Chapter 30. Richard's Past.

We had to leave at once, so we had to stop at the hotel once more so we could get all our belongings before we left. I was bothered and worried about Richard and his behavior, he just seemed so distant and difficult to approach. He did try his best so I wouldn't notice by smiling everytime our eyes met, but that wasn't enough to convince me that he was okay. "I'll go out in the car." Although that was an excuse to get away from me for a while, I could tell he needed some breathing space.        I got ready, and sat on the bed for a while, thinking of how I could approach him, but for that I would at least need to know what was going on with him right? But how could I have an answer to that when he's so distant with me, it's more like he doesn't want me to know. Knock Knock!

Chapter 31. One More Chance.

Jake's point of view]I was surprised when my doors burst open and Richard rushed into my house with his wife in his hand. Mira was unconscious, and Richard looked like he had seen a ghost, his eyes were wide open as he carried her, begging for help from my brother and I who he had distanced himself from.        He told me that she had fallen asleep on their way back, and he was also asleep, unfortunately by the time they arrived she was still asleep, he had thought that she was asleep but that wasn't it. It's been a full day now and she still hasn't woken up. "Please help us." He begged with her in his arms.        I didn't know what to do, and there was nothing I could do. I remembered Mal's words, and knew that her delivery

Chapter 32. The Eyes Says It All.

I know it's nothing but a pair of eyes from a painting but the true meaning behind this painting freaks everyone out, she didn't need to know why it meant, cause if she didn't she'd be horrified. Jack looks at me and I at him, I shake my head, telling him not to say a word about it, he nods. "That my dear is the eyes of Lord Ego." Jack tells her. Regardless of the fact that he sounded like it was no big deal just now, I could sense how Jack trembled from his voice and how he just hesitated. He was staring at the painting with such intense fear, trying hard to maintain his composure.         "Well, it looks beautiful, I love the painting, why didn't they paint the rest of him?" She asked. She had no idea she was killing us from the inside, no one had the guts to look at this painting, not even our mother. It's been this way ever since he stepped into the

Chapter 33. Your Past is A burden.

I felt blank, at a total loss of words, Mal didn’t look like he was kidding, his eyes were dripping out black blood and I know what it means. He always had dark blood dripping down his eyes whenever he saw something horrifying. Mal was born a pure vampire unlike my brother and he was blessed with extraordinary abilities, one that made my brother and myself unqualified to ever call ourselves a king. “Mal, listen to me. Calm down okay, just tell me what you saw.” I try to reason with him, it’s useless trying to get anything off him when he’s in such a state. “Breathe.” I told him. “Now, tell me what you saw.”       “The curse had already begun the moment she conceived, that thing in him is killing her. If it’s born then you have my word when I say even you shall fear him. This house shall be divided

Chapter 34. Betrayal.

Good gracious. It's been a month and a half since that day, Jack and I have been anxiously waiting for Richard to summon us. It wasn't until last night that he finally called, we were just about to board a plane when my phone rang, well of course we abandoned our flight. Mira wanted us to keep her company, and so we journeyed back here. I stopped after seeing her wave from her window. Hmm, it seems Mal helped heal her, of course, after watching her for that long he couldn't possibly let her be crippled. I could also see Richard through the window and believe me, he does not look happy even if he was the one who called us.She was in the kitchen and staring at us with a bowl in one hand and a spoon in another. She looked like she was trying to stay calm, but honestly, I couldn't say the same, especially s

Chapter 35. A new side to Mal.

There she was on the bed, looking worse than before. Her breathing was slow and even her heartbeat made me worried. All I could see was a dried up body and not the woman I met outside a hotel months ago. Once every thirty seconds, she would cough a very dried cough. She looked so pale that we had to order for oxygen and invited as many midwives, nurses and doctors, sharmans, witch doctors and all those who all had contacts with vampires. Richard had refused to leave her side, he's been with her all day. Malicay said it's because the time was slowly approaching. Humans are really weak, to think she would suffer so much from just conceiving a Vampire, I felt like beating up Richard for being responsible but everyone was anticipating the birth of this child, even I can't deny it's importance. Richard hasn't moved an inch, and believe me when I say he looks depressed.

Chapter 36. A Split Personality?

In a split second, the castle and everyone in it was turned upside down. The preparation for her delivery was carried out, people rushing with bowls of warm water, carrying a towel, setting up equipment and checking her pulse. No one stood or was an idol. Malicay left the room while I tailed behind, however the presence emitting from Malicay was not the same. As Malicay made his way to an abandoned room, he gripped his chest in pain and leaned on the wall to get support. "Mal." I rushed up to him and let him lean on me for support, but he slapped my hand away and continued on his own.         Everytime he came across one person or the other he would give orders on what should be done. "Place black candles all around her bed, close the curtains, let no sunshine penetrate no matter what." He said.

Chapter 37. Dark Soul.

Of course everyone panicked immediately. Martha stood by Mira's side with the child in her arms, she was frightened as Richard yelled continuously at her to get rid of his child. What happened to the confidence he had just a while ago, and what happened. "This child is innocent." Martha explained, but Richard wasn't listening, he was holding on to his wife as if protecting her from something.         Everyone came rushing in, "What happened?" I asked. When I saw Mira lying still, I feared that something had happened to her, but then my thinking quickly changed when I saw Mother Resse rubbing her temples in frustration. I walked over to ask if anything had gone wrong and all she did was sigh.       “Why don’t you ask him yourself, he’s the one who&

Chapter 38. Depressed.

Mira's POV It's been two weeks since I had my son Ethan, and I can only say that my son and I aren't really what anyone could call mother and child. It hurts and frustrates me, knowing that the more I try, the more useless my efforts become.  "Why, why wouldn't he stop crying. Am his mother aren't I?" Tonight, I had broken down in Ethan's room. I had woken up in the middle of the night after hearing my child cry, he hardly cries cause he's a tough child, but it seems like something must have disturbed him, so dressed in my nightgown I went to his room. There, I found Martha trying to put him to sleep, but Ethan was far from sleeping. "Give him here, I'll carry him." I told her, I wanted to carry him myself. It was the first time I was going to hold him since his birth. For some reason

Chapter 39. Rejection.

"Jesty….""...majesty….""You majesty….. Mother!!!" "Hmm." Once again I had been lost in my thoughts and memories of the past, that I had almost forgotten that I was helping Ethan with his tasks. Honestly, I tried my possibls best to keep that promise and Richard also did his best but unfortunately things got a bit out of hand and so we tried our best to raise him better, but not in a normal way but through another strategy. Richard had bought a lifetime supply of books that should help Ethan with good leadership and build up his morals and thinking. Ethan who was just a baby a couple of years ago had now grown into a mature seven year old. However our distance was the same as ever. A child that hesitates to call his own bir
