221 - Miria meets Darisha (2)

Usha looked at his female human and was a bit confused by how red she had become. She was only kissed by another female human after all. He kissed her many times on her hands and both her cheeks, but she didn’t respond like that. He narrowed his eyes as he could feel a small spark of jealousy coming from deep inside him. The minutes passed by with Barun and Miria talking to each other about Darisha, while Usha focused his attention towards the kitchen where the fat human, the twin boys, and the female human were currently cooking something. Delicious aroma permeated the air and Usha couldn’t help but feel his mouth watery from the smell. He didn’t eat human food that often, but human food tastes delicious to his tongue. Just, they’re probably too… Something they call salty, and sweet, but at least Usha could stand leftover fried potato sticks back then. Ten to fifteen minutes later, their order was ready and Da

222 - Consultants (1)

Their time in Darrion’s house was fun. Darisha seemed to like Miria a lot and wasn’t hiding it at all. The woman even told them that how she would love to take Miria out on a walk together, just the two of them. Miria was delighted, but she had to refuse because she got tired easily and their walk would be ruin.Darisha told her that it would be just fine since it’s just a walk, so there’s no rush. Miria was still uncomfortable with the thought, but her face showed that she would want that too.  Darrion had to leave because he had work to do, but he promised Jai he would tell Carrola and then inform Jai. The three villagers of Letush stayed for lunch at Darisha’s house before then leaving. Darisha made the two men promise to bring Miria for a visit every week, and as usual, she never accepted a no. Also, since they were stuck with Darisha until almost three PM, they had to cancel their shopping plan which no one regrette

223 - Consultants (2)

He made his way south from Atla Square. The second person he’s consulting this time was Doctor Tate, a vein doctor. Jai asked Carrola what a vein doctor is and the scholar told him that the doctor deals with the muscles in the head. Jai guessed he must be some kind of neurologist because it involved people’s head and neurons are similar to vein. That made Jai wondered if the term nerve system had been found here. Jai adjusted his scarf to cover his head like a veil before crossing the East Main Road and walked to the southeastern part of the kingdom. He remembered this was near the Southern Market where they went to in the second race. He checked again the address on the paper and it said that the doctor’s place is near the market. Since Jai wasn’t familiar with the kingdom yet, he knew he’s vulnerable and more prone to get lost, so he asked some people on the way that didn’t look like hooligans or anything similar. Some house

224 - Doctor Prime

Because the sun was still high in the sky, Jai chose to visit Doctor Prime right away. But since his grumbling stomach asked for food, he considered buying snacks in the market to eat on the way. He decided to go to the food stand he came to before. He considered that as an exchange for the direction the owner had given him.“Here you go, sonny!” the owner said after handing Jai the meat bread and fried potato he ordered.“Thank you, sir,” Jai replied, receiving the food. The meat bread was wrapped in a brown paper and was warm, while the fried potato was put in a container made from a thicker paper. The meat bread was almost similar to a burger, but the meat inside was cooked with spices and seasonings that made it smell so good, and the bread was softer. Jai’s mouth became watery by how good the meat bread smelled like, and he decided to just eat the foods right then and there. When he was done, he bought a drink for take away and

225 - Asking permission

Jai had this small light of hope in his heart when he left Doctor Prime’s office. The way the doctor told him about how he’s going to examine Miria first somehow indicates that this doctor is serious about his job. To him, being a doctor means saving life of others, and how they treat those lives who need their help determines how serious they are in the expertise. Of course, there are also wicked doctors like in the movies or real life experiences, and that also concerned Jai for a moment. Like, what if this is a scam? Or what if this doctor turned out to be a psychopath and Jai indirectly helping him get his next victim? But Jai erased those thoughts aside. From their interaction today, Jai assumed that Doctor Prime is legit. ‘But the real question is, how can I coax Miria to have another checkup with a different doctor?’ Jai thought as he jogged around the village. He had woken up early, right

226 - Checkup Again

Miria hugged Usha as they entered the kingdom, with Jai right beside her. Barun was in front with Rugard and Wen, pulling the wagon filled with goods. They separated almost immediately because the warehouse and Doctor Prime’s office are in opposite sections of the kingdom. Miria waved her hand to her grandfather before she went with Jai. Barun waved back at her and saw her off before going back to Rugard and Wen to submit their goods for the day. He had no qualms that Miria is going with Jai. The first time they went together, Jai almost killed someone because they were harassing his precious granddaughter. Knowing that Miria’s safe in good hands, he could avert his attention to their shipment. ‘I hope that doctor can tell something is going on with Miria. Hm… I know I shouldn’t be getting my hopes up, but, just it will be okay for just a little bit, right…?’ –was what inside the old man&rsqu

227 - Ice Fairy Disease

“Why don’t we take a back trip first, alright? Let’s remember back to when you were young, Miria. You were suffering from cold and your grandfather gave you a medicine made from Glaucus flower, which is commonly used to treat cold. Isn’t that right?” Doctor Prime asked. Miria nodded. “Yes.” “And then you started having these strange symptoms after you consumed the medicine. You started feeling cold all of a sudden, mild headache, tired easily…” the doctor mentioned. Miria seemed to realize as something seemed to dawn on her. “Could it be the medicine…” Doctor Prime smiled solemnly, tilting his head a bit. “Not the medicine, but the ingredients to make it.” Jai widened his eyes a bit. “The flower.” Doctor Prime smiled and nodded. “The Glaucus flower. 228 – Grandfather’s Consent

Jai and Miria had lunch at the small kiosk and then spent their time after buying groceries in the South Market before going straight home. On their way home, Jai was quite a bit distracted by how he could convince Barun to give his consent. Well, the old man was cooperative about the checkup, but Jai wouldn’t be as sure with the expensive treatment. And unfortunately, since Jai didn’t manage to fish the price from the doctor, he also wouldn’t have the answer should Barun asked him about it later. ‘This is actually a bit shady, but if this is passed, there might be no other chances… Maybe I should ask Darrion for help, digging information about this doctor to see if he’s true…’ Jai thought as he walked, ignoring a small kitten jumping up to his shoulder and up his head. Usha had to scratch him a bit on the head before they entered the forest, just to get his attention straight. This was the k

229 - He’s Legit

The next day, Jai departed early because he wanted to give Darrion a visit and also ask for a favor, yet, again. He felt that this blonde would get over him by that point, but he hoped not, because he would really need his help on this one. “JAIII!! Oh man! I missed you!” Darrion exclaimed excitedly before hugging him right there in front of his house. ‘So he’s not over me yet,’ Jai thought, patting the blonde on the back while chuckling. “It’s always nice meeting you, Darrion.” “Aww~ You don’t miss me?” Darrion faked a pout. Jai chuckled and hummed. “Hmm, naah, I’ll say no just to tick you.” “You dog,” Darrion grinned. “You’re so early, what makes you come here at this hour? I was just about to leave for work.” Jai grimaced a bit. “Oh sorry

230 – Just a warm up

So… Apparently, Jai’s fame had not died down even after two weeks. When Jai entered the Windlet’s Headquarters, it wasn’t very noisy at first. Well it was, of course, filled with the noisiness of workplace where people were shouting at each other in encouraging ways or maybe some discussions that could not be solved by simply whispering around… To put it simply, the place was actually lively. But the place became livelier when the receptionist girl unconsciously shouted his name after Darrion took him to accept the billboard request. Then, it became quite of a swarm.A howl permeated the air under the scorching hot sun. Somewhere in the east plains, there was a showdown between Moonwolves and a certain black haired guy. Aside from the sound of howl and breezing wind, the sharp chirps of thunder also joined in the fight. Screams of agony from wolves being beaten and stomped by lightning strikes soon echoed, replacing the howl they did in
