Tom smiled. Before he could speak, Pearl said, “But I already had my dinner, so I’m not hungry now.”

He spluttered. Seeing that she did not realize he wanted to ask her out, he went straight to the point.

“Even if you’ve had dinner, you can still accompany me. Where are you? I’ll go pick you up,” said Tom as he started his car engine.
