffered as a result of the new treatment. I exhaled a sigh. "Niah, it'll

Chapter Twenty-Five

I blinked my eyes open. The sight of the familiar white walls greeted me. Aristotle was sitting on a stool beside my bed, I noticed. He was clutching my hand while his head was down. I sat up slowly, which jolted him awake. "Nola!" he exclaimed, immediately standing up to assist me in resting my back on the headboard.  When they heard Aries, Link, Keegan, Malcolm, and Ynigo all stood up. Gio returned to Samar, which is why he isn't here. "What happened?" While massaging my temples, I talked.  "You passed out. The doctors performed some tests for you," he replied. I turn my head to look at my sister's bed. It finally occurred to me. She's no longer there. Her chances of waking up are already vanishingly small. I looked at Aries. He stared at me with sadness in his eyes before caressing my hair softly. He gave me a sad smile and kissed t

Chapter Twenty-Six

The funeral home asked me to select a dress for Niah. Nothing is more agonizing than selecting a dress for one's sister to wear for her funeral. My heart shattered the moment the doctor declared her dead. My sister took a piece of me with her when she died. What bothers me is that I only recently realized she doesn't have any outerwear. Almost all of her outdoor clothing dates back to when she was nine years old. She had been in the hospital since she was diagnosed with cancer. So if she wasn't in a hospital gown, she was in pajamas. I needed to get her a dress. Caleb and I are currently shopping for clothes in a boutique inside the mall. Aries and his friends were waiting outside on a bench opposite the boutique. Caleb was preoccupied with the clothes. While looking at the white clothes, I can see his pain and sadness. My eyes were still swollen, but I insisted on accompa

Chapter Twenty-Seven

"What have you been up to?" When I walked into the chapel, Aries was concerned. He appeared worried, but not because I was lost. I can sense it. He was simply checking to make sure I didn't go to the garden. However, he was unlucky. I went to the garden and looked around. She's back, isn't she? What is he going to do? Will he terminate the contract? Will he take the child away from me? Unknown fear began to infiltrate my being... If he ever did that to me, I would despise him. "Answer me, Nola? Where have you been? Did you see anything?" He asked a series of questions, and I confirmed it there. He wasn't just concerned about me; he was also concerned about what I might see outside. Although my mind was in disarray, I maintained a calm demeanor. "No, I just went for a walk there," I said, pointing to the opposite side of the chapel. The garden's opposite side. I could hear him sigh with relief.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

He drew me into his room as I was about to enter the guest room. "You can't stay in my room, Angel," he said to me as he dragged me inside. He slammed the door shut, not allowing her to say anything. Then he turned to face me. I turned away from him and went to bed. I ignored him, but he simply sighed and walked to his table near the window, where he began typing. I sighed and fell asleep. I was simply exhausted after being entertained by ninja turtles. From now on, I'll refer to Keegan, Ynigo, Gio, and Link as Ninja Turtles. I was surprised to see five of them at the dinner table the next day. "Oh, don't you have houses?" I wondered aloud. There was a heaviness in the air that pervaded the entire dining room. When we heard a voice, they all grunted. It was so piercing that even I frowned. Who's that? A woman in a nightgown walked in. I remember

Chapter Twenty-Nine

"Rosa, has Aries called yet?" I wondered out loud when I awoke. The maid simply shook her head and began preparing food for me. I have no appetite because I just feel sick. My head is slightly spinning so I closed my eyes for a while. "Ma'am, are you okay?" she inquired as he placed the glass of milk on the table. I just nodded and closed my eyes. Before entering the kitchen, I heard her sigh. I closed my eyes as I heard Gio's footsteps behind me. "Good morning, Gov," I said as I closed my eyes. "Are you okay?" The familiar baritone voice jolted me awake. It wasn't Gio! It was Aries! I sat up and began eating. I moved a little when I noticed him sitting next to me. Gio's footsteps entered the kitchen. "Good morning, Mrs. Higgins," he said. He was taken aback to see Aries standing next to me. "Are you also here, Mr. Higgins? I thoug
