LIKE A MOTHER

Tabitha blew out a heavy breath as she started down at her feet. Not meeting Halle’s eyes.

If they didn’t want her to worry or suspect anything, they should at least act like nothing was going on.

“Are you okay?” Halle asked as she pulled on her clothes properly and began to decide on how to style her hair.

“Yes…I…I’m just, a bit shaken,” Tabitha said as she forced a weak smile and rubbed her palms against the sides of the apron over her clothes, they left a wet patch.

They were sweaty.

“What’s gotten you so shaken up?” Halle lifted a brow in question, “Who was on the phone?” Halle asked, a feeling of dread mixed with her former excitement settling in her stomach and creating a rather unsettling feeling that she didn’t enjoy in any way.

“I…it was Monty,” Tabitha cleared her throat, “The Delgado family seems to have made their move already,”

Halle shook her head in confusion, “I still don’t really understand this Delgado business…does the Stone family owe them something?”
