CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN - I CAN'T BEAR ANOTHER LOSS

DIANE I ran. I didn't think.  I just ran. It reminded me so much of that night, how i ran and the immense guilt that washed over me. My hands trembled and there was this deafening impaling noise that pierced my ear immediately i heard the first gunshot. Yet, somehow with the numbness in my feet and my blood soaked dress, i just ran. "Help" I whimpered as i staggered through people that dodged away from me. "Help-" Were my words as my vision hazed. And for a moment, i halted. **** My ears opened to the steady beeping of the heart monitor and the drops of liquid that slowly flowed through the intravenous.  But first, it caught the whispers of people nearby and as my vision cleared completely, i noticed the poli

CHAPTER FIFTY EIGHT - WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD, SCRATCH THAT!

WUI hummed to what a wonderful world by reuben and the dark while i reached for the soap i had kept on the ground.  I paused for a second as i patted my hands slowly on the grounds, in search of a soap i was damn sure I had kept there before the curtains to the stall opened, leaving me to shyly cover the parts of me that still had dignity while i battled to see through the lather in my eyes and I scoffed to find- "Ratchet" I gnashed my teeth as i slipped, in an attempt to hold unto her.  And there i was, on the ground, lucky enough that my towel fell right on me.  "Shit" I groaned in pain as i brought my shoulder to click back into place.  **** "She just wouldn't leave me the fuck alone" I reported to the warden the following day.  He let out a shrill, more of a mocking laughter before he

CHAPTER FIFTY NINE - LOVE, FRIENDSHIP AND MURDER.

WU"Did Deborah just walk into storage with the guard?" I whispered, trying to keep up the pace with Rebekah.  "It's hard to keep up with relationships around here" She replied dryly as she pushed the door open.  "How do they do it? A guard and an inma- Honestly, i don't want to know" I said, raising my hands in the air before she suddenly halted.  On seeing the powdery mess scattered around the shelves, she screamed as blood rushed to her face.  "What the fuck?" She whispered as she peeked around the library before moving to lock the door.  "Who would do this? Fuck" She exclaimed as she quickly moved around some books before grabbing the broom in the corner of the room.  "No one fucking knows where we dump our stack" She yelled to herself before she suddenly turned to me.  "I mea

CHAPTER SIXTY - A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS.

MARIA "It's Marc. Leave a message" I hung up, burying my face into the pillow before I sighed Gloria by the bed.  "Does he not pick unknown numbers?" She asked as she coughed into her arms.  "I guess he does, now the phone i pushed for is completely useless if he doesn't pick up" I replied.  "You're lucky you have someone up there" She said before she coughed again, this time clearing her throat.  "Are you okay?" I asked as she sniffles before turning away while she nodded.  "Well, she might not be really pleased to help me once she realizes one of us was an informant against her?" I said as Gloria shook her head.  "Was it you?" She asked as I dipped the phone in my bra as i sighted a patrolling guard.  "Hell no" I replied. "I hope she gets out of there"

CHAPTER SIXTY ONE - IF I FALL

MARIA DISCLAIMER:THIS MIGHT BE A MILDLY EMOTIONAL CHAPTER.~Its hard to find love,  In a world that offers so little,  But one that freely comes,  Is that in which a true mother gives to you.  **** "Mother" I yelled as i ran down the corridor before the guards gripped my wrinkled clothes.  There was crack in my voice as i succumbed to the tears that proceeded to fall down my cheeks.  "Mama" I struggled so weakly to withdraw before i fell to the ground. "She's gone-" I whispered.  "She's gone" Gloria added as she broke into tears.  But that isn't where we'll start off- It was one hell of a crazy day.  12 HOURS EARLIER THE PRESENT DAY

CHAPTER SIXTY TWO - WHERE THE WILD THINGS

JACQUELINEMy heels dug into the tiled ground as i crossed under the door, the deep buzz taking longer than an open door before i proceeded to drop my bags and keys and any of the things i had on me. And so did she. "I'm not sure this is going to be a good idea" She said, after we were let into the mildly flooded reception while we were faced with boldened fonts across the think concrete white washed wall. MIAMI CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES, MIAMI, FLORIDA. And just about then we sighted her across a further table, just beside one of the numbered guards that stood at each corner of the room. "Bad idea" She whispered again as we walked towards and all of a sudden, she stood. And as expected, the first name she called was- "Diane?" Wu called with doubt, rubbing her hands on the table nervously as she eyed me.

CHAPTER SIXTY THREE - THE LINGERING EERIE OF DEATH

JACQUELINE"What are you doing here?" Wu asked as she stood.  "You and I both know if you didn't want to see me, you wouldn't have come out" I said, walking over to the table she sat across. My eyes trailed the ticking clock, hoping i had time before the visiting hours are over. "I want you to meet someone" I said before Mason walked in from the corridor, his hands in his back pocket as he stopped at our table. "This is Mason Sullivan, Ruby's father" I introduced before she let out a shrill laugh that just burst out. But looking back to my straight expression, she raised her palms to her lips, a soft gasp escaping it.  "That means Albert-" She paused to assessed Mason as he sat, his expression nothing but calm.  "Did she know about this?" Wu asked as i shrugged my shoulders in reply, loosening my jac

CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR - THE PEOPLE CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE

WUSlow but steady droplets of water fell to the ground in a somewhat rhythmic fashion as i heaved a sigh.  The constant noise of heavy rain drops hitting the roof was already enough to disrupt my sleep but just as i thought of the worst that could happen -the roof began to leak in several strategic places. I muttered as i turned over to the other side before raising the blanket over my head and just as i finally decided to close my ears i felt a tap on my shoulders.  At first, i shrugged it off as nothing but my imagination till i felt it again, this time, pressing harder.  "Wu" I heard a low voice amidst the noise and i pulled down the blanket to see Susan by my bed.  "The roof's leaking on the top bunk" She said as she pushed me before bending to lie in my bed.  "Relax, this isn't going

CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE - THE TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE

MARIAI smoothered my jumpsuit but before walking down the corridor and into the visiting room. The once in a while we were given the chance to receive visitors, was presumably short and as i walked on, i sighted Gloria by the doorway. She had been a wreck for those first few days, but after she had her first hearing, it seemed it went almost as good enough as we hoped. And that was a reason i remained optimistic for mine, my master calendar hearing was drawn a week earlier as soon as i spoke to the lawyer that Marc hired. "How are you doing?" I placed my hand across her lower back before walking towards the table. "Maria" Marc's eyes gleamed in surprise as i sat across. "Marc" I called and a smirk formed on his lips. "Your boys, i think they're going to be fine. I've hired a very prominent lawyer that handles immi

CHAPTER SIXTY SIX - HAS THE JURY REACHED A VERDICT?

WU THE NIGHT OF THE MURDER Like every bad decision i ever made, it all started in a bar- The colors of street lights smeared from behind the blurring glass by the sides of the less eccentric bar closer to my house. I turned around, stealing glances each time i heard the ding sound of the opening door- It was as if i was reliving that night all over again, but this time, clearer. Soon, after looking at the fast paced clock and then at the text that displayed on my phone Wu: Can we talk? At the bar down the block- -i decided to leave, finally letting it sink that all of this was a not a good idea.  But then, she walked in with her hands in her black leather jacket and her eyes behind a darker shade of her usual glasses,  -probably because she
