Andrea crossed her arms over her chest and sneered, “Either way, I don’t want your whore's filthy hands touching my son!”

Xavier inhaled sharply, his fists shook and Halle could tell he was trying hard not to take any drastic action in front of Damien.

“Don’t call her that, if you can’t call her by her name or treat her with respect then I suggest you leave!” Xavier stood up, his chair squealing uncomfortably because of the speed.

“Leave?” Andrea scoffed, “I and my son aren’t going anywhere!” She declared, “We already have our bags set up and we are here to stay!”

“On whose authority?”

“Martha’s!” Andrea retorted, “Martha has given me and the ‘heir' of the Stone family to live in Stone Manor for as long as we want!” She announced, shocking Halle and she was sure, Xavier as well.

“Martha…” Xavier said under his breath. Then he nodded.

“Don’t unpack yet,” He said and then turned around to walk out of the kitchen. He was fuming mad and Halle hoped he wouldn’t disrespect his aunt unin

Dark. It was so dark, her eyes felt heavy and it was hard to breathe. Halle couldn’t tell if she was alive or dead. All she heard was Martha's voice echoing in her head over and over again and it only served to remind her just how disposable she was to the Stone family. Halle felt cold, then she felt the urge to cry. She was feeling a little of thing at that moment and lastly she wondered, would Xavier find her before it is too late? Or would she end up dying in front of that library door. This wouldn’t be such a bad way to die, she’s already achieved what her mother swore she wouldn’t, graduated and somehow had her name written in the records of a big university. That was more than she ever imagined her life would amount to. Maybe this would be the best way to go. While the darkness took her deeper and deeper into its unexplored depths, Halle wondered why she had to die when she had only just started her life. Being with him felt like a second chance, starting over on s

  • Xavier's Surrogate   HYPOCRITE

Halle quickly got to work, she brought out his favorite cotton pants and hoodie. Then she stripped him of the clothes he had worn earlier in the morning. The pants were harder to take off because they were wet so she had to use the scissor in his bedside drawer to cut it off. She listened for his heart best every twenty seconds as she dressed him up. Too disoriented to focus on anything other than his health and warmth. Maybe not too disoriented. At some point her hands had lingered on his abs, loving how the ridges felt under her palm but of course no one needed to know that. Once he was in completely dry clothes, Halle began to strip as well, she put on one of his shirts and paired it with a dark blue underwear that also belonged to Xavier, her fingers lingering on the baby bump that was beginning to show. The reality of her situation glaringly unsettling. “Flower…” He rasped out weakly, Halle immediately ran to his side and held his outstretched hand in hers. His eyes were only

  • Xavier's Surrogate   DAMIEN

Andrea had moved into Stone Manor with Damien a little over a week. In that one week that she stayed away, Xavier and Martha were not on good terms with each other and Martha’s constant and loud reprimanding tone could be heard from the library close to Halle’s room. Xavier’s health had deteriorated but the man refused to let it brings him to his knees, he worked even harder and every night tried to convince Halle to move in to his room. Tonight was no different and just like every other night… “Nope, I’m good,” Halle raised her hands in mock surrender and shook her head. Rejecting his request yet again. Halle wondered if it was safe to keep having sex with him with the amount of warnings Horacio had given them but Xavier didn’t seem to be affected or even care. Another reason why Halle suspected that the illness he had has nothing to do with leukemia. She hasn’t dared voice her suspicion to anyone though, the tension at the manor has been high in the past few days and it always

  • Xavier's Surrogate   JUST IN CASE

Of course, it made sense that his mother would come with him, Halle knew Andrea would definitely try to make a big deal of things if Xavier informed her that he wanted to spend some time with his some and Halle without her disdainful supervision. Her first answer would probably be no and once she tells the little boy no, he would cave out of fear and agree with anything his mother says to him. While Halle and Tabitha moved a few of her things into Xavier’s room as per his request and the deal they both made, Xavier was talking to Andrea about going out to shop the next day. Halle didn’t feel comfortable leaving the two of them alone but she tried hard not to let her jealousy control her. While she folded things into her bag, her mind filled with different thoughts of things she knew wouldn’t happen, Tabitha snorted while Collette who was at the far end of the room did the same. “She’s so full of herself!” Tabitha complained, “She’s only been here for two days but she has succe

  • Xavier's Surrogate   CONTROL

Halle has never doubted the loyalty of the men that surrounded Xavier because he picked them as his Capo whatever and he wasn’t stupid. The man was way smarter than he let on and Halle knew that if someone was being disloyal to him, he would have sniffed it out by now. This wasn’t even her problem! Or maybe it was. “I think I need a real long sleep…my brain is proactive with its paranoia and it is exhausting!” Tabitha chuckled and patted Halle’s head, “This is why I am never having kids,” Tabitha said and then cleared her throat as her cheeks turned a dark shade of pink, “Well unless Monty decides he wants kids,”Halle shook with laughter. Tabitha was hopelessly in love with the guy despite her denying it many times and saying she only wanted him for his dick. Lies. Now she was thinking about having kids with him. While of course, unbeknownst to the rest of them in the house, Monty has a huge crush on Martha or maybe it was more than a crush to him. Halle had notic

  • Xavier's Surrogate   EMERGENCY

The next morning, Halle wished she didn’t dredge what was to come but the emotions she felt were a mix of apprehension and excitement. She was the first to wake up despite being the last person to fall asleep. After doing all that he had promised to her…deliciously so, Halle felt strangely energetic and her eyes stayed open even a few hours after he had fallen asleep. Xavier stirred beside her, maybe he felt the little movements that she made as she tried to get off the bed with wanting him to wake up. He groaned low in his throat and his arm rested on her lower belly, caressing her baby bump with a contented sigh. As the morning light streamed through the curtains, Halle turned to face Xavier, her eyes glowing with affection. "Good morning, Xavier," she replied softly, leaning in to give him a gentle kiss. "Did you sleep well?"Xavier nodded with a smile, his fingers tracing delicate patterns on Halle's belle. "I did, thanks to you and certain activities that occurred last nig

  • Xavier's Surrogate   LIKE A MOTHER

Tabitha blew out a heavy breath as she started down at her feet. Not meeting Halle’s eyes. If they didn’t want her to worry or suspect anything, they should at least act like nothing was going on. “Are you okay?” Halle asked as she pulled on her clothes properly and began to decide on how to style her hair. “Yes…I…I’m just, a bit shaken,” Tabitha said as she forced a weak smile and rubbed her palms against the sides of the apron over her clothes, they left a wet patch. They were sweaty. “What’s gotten you so shaken up?” Halle lifted a brow in question, “Who was on the phone?” Halle asked, a feeling of dread mixed with her former excitement settling in her stomach and creating a rather unsettling feeling that she didn’t enjoy in any way. “I…it was Monty,” Tabitha cleared her throat, “The Delgado family seems to have made their move already,”Halle shook her head in confusion, “I still don’t really understand this Delgado business…does the Stone family owe them something?”

  • Xavier's Surrogate   FOR DAMIEN

Halle reluctantly sat down at the breakfast table with Andrea, trying her best to maintain composure despite the woman’s rude demeanor. The atmosphere was tense as they began to eat, and Andrea wasted no time in making snide remarks.“It has been baffling me how a woman like is the reason why Xavier has been acting so cold towards me and what baffles me even more is fact that you are still in this house and this family,” Andrea sneered.Halle took a deep breath, reminding herself not to let Andrea’s comments get to her. “I’m here because Xavier wants me to be and because I am obliged to be here as well. I’m practically family now,” Halle replied calmly.Andrea rolled her eyes. “Family, huh? You think you’re so important just because you’re pregnant with Xavier’s child. Trust me, you’re just a passing phase, and once he gets over this infatuation, you’ll be long gone.”Halle felt a pang of hurt at Andrea’s words but refused to show it. • Xavier's Surrogate   FIRST TIME

“Do I really need to be blindfolded for this?” Halle asked with a warm chuckle. Xavier just grinned mysteriously in response, guiding her by the shoulders through what sounded like a set of heavy doors given the echo. “Patience, Flower. I promise, it’s worth the surprise,” he assured her, amusement and excitement dancing in his tone. Halle smiled and cooperated as he led her slowly ahead a few more steps. Her heart swelled, trusting Xavier so completely even when she couldn’t see. After everything they had endured, Halle knew without doubt he would never lead her anywhere dangerous again. “Just a little further,” Xavier coached. “Watch your step.” His sturdy hands on her waist aided Halle in navigating what felt like a small staircase. A few more shuffling paces forward and they finally halted. Halle quivered in anticipation. “Can I look now?” “One moment…” She heard the smile in Xavier’s voice just before he moved behind her and untied the blindfold at last. “Now you can open your

  • Xavier's Surrogate   REVENGE

When Halle awoke late one night from another vivid episode of panic, Xavier recognized a shift had finally occurred. He gathered her quaking frame close while she wept, exhausted and heart sore. “Shh I have you, just breathe,” he soothed until the tension slowly left her muscles. Halle clung to him like an anchor amidst stormy waters even once fully awake. “I’m scared, Xavier,” she admitted in a small voice once sufficiently calmed. “Scared she’ll find us again.” Xavier steeled himself before answering gently. “Then it’s time I put real end to this. For your peace of mind, and our son’s future.” Halle’s arms tightened around him briefly at the implication. But she simply nodded bravely when she pulled back. “Just promise me you’ll come back safely. I can’t lose you.” Her palm cupped his bearded cheek with profound tenderness. Turning his head, Xavier pressed a kiss into her open palm. “I will always come back to you Halle,” he avowed passionately. His piercing gaze bore into hers,

  • Xavier's Surrogate   THE THREAT

Xavier paused in the open doorway, gazing at the scene before him – Halle curled protectively around their three week old son as he nursed, her expression tired but content, Damien was at the edge of the bed, curiously watching and asking questions, his wide eyes innocent and childlike, just like it ought to be. Xavier’s heart swelled at the simple domestic sight, still scarcely able to believe he had nearly lost them forever.Halle had begged for Damien to be close, so the second they left Halle’s birth country in Africa, he had Monty bring the young boy out from hiding and back with them, where he belonged. After Halle had been safely recovered and gave birth, Xavier wasted no time whisking her away to a secluded estate where they could focus solely on healing without fear of Martha’s lingering reach. And healing was no small feat after the trauma Halle had endured. Though her physical wounds were minimal, the psychological toll left lasting scars. She was plagued regularly by v

  • Xavier's Surrogate   PEACE

Halle drifted slowly up towards consciousness, clinging to the last visages of a dream where she was enveloped in tender warmth and comforting strength. Even semi-conscious, she instinctively recognized the sensations cocooning her now were real, not imagined. But after endless days and nights of torment, believing rescue could only manifest as a fantasy, Halle desperately avoided opening her eyes fully. What if this beautiful illusion shattered the instant she woke up? The possibility made her heart seize with renewed panic. No - the arms cradling her were solid, the scent of juniper and fresh rain surrounding her unmistakably Xavier’s. This precious peace was real, it had to be. Halle focused on steadying her breaths, mentally grasping for fragments of memory through the haze still clouding her thoughts. Flashes filtered back now – the frantic escape attempt, searing contractions hitting, Xavier appearing through her delirium of pain like a saving vision…the sweet sound of her chi

  • Xavier's Surrogate   COUNTRY

A FEW HOURS EARLIER… The scorching sun beat down as Xavier surveyed the sprawling, dusty streets from the backseat of the nondescript sedan. It had taken tremendous resources and calling in more favors than he could count to get boots on the ground in this remote country so quickly. But nothing could deter him from his mission – finding Martha and making her pay for taking Halle.Taking the woman he loved and then sending him papers to sign while at it. Xavier gritted his testy as he thought about the phone call he had gotten from his aunt, she’d sent papers to his mail…asking him to sign over everything to her, that was her endgame. If she couldn’t get it from Damien as she’d originally intended, she’d get it directly from the man himself. Xavier had agreed to her deal but…he wasn’t really going to sign those paper. Stone was his legacy and he’ll be damned if he let’s and overly ambitious bitch take over and ruin everything he’s built. His mind wandered inevitably to images of h

  • Xavier's Surrogate   SOMEWHERE SAFE

Too spent to argue, Halle permitted him to gently help her ease down onto the padded nest now warming her chilled legs. Though hardly ideal accommodations, at least she was off the frigid concrete floor. Monty seemed satisfied with his efforts.“I must inform the Don that you have been found before he burns the brothel down,” he announced. Before Halle could wrap her mind around the significance of his deliberate phrasing, Monty had disappeared back down the cellar corridor with a final instruction tossed over his shoulder – “Try to focus your energies, I will be back as fast as I can.”Xavier…was here, for her. Halle couldn’t hold back her relieve tears but of course that feeling was short lived. Then Halle was alone again with her body’s urgent demands. She closed her eyes, trying futilely to center her wild thoughts through the intensifying contractions. But it was impossible to find any inner calm or fortitude. Not with her heart pounding anew wondering how much longer until

  • Xavier's Surrogate   THE BIRTH

Halle’s heart hammered violently in her chest as the first contraction seized her swollen belly. There was no denying it now – the terror and physical exertion of her escape attempt had triggered full blown labor. Her child was coming, ready or not, even as Martha’s henchmen battered viciously to break in.“Shit!” Halle cursed under her breath as she held her belly, the pain hitting her unexpectedly and making her whole body sway and her legs shake. Leaning heavily on the dusty desk, Halle fought to stay upright and quiet through the painful tightening. But despite clenching her jaw, a low moan still escaped through her gritted teeth. The dampness soaking her dress kept spreading. “Why are you so impatient…” Halle cursed through gritted teeth, trying her best to stay up right so as to prevent any complications. From down the cellar corridor came another resounding crack – the stubborn old door’s hinges were splintering rapidly under the men’s force. In mere minutes they would be

  • Xavier's Surrogate   THE BABY

Halle awoke with a gasp, her heart already racing. Today was the day – the day she would finally attempt her escape from this nightmare. She lay still for a moment, focusing on slowing her breathing and gathering her courage. The gloom shrouded the cramped room, but Halle’s eyes discerned the packed bag hidden beneath her cot containing the supplies she had managed to secretly squirrel away over the past week. The last week had been utter torment, forcing herself to endure her mother’s assaults and the groping hands of repulsive men trying to lay claim to her while pretending total resignation. More than once she had nearly faltered, the will to fight slowly being crushed out of her. But she would gently caress the swell of her belly. She could not – would not – let this place and its monsters claim another child if there was any hope of escape.Moving slowly to avoid any sounds of creaking, Halle eased herself up to sit on the edge of the mattress. Her heavy, cumbersome belly m

  • Xavier's Surrogate   SILENCE

The days dragged by in agonizing torture as Halle remained trapped in her personal hell. Time ceased to hold meaning within the dingy confines of the small room that had been hers as a teenager under her mother’s cruel control. The peeling walls oozed with memories of past suffering, the very air thick with hopelessness. And now, heavy with her unborn child, Halle felt more trapped than ever. Her mother’s daily visits always ended with fresh bruises blossoming on her skin, dark reminders of her powerlessness. When not enduring her mother’s rage, Halle spent the empty hours curled miserably on the cot, arms wrapped around her belly as if to shield the precious life within from the darkness pressing in around them.On the fifth night, Halle lay tense and sleepless, every creak of the old brothel putting her nerves on edge. She stared dry-eyed into the gloom, too weary even for tears. The baby’s steady kicks were her only comfort. When the familiar scrape of the main door opening reached
