Chapter 2: Book of the Past

My dad passed out when I went back to the living room his pulse already stopped. I don’t know what to do with this ring and I don’t really know how to use this notebook.  

Suddenly, a shadow came out from no where and starts to form as human. No! it has black wings it must be a demon. 

The demon started to walk towards me. His eyes look terribly bad maybe he doesn’t have sleep for years? his eyes are blue like mine and his hair is black that suited his suit with blue and black combination. 

I started to ask him, “Uhhm? Who are you and what are you doing here?”

The demon replied with such a lazy tone, “My name is Vandross, a demon that's assigned to look after you here on Earth.”

I remembered something and started to think, why does he look familiar? 

The demon continued to speak, “You are a special demon. I can’t afford to send you to Zennery on that human form, so I’ve waited till you’re capable of living in our real world.”

I don’t know why and how but suddenly I felt angry and my body start to tremble in anger. I looked at him saying, “You! You’re the reason why my dad is dead now. You gave him a curse so that he will not be able to reject me.”

The demon just looked at me with his poker face while saying, “I’m not the one who killed him? You should be thankful. If I didn’t put a curse on him, do you think he will raise you knowing you’re a demon, and don’t put the blame on me you didn’t listen to him he asked you to calm down yet you’ve started to go rampage and kill him.

I felt guilty when I heard those words from him. He’s right if only I’d listen to him first. I faced the floor unable to look at him and asked.

“You’re right, but is there other way to revive him?” Vandross looked at me again and said, “Look for the page in the Relic where there is a human who is covered with blood” 

I look for the page just like what he told me to do, and find a page with a human covered with blood and a demon standing beside his body. 

Vandross told me to read the text loud and I started to chant, “Let the blood shed, and a path will open. Leave no trace and step to another world to live in, SACRIFICIAL PIT!” 

The moment I chant those words, a blue pit really opens from nowhere and it sucked Dad's dead body, I tried to stop him from being sucked into the pit but Vandross stopped me. 

I saw some evaporation in the air and all I knew, I was crying while my tears evaporates as it touches my skin.

“Why? Why him? It could be anyone?” 

The pit’s color changed from blue to violet

Vandross looked at me saying, “Demons should not feel bad to a dying human. They hunt our races down and killed so many of our allies.” 

“But...” I haven’t finish what I want to say when Vandross suddenly tossed me inside the Pit.

The whole place was covered with violet. I can’t see any other color aside from the light at the end of the pit. The moment I reached the end, the light flashed through my eyes and I started to cover my eyes.

I took my hands from my eyes and looked around. I was in the middle of the night in a forest. The trees don’t have leaves—it was all color gray, and I can hear some weird sounds and growls. Then suddenly a violet light flashed above my head and when I looked at it, a book suddenly came out and hit my head that knocked me down.

I gained consciousness and found my self at the back of Vandross who was carrying me across the dark forest. I saw a huge black and white mansion as we travel and soon arrived the said mansion.

I pretended to be sleeping and let Vandross carried me. 

Vandross knocked at the door and wait till a girl opened the door and asked, “Vandross? Is that really you?” 

Vandross coldly replied, “Yes and you are?”

I saw the girl pouted. “You’re still mean to me, of course it’s me, Minerva. I just glowed up from a nerdy one to this hot and sexy lady you are facing, right now.”

Miss Minerva looked at Vandross and I guess Vandross just gave her a cold look. She then suddenly noticed me and asked Vandross, “Who’s that child? Is he the one you we’re observing on Earth?” 

“What else is my duty on Earth? ”

“Still a moody guy as usual huh?” 

After they’re done chatting Minerva took us to an empty room with a bed in the side. He just dropped me at the bed—literally dropped—and it hurts a bit and he started to exercise his arms before going to sleep, too.

I woke up and found myself in a bed and beside me is Vandross sleeping. I looked at him and noticed my relic book in his clothes. Maybe I should try practicing this thing.

I turned the pages and looked for something interesting to do. 

“Vandross told me to chant the words written in the book just like what happened last night. I didn’t know it needed a sacrifice in order to be triggered? Guess, I could try things. I’ll just tell him I’m just a child and curious of everything.” 

I, then, randomly open a page and I saw a picture of a demon. His wings are widely flapped and his eyes were red and wait is this some kind of enchantment? Like what happened to me every time I get carried away by emotions?

Vandross woke up and looked at what I’m doing. I thought he would be angry so I gave him the relic book right away. 

But instead he said, “No go ahead it’s yours. I don’t have the right to take it.” As he said those words, he left the room.

Such a moody type of person. I wonder he’s been awake for 7 years just to watch over me. What’s so special about me? I mean I’m a half human? Wait a second, WHY THE HELL AM I HERE?

I ran towards the door but it’s locked. I wonder if Vandross locked it, then suddenly the door opens and a beautiful young girl showed up I think I already saw her.

“Woahh!”, I accidentally said what I’m thinking.

“Don’t woaah me. It’s time for breakfast you should come out, guess Vandross didn’t tell you huh? That lazy guy. Oh by the way I’m Minerva,” she reached out her hands and shake mine. 

I’m a little bit confused so I asked her. “Ahhm miss? Where am I?” 

“Oh I forgot to tell you you’re at the Dark Continent of Zennery Kingdom. 

I looked at her and asked, “Dark Continent? Zennery?”

I started to freak realizing I’m in another world right now. I was at the table with Miss Minerva and 6 other children I think their all demons because of the wings and some of them has horns. But the one who caught my attention is the guy with a black hair, pitch black eyes and wearing a black I guess it’s a school uniform, he’s at my side and he doesn’t have any wings or horn, maybe he’s just like me. 

I asked Miss Minerva for his name and she said he is Zyrel.

She whispered at my ears and said, “Zyrel is a moody guy the same as Vandross but he’s an obedient child.”

I’d started to talk to him and said, “Hey my name is Invel, glad to meet you ahhhm?”

“If you want my name just ask I don’t ask for your name”, he frankly said

He’s really a moody one just like what Miss Minerva said. 

“By the way I’m Zyrel even though I heard Miss Minerva told you my name”

“He heard our conversation? What kind of hearing ability he has?" 

Vandross started to talk and said, “Are we going to eat or not?” 

After we’re done eating Vandross looked at me as if he’s telling me to come with him. He really is a lazy type of guy huh.

We arrived in an open field at the back of the mansion. It’s so creepy in here. It’s like a cemetery without graves. 

Vandross instructed me to open the Book and find a picture of a fire rising from the grounds.

I searched for the picture he told me until I find it. He told me to stand in the middle of the `field and chant the words in the book. I started chanting, “Let the scorching hell rise and burn everything above. Turn everything to dust... Hell Fire Eruption” 

I saw the flames started to rise from the ground it burned everything around it. Is this my power as a demon or is this the power of the Relic Book: Demonic Relic?

“I see”, a low voice whispered in my ears. It was Vandross

”So this what caused the incident” , he said

I was confused on what he had said, “What incident?” 

“That day the hospital got burned up. The day your mother died and your human father picked you. The reason the fire can’t be extinguished is because this Relic was used.” 

“You mean that I used this?” 

He closed his eyes before looking at me, “Of course not. I believe someone used this and left it there. I don’t really know but all I know is the fire is the same as the flames that just come up when you cast the spell.”

“Why is this book called a relic?”

Miss Minerva showed up and told Vandross that there is an emergency at Baldor so Vandross left and jumped from tree to tree. 

“I wonder why is he jumping? He has wings though?” 

Then suddenly Minerva spoke up, “I saw those flames you cast from the Relic book. At such a young age, you manage to cast an intermediate spell without passing out.”

“Ahh I don’t really know why, but I think I’m just gifted?”

Miss Minerva assist me to go back to prepare for a bath. While walking she told me, “I heard you ask Vandross why your book is called relic right? 

“Your book is possessed by our Ancestors and passed by or sometimes stolen. Relics in Zennery are not just books. There are many kinds of Relics. The Battle Relics which consist of swords, armor and shield. The Enchantment Relics the same as your book where spells are written and the Special Relics this was said to be unknown. I wonder were you get that notebook.”

“I really don’t know but all I know is that this notebook was with me the moment I was born.” 

Miss Minerva was still curious about me and asked what is the name of the book. and I told her it was “Demonic Relic” the moment I told her the name of the book she was shocked and looked at me saying, 

“D-Demonic Relic? That is the Relic possessed by the past Demon Lord, the Demon Lord Shaitan.”
