Chapter 40

Zara Nigeria.. We were finally back to the country after a really long trip and rounds and rounds of love making. I went to Greece a girlfriend, and now I was engaged. My happiness knew no bounds. I was more than ecstatic about this. I was still on cloud nine and I wasn't going to come down for a very long long time. Maybe even until the wedding. The way I was being treated by Aminu, I only prayed for my friends and every other woman to find love like this because it was beautiful. I really really missed him like no man's business. He was with me earlier but had to go and meet a week's worth of work that he couldn't delegate to his psycho brother claiming it was too confidential for him to do that. I reminisced on the events that happened in Greece when my room door creaked open and brought in Tanna my best friend who I hadn't seen since Aminu had to put them on another of his jets so they could come

Chapter 41

Zara Today was the launch of Amira group. Aminu's chain of companies that included an airline, a shipping arm, a tank farm and oil distribution wing and a security firm. Aminu surprisingly also opened a beach resort last minute. The company was already making waves and getting clients even before it was launched. I knew we hit a jackpot with this one. I was currently doing my hair and makeup in my very big walk in closet. Aminu has a glam team set up for me for some reason. He ordered hair, makeup and the best stylist in Lagos who's name was Jerry, to dress me up. It was all a little overwhelming for me because I never had this kind of treatment before even for our engagement, but this was a big day so I really wanted to soak it all in. This was probably going to be how my life would work from now on. I looked heavenly when they were done with me, like something from a Hollywood movie. Jerry dressed me in a sheer green l

Chapter 42

Zara Louis gave a hearty introduction of Aminu to which Aminu came up on stage and gave him a hand shake per formalities. I knew he wanted to hug Louis for that very mushy introduction. Aminu stood at the podium and I knew he was already searching for me by the way his eyes were moving around. When his eyes finally landed on me, his chest visibly came down and he started. "Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for being here today to witness the unveiling of Amira Group of Companies." He said and got an applause in response. I wanted to scream for him but I read my environment quite well and saw that it wasn't necessary. He continued after the applause died down "This is a company that is very dear to my heart, I spent the last few years working on putting it together and I'm just glad that it's finally here." Another applause. The speech went on for another three to four minutes and I couldn't help but no

Chapter 43

Zara I felt horrible as I exited the door to the chalet and almost didn't notice Patrick leaning on the wall with his back like the creepy person that he was. I stopped abruptly because he was partially blocking my way. "Wow Zara, you look beautiful." He said when I opened my mouth to tell him to excuse me. I rolled my eyes. I wasn't in the mood for his mind games. "Would you just let me pass?" I said. "Oh I will dear I will. How are you enjoying your evening though?" He said smirking devilishly. "Don't fucking patronize me Patrick. I know what you did and soon, everyone will know it too" I said. This was the first time I was threatening someone, but if I was right about Patrick then he deserved it because he was a horrible person. "Wow, she swears" he said feigning surprise. I glared so hard a him and I was doing everything in my power not to swipe my hand a

Chapter 44

ZaraI was in utter pain as my heart pounded painfully in my chest at the sight in front of me. So this was the reason why Aminu sent me away. It hurt so much to even look at his head on Jasmine's shoulder and Jasmine caressing his head. Only God knew what had gone on before I walked in here. They still hadn't noticed my presence until I sniffed as tears rolled down my cheeks. Aminu's head whipped up and when he saw me, he pushed Jasmine away. Jasmine who was wearing a smug look on her face.Aminu betrayed me. This was what Lanre didn't want me to see."Zara.." Aminu said standing up. I closed my eyes, trying not to scream.I immediately walked out of the room to avoid doing anything that would involve throwing a fit or tantrum. I promised myself that I would never fight over a man. And even as much as I loved Aminu, if he chose to be disloyal to me then there was no point.I could hear Aminu chase after me, eventually blocking

Chapter 44 contd.

This was a day that I looked forward to. Taking a big step with my partner and love and launching this amazing venture only for it to end in disaster and tears. Sad was an understatement. "Are you going to talk about it now or you're not up to it?" Louis said while he drove us home as he didn't like having a driver. I kept mute not because I was ignoring him but because I couldn't talk at all. I couldn't bring myself to without bawling my eyes out again so I just sat in that passenger's seat trying to think about anything but Aminu until I fell into a deep slumber. ** I woke up in bed in my night wear with Tanna laying by my side. I noticed that my hair was out and my makeup also cleaned. Tanna probably did all that for me. She was such a wonderful friend. I looked at the time. It was just a little after 7am on Saturday. Immediately I moved, Tanna woke up as well. "Hey, Zara are you okay" she asked a

Chapter 45

Zara It  had been two weeks since I had contact with anyone other than my cousin Louis and my best friend Tanna. Aminu had tried getting in contact with me and so did Lanre and Tayo but I resolved to blocking them all for the moment. I hated what I was doing but I wasn't ready to face anyone yet. Today was the first day in two weeks that I was going in to work. I had been working from home so as to not piss the board and my aunt, but I just didn't want any human contact. Up until this moment I still felt very horrible about what happened at the launch. Aminu had come to my house multiple times each day to see if I would talk to him, even Tanna begged me to see him but I refused. I wasn't ready to listen to him without screaming at him. I sat at my table in the office looking affectionately at the ring on my finger. I still hadn't taken it off. I couldn't bring myself to do

Chapter 46

Aminu I was devastated. I could barely sleep or eat knowing that my fiancée wasn't speaking to me. I hadn't seen or spoken to her in two weeks and Louis was not helping matters at all. He never allowed me close to her, talking about 'you weren't loyal to her'. I knew very well that it looked bad, what I did. But I had an explanation that apparently nobody wanted to hear. I took a large gulp of the whiskey in my glass and poured myself another one, taking a large drag off the cigar in between my fingers. This was what I had resorted to in order to ease the pain of my love being far away from me. I looked fondly at the bracelet on my wrist which had her name on it. I bled in my heart about this scenario we were in at the moment. I had lost count of the many bouquets I had sent to her house and office everyday for the past two weeks with no response back.

Chapter 47

Aminu "Here, got this for you" I said giving my lover the gift I bought for her. She reluctantly took it, looking at me skeptically. "I hope you didn't go spending millions on this, I'll just cry." She said and I laughed."No no. Just open it baby" I said smiling at her. She opened the long and slim box to reveal a silver necklace with a sapphire pendant. Her jaw dropped. "Aww this is so pretty" she said gushing over it. I knew she would think it was expensive. It actually wasn't, well not by my own standards anyway. "Babe. These look like diamonds" she said giving me a look while inspecting the chain. "Yeah.. um they are actually. The blue sapphire in the middle is your birthstone." I said trying to spare myself the lecture that was coming. She had told me before to tone down the expensive gifts for now when she foun

Chapter 48

Zara It was the weekend and Aminu and I decided to spend it together in his house. Especially since I would soon be living with him as his wife, it would be good to get to know the house and get acquainted with it. I was currently in the kitchen whipping up an Igbo delicacy for him. I was making Ugba (shredded oil bean) with goat meat and Palm wine for him. I had gotten the palm wine from a vendor here in Lagos who had so many good reviews. This was the very first time I was cooking for him so I wanted it to be sumptuous. I was already in the final stages of preparing the meal when i felt a set of powerful arms wrap around my waist. "Mmm. That smells lovely baby." He said and kissed my neck. "Thank you. Wait until you taste it." I said, trying to ignore the things that Aminu's touch and kisses were doing to my body. He bit my ear and whispered "what if I want
