Ruth’s voice was still fierce, but there was no real heat in it.

When she mentioned that Katie was trying to steal Abel away from her, Abel’s pupils dilated. He bowed his head and gave a light peck to her lips while he caressed her face.

“I wasn’t watching you make a fool of yourself, and I don’t regret marrying you instead of Katie.”

Abel nodded. “Do you remember the first time we met? My grandfather arranged for us to meet each other on a date, but she was late. I heard that she even found someone to show up at her place.”
