XavierHe was almost near the mansion when his phone ringed. Stopping the car, he answered the call. A breathless voice informed, "Alpha, I am Drake Morris. Could you please come immediately near the edge of the forest, outside the campus. We are not very far from town. It is urgent". Balancing the phone between his shoulder and ear, he manoeuvred a turn, "I'll be there", and hung up.As he was driving his mind chalked up the worse reasons for the call. Drake had not given any specifics and that could either be that Erica was alright or she was not. He was keyed up through the entire journey which felt far too long, his foot pressing hard on the accelerator to diminish the distance. Instead, she offered, "Want to have some coffee?" Erica declined before trudging to her room. Even though she felt tired, she also felt a lot better, calmer. She burrowed her face further into the pillow her mind veering back to the time spent with Xavier. It felt good, to be sharing her thoughts and fears and theories with someone who believed you. It felt daunting at times and with the whirlwind of things that was happening to her she rarely had time to sit and process. Her cheeks reddened as she remembered how Xavier had reacted promptly when she was stricken with fear, how he had drawn her closer to him

EricaXavier must have felt her gaze because he turned his gaze towards her and murmured, "It's alright", and squeezed her hand lightly. She did not know why but she felt happy again with his reassurance. She heard the lady - Stella giggle softly. She glanced at her and blushed. "Let me show you to your table", she motioned them to follow her. The place was not very crowded yet they got a nice corner table right next to the window which overlooked the yard. Her gaze traced the view beyond the window, the yard also had a few tables and chairs, decorated beautifully. The trees beyond the yard wee hidden in shadows, in darkness. "The place is beautiful isn't it?" Xavier's voice made her look away, her gaze flickered to his face. He was smiling softly. She nodded then asked, "Just out of curiosity, doesn't animals...you know to attack the place? I mean isn't this place vulnerable to such thing?" This made her mate laugh. It wasn't a chuckle or a grin
