Her parents might have made the biggest mistake ever.

How could they have anything to do with such a dangerous man?

Did they even know who he was? His background and the kind of man he is?

Jade quietly sat at the back seat of the Mercedes with Xavier right beside her, busy with his laptop again.

She was trying to process everything and gladly he didn't try to intrude.

The drive was slow and quiet. She identified some places but seemed lost when the driver took an unfamiliar route.

It was deserted but didn't look dangerous or suspicious. Surely he isn't taking her to a dungeon to torture her.

After a long drive, the car finally came to a stop.

Jade quickly sat up and her door opened.

Xavier had his hand stretched out for her but she rolled her eyes and moved to the other door.

Her jaws dropped when she got down from the car and it rolled away.

Her house is nothing compared to this.

It looked like heaven.

Too big for just one man.

He had security and servants everywhere. Like a hotel.

Beautiful white roses decorated the grass.

Palm trees stood here and there.

The walls were white but mostly had glass.

The doors were large and she could only imagine the kind of lavish lifestyle he lives.

Is he royalty or something?

She looked around and turned to him.

"This is your house?" She asked and he lightly nodded. Jade stared at him for a while. "What exactly do you do?"

"We are not married and you're already playing wife" He walked to her. "I'll show you around" He grabbed her hand and took her along with him.

After a brief detour around the house, Xavier stopped at a door.

"This is your room" He briefly said.

She felt happy and relieved because she wasn't gonna share a room with him.

Jade pushed the doors open and smiled.

This is exactly her dream room.

It had everything she wanted and it was very big too!

Maybe this won't be bad after all.

Two men in suits approached them.

"Watch her" He simply said and walked away.

Jade frowned and turned to the men.

"Watch me!? I won't go anywhere so there is no need for all these!" She took a step to go after him but the men stood in her path.

"Oh no! This isn't happening! Xavier!" She angrily called. "You asshole!" She walked back into her room and slammed the door.

Jade threw herself on the bed but jumped at the knock on the door.

"Come in," She said angrily.

A petite young lady entered with a smile.

"Welcome home ma'am. I'm Maria and I was appointed as your personal servant. Please do not hesitate to ask me for whatever you need" She said with a smile.

How much is Xavier paying her to be so sweet?

"Get out," Jade pointed at the door. Maria blinked.

"But…"

"I said get out!" Jade picked the lamb on her bedside table and threw it at the poor girl but she dodged with a fright and ran to the door.

"Dinner will be served at six and please don't be late. Boss hates tardiness" Maria quickly said and ran out.

Jade closed her eyes and fell back into the bed.

All she needed was a place to escape all this madness.

The darkness consumed her and when she finally opened her eyes, it was twenty five minutes past six.

"Holy shit!" She jumped down the queen size bed and ran to the bathroom for a quick shower.

Her clothes were neatly arranged in the closet and she quickly chose a floral dress. She didn't apply any makeup but brushed her brown hair in a tight ponytail.

When she opened her door, the two men were still standing on guard.

Jade walked past them with a hiss but they followed her.

She stopped and they did. She took another step and they did too.

"This is totally unnecessary! I can't walk around the house myself!" She walked away but they followed her.

"You're going the wrong way ma'am," One of them said with a rough voice.

She turned and took another turn.

"Not that way either" The other one said to her.

"Well show me the way then!" She placed a hand on her hip and followed one while the other walked behind her.

"This is unacceptable!" She said to Xavier when she finally found him on a balcony.

"You're late" He simply said. He wore a gray shirt that hugged him and displayed his tattoos with black jeans.

"That is not the issue! Do they really have to follow my every move!? I said I won't run away! For chrissake, I can't even if I wanted to!" She exclaimed.

Xavier quietly stood and drew out a chair for her.

"Sit" He ordered and she did. "You talk too much," He smiled.

"You drive me nuts!" She stated and gulped down her wine. "I usually don't talk a lot"

"What changed?" He poured himself another glass of wine and stretched his long legs that reached to hers across the table.

"I was very quiet in college until I met this guy. He was so arrogant and annoying as f.uck. He intentionally provoked me, forcing me to yell and talk all the fucking time and one day, I got him expelled" She smiled. "Nobody mess with Jade"

"Really?" He smirked.

"So watch out Xavier. I can easily take care of the people I don't like" She sat back in her chair.

"And I can easily get rid of anyone that annoys me" He smiled back. "Next time, don't keep me waiting" He gave her a warning look.

"I can't see any food" She gestured at the table but some servants immediately walked in with different delicacies.

"Help yourself"

"I'm allergic to white onions," She said. He looked at the dishes.

"Which one has white onions?" He huskily asked but she shrugged.

He briefly tapped his phone and some chefs walked in.

"Which dish has white onion?" He turned to them. "And who cooked it?"

"I did, sir" One of the chefs stepped out.

"I specifically said no whites" He removed his pistol and shot the chef.

The rest took the dishes away while some of his men took the body away.

He looked at her and she was pale.

"That was unnecessary" She said with a shaky breath.

"Eat up" He put back the pistol. "You will get used to it"

Jade couldn't eat anything but drank a lot of water.

Not only did she lose her appetite, the sound of a gunshot always displaces her.

"Give me your hand" He said to her.

"Why?" She slowly gave him her hand but she felt the cold ring slide slowly around her middle finger.

"What the hell!?" She drew her hand away and looked at the ring with a huge diamond on it.

"You deserve an engagement ring because our wedding is just in a week" He stated.

Jade quickly stood up and threw the ring at him.

"What nonsense wedding!?" She yelled.

Khalil hurried down the stairs, his footsteps echoing through the hallway. His servants informed him that Jade was waiting for him. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her standing in his foyer, two young boys by her side. For a moment, he thought it was a prank, but the look on his servants' faces told him otherwise. They knew better than to play tricks on him, especially when it came to someone like Jade. As he descended the stairs, Khalil's eyes locked onto Jade's, and he felt his heart skip a beat. She looked different, yet the same. Her hair was styled differently, and her eyes seemed more tired than he remembered, but the spark in them was still there. The boys standing beside her were the spitting image of Xavier, and Khalil's gut twisted with a mix of emotions. He had thought they were his once, had fought for them, only to discover they weren't. Now, seeing them with Jade, he felt a pang of longing. Khalil stopped a few feet away from Jade, his eyes drinking

The cold metal door creaked as Jade slipped into the small, dimly lit safehouse. Her heart thudded with every step she took. The silence was suffocating. She looked over her shoulder again, just to be sure she wasn’t followed.Raquel stood by the window, her arms folded, her profile lit by the thin strip of daylight sneaking through the blinds. She didn’t turn around.“You shouldn’t have come here,” Raquel said softly.Jade shut the door behind her and leaned against it. “Xavier’s after you.”Raquel chuckled dryly. “I’m aware.”He saw her that night. That night she helped Jade escape.“He thinks you helped me… He’s not going to forgive that, Raquel.”“I don't expect him to.”Xavier will forever be Xavier.Jade stepped further into the room, her voice almost in a whisper. “He doesn’t have the boys. He lied. He was bluffing… and I believed him. Raquel, if he doesn’t have them… where are they?”There was a long pause. Raquel turned, her face calm. Too calm.Jade’s breath caught. That n

The apartment was too quiet. Jade sat at the edge of her sons’ bed, her fingers lightly brushing over a small stuffed bear left behind in the rush of that night. The room still smelled like them, like clean cotton, crayons, and safety. It used to calm her. Now it only reminded her how empty the house felt. Her heart was at war. Was she wrong to try and run? Should she fight harder? Or should she just stay and play nice until she found a safer way out? He had the boys and she wants them back. Without him in their lives. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she blinked them away. No. She wasn’t going to break again. She had already handed in her resignation. Burned every bridge. She was ready to disappear, to take her boys somewhere Xavier would never find them. Somewhere quiet. Somewhere normal. But her plans fell apart the moment she learned Xavier had already taken them. Why would he do this before the week was over? He gave her time! Well, she trie

Jade paused at the threshold of Xavier’s office, the polished mahogany double doors looking like gates to a castle. She swallowed hard, steadying the tremor in her limbs. The room beyond glowed softly under warm lights, rich carpets, heavy draperies, walls lined with old portraits, the imposing desk at center stage. This place had once belonged to her. Now it belonged to him. She stepped forward, shoes whispering across the carpet. Her eyes swept the room, memorizing the place she had tried to leave behind, the throne he now occupied. Each familiar detail stung, the leather chairs, the shelves of books, the desk where many decisions had been made. Her throat felt tight. She's here again. Xavier sat behind the desk, hands folded, his face calm, too calm. He looked up, eyes locking on hers. The quiet flickered between them. “Jade,” he said, voice smooth, “back so soon?” Her chest clenched. She took a breath, trying to steady her voice. “I didn’t come

The house was silent when Jade crept through the hallway, every step measured. The moonlight filtered through narrow windows, painting pale stripes across the carpet. Her heart pounded so hard she feared the walls might hear it. She paused outside her sons’ door. A soft, even rhythm, a lullaby in breathing. Her boys slept, clutching small blankets. She swallowed hard. This was it. Raquel stood behind her, flashlight in hand, face pale but determined. “I checked the guards, the routes. We’re clear for now.” Jade nodded. She pressed a finger to her lips. “Let me just… one more look.” She touched her boys’ cheeks softly, memorizing. She kissed their foreheads. “Mommy’s going to take you somewhere safe. Forever.” They stirred slightly but stayed asleep. Relief flooded her, bitter and sharp. The door to her room was ajar. Light spilled from under. She froze. Footsteps echoed beyond, outside the room. Her body tensed. Raquel touched her arm. “That’s our signal.

She froze. There, in the living room, her boys were on the floor, building a fort with couch pillows. And sitting across from them on the armrest was Xavier, tapping away at his phone like nothing had happened. Her knees almost gave way. He looked up casually, a small smirk pulling at the corners of his mouth. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” he said. Jade didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. Liam saw her and squealed with delight. “Mommy!” Liam ran to her, hugging her legs, pulling on her arm. “Play with us!” Liam said. She knelt, hugging him tightly, her heart aching, relief washing over her in a wave that made her dizzy. But behind that relief… was rage. He’s playing with her. He knew she'd panic. He wanted this. She stood slowly, her eyes locked on him. “You think this is funny?” Xavier raised an eyebrow. “What?” “You told me I had a week.” He stood now, slowly, deliberately. “And you do. I just missed them. Thought I’d take them for the evening. Is that a crime?”
