Jai sat under a very shrouded tree. The sound of wind blowing and the shade the tree provided mad Jai more relaxed. His dark blue orbs that were once focused at the leaves on the tree now distracted to the boy who was crying to his grandfather.“Come on grandpa, let’s go home. Mother will be more than happy to know I caught this fish!” said the little boy. He raised a bucket made from bamboo that was filled with a single fish that was seemed as small as him.The old man beside him chuckled. “Careful, sonny. You’ll trip over your own feet,” the old man said. he was bringing a net that was filled with fishes over his shoulder. 292 - Mingling

“It’s so nice to finally meet you again, Jai,” the princess said. Her voice was soft and had a hint of honey. They had excused themselves from the identical young women who were now talking with Raka, and they chose the far end table near the rows of flowers.Jai was getting the weird feeling off of him from locking eyes with the white haired man, but it didn’t hinder him from socializing with someone as high as a princess. He faked a cough as he raised his glass of iced tea. “As do I. I believe the last time we met face to face was when we were on the way to the closing ceremony of the competition.”The princess nodded. “Yes. I believe as such. And you’re still as simple and humble as ever.”Jai scratched his cheek nervously. “N-Not really… Am I?”The princess smiled. “Yes.”“Well… I’m just being who I am,” Jai said, smiling. The pr

293 - Twitch

The King brought Jai to the man in white robe. This man was secluding himself from the others, it seemed, because he had no guests talking around him nor he looked interested in mingling with the others. The man seemed content by just being there.“Master Ryuwen. Let me introduce you,” the King greeted the man. “This is Jai, the third winner of the competition. And Jai, this is Master Ryuwen. He is the Great Master Teacher of the center region of this continent. Though he preferred only by Master Teacher in public.”The man in white robe, Master Ryuwen, smiled at them with a simple smile. “Greetings,” a simple word for a greeting and Jai felt his heart skip a beat. Ryuwen’s voice was very masculine, low ranged and somewhat charming. The calmness of his voice sent Jai to have a flash of blank winter on top of a forest hill, cool and breezy. It sent him wondering whether this person has his students swarming around him ask

294 - Busy Guy

Jai couldn’t shake off the last words spoken by Ryuwen who told him to be careful. It’s been three days since that day but he was still thinking about it. It was just simple words that meant well for him. It meant looking out for one another and was good. However, he felt that there was something else in his tone that Jai couldn’t put his finger on. He wondered whether he felt that way because Ryuwen was a stranger, but the others were also stranger to him before yet he didn't feel very curious about them. He put the cleaned milk containers in front of the barn door and looked around to see if there’s anything else he could work on. The cows were already eating the hay prepared for them. The chickens were pecking around near the field, eating the corn kernels strewn about by Farmer Mac. The farmer himself was happily singing near the field while watering the crops, close to the chickens. The sight made him smile. This world might be full o

295 - In need of chemist

Jai arrived in front of Doctor Prime’s office, or clinic, as it actually called, around eleven in the morning. He was greeted by the housewives that were hanging around together at the small kiosk in the alley, making him blush before he rigidly entered the clinic. There were a few patients in the lobby, three people. But Elena assured him that they’re there for check-up, so it wouldn’t take a long time. Though Jai still had to wait for one and a half hour for all of them to go, and Elena paused the following queue because it’s lunch time. The newly two clients that came after him either had to leave and come back in one hour or wait by the lobby. They chose to come back later.Elena left to buy them lunch and he was left with Doctor Prime in the break room. It was the door before the room where the doctor works on his patients, and inside, there was a small kitchen, couches, a stairs to the second floor that served as the doctor’s living quarter

296 - Bewilderment

When he departed to Heruba by lizard mount, he wasn’t expecting anything more than a middle aged woman agreeing with him to come with him. But what he got was the opposite of that and even a straightforward refusal to the face.He should’ve really asked Doctor Prime about the physician’s personality before leaving, because then, he might have a chance to think of how to approach the woman or at least, be prepared for any of her personality that he would soon encounter. He arrived in Heruba with positive energy and positive reaction from the villagers. Heruba was actually a very nice village. It was full of green, had fields with many varieties of herbs and cabbage looking plants, and houses with small farms around them. Each house in Heruba, when he observed, had at least two or three kinds of crops growing in front of or the side of the house. The crops were either tomatoes, corns, strawberries, or grapes. In essence, they were small plants that coul

297 - Show me

Jai looked at the physician’s dark brown eyes and thought his words carefully. He tried to be calm. “Look. My friend is in trouble. She’s inflicted with the Ice Fairy Disease.”The second he mentioned about the disease, the physician’s face turned sour. She frowned and her eyes casted down, as if trying to remember that familiar name. But she didn’t actually need to remember it, because she knew perfectly well what kind of disease that is. She just didn’t believe that she’s hearing someone having it again after almost a decade not hearing anything about it.Jai noticed the slight change in her expression and he continued. “If she doesn’t get her cure soon, I don’t know what will happen.”Yusa turned her attention to him again. “I told you. People die. You just have to deal with it.”“But you’re a physician, another name for a doctor. You can’t expect me o

298 - Man Eater

Jai stared at the clear river water gradually turning into murky water ahead of him. His eyes narrowed as he could see silhouettes of many kinds lurking around under the shades of the trees. Imaginatively, he could see yellow exclamation points floating around his head at the probability of going inside the woods, warning him from going there. But in actuality, he knew he had to go there.“So… What was the monster’s name again?” Jai asked. The physician stopped behind him. Crossing her arms on her breast, she said. “Man Eater.”“And what does it look like?” Jai asked again. The physician glanced at him. “Never seen a man eater before?”“You should be able to conclude the answer based from my question alone,” Jai answered without looking back at her. From his tone alone, it was flat enough that it was passable as being sarcastic. It didn’t nerve the physician at all thoug

299 - Instantly

Jai ran, splashing on puddles and passing through bushes and trees. He didn’t have time to see how much mud he had gotten on his soles or how dirty his clothes had become, nor did he care for any of that at the moment. The only thing he was thinking right now was remembering the route he had just taken, so that he could lure these creatures out of the forest. He looked back to the man eaters chasing him, finding them not running as fast as he had thought. It made him stop to turn his body fully at their direction, waiting for them to catch up at him. But then the one in the front stopped and shot its many many tentacles to the front, jutting it out instantly towards Jai. The action was so sudden and fast that Jai didn’t have the time to react. But fortunately, the tentacles missed him and planted themselves to the tree next to him. it surprised him so much that he looked next to him with wide eyes. The tentacles bit into the tree and stayed still for a few

But only three of them," Jai said apologetically. His answer surprised both the elder woman and Tia. "You beat three Man Eaters? Aren't they dangerous?"Jai shook his head lightly. "No," before he drank his juice.Grandma Ranna and Tia both looked at each other. Their faces both showed surprise and doubts. The elderly turned to the physician. "Yusa, how are you two able to beat three Man Eaters so fast?"Physician Yusa who was being silent since the moment they arrived, finally looked up to them. "He beat them on his own."This brought full surprise to the two yet again. They looked toward
