I edited some parts of a novel for one of my team members before my alarm rang. I had to face Azrael today and the thought that someone hated me before they even knew me had me feeling uneasy, especially since I liked him, but I was taking my chance because I was determined to make Azrael accept me as his editor.
āI have to leave Sven.ā I said as I gathered the manuscript and handed it to Sven Walker, who smiled when he saw I was done.
āWow, you really do a thorough job.ā Sven said as another of the team member. Jade peeped at the paper and nodded.
āIām almost jealous. How can your work be that neat?ā Jade said as I smiled at the compliment.
āI really enjoy books and I love it more when someone else can enjoy it as well.ā I replied before I grabbed my things.
āIāll probably see you later or tomorrow.ā I said before I left immediately, greeting and waving at anyone I was familiar with.
I arrived at Azraelās apartment as early as I expected. I was confident today to use the key, so I did and entered the apartment before I locked it behind me quietly.
The first thing that disgusted me before I hit the lights was the potent smell of alcohol, sex, and puke. The environment was very much scattered, disorganized, trash everywhere, with empty bottles of beers, wine and alcoholic beverages. There were used condoms on the floor and clothes scattered around that it terrified me to cross to the other side.
āIāll have to clean here up.ā I said as I walked around the entire house in search of any cleaning agent until I found them in the bathroom. That was the only neat place in the house, apart from the kitchen.
I hummed as I cleaned the trash, sorting it into biodegradable, organic and non-biodegradable waste. Things I wasnāt certain about, I placed in another bag to sort it later with Azrael because we could never produce a great healthy book in a dirty and unhealthy environment.
It would be too dark for the readers and the author, whose positivity would be influenced negatively.
Now it was time for breakfast and I was thankful I picked up groceries on the way, since Azrael had nothing in his kitchen.
āIāll need to buy groceries, new cleaning agents, air freshener, some suppliesā¦ā I wrote everything he would certainly need for a healthier living.
I was in the processing of making breakfast so I could wake Azrael when I heard someone at the door of the kitchen.
It shocked me when I saw a woman, strawberry blonde and tall against the door with a bathrobe she had let loose that revealed the fullness of her breast. She had a towel wrapped around her shoulder showing she came out of the shower and her hair was dishevelled, that gave her an exciting sexual allure and it didnāt help that she was an alpha.
Women were not my sexual preference, but I give credit to beautiful women, especially the ones who can make me blush.
āYou must be the new maid Mitsu was talking about. He didnāt say you were quite a beauty.ā The alpha female said as she approached me before she placed her hand underneath my chin and raised my head towards her.
āHave you slept with him?ā She asked as I stared at her in disbelief. āYouāre quite his type, small and honest and very naĆÆve. It almost makes me sick.ā
I shoved her as I hugged my body in defence before she laughed hard with her hands on her stomach.
āI shouldnāt be worried. Thereās absolutely no way Mitsu would like an omega, though I wouldnāt mind playing with you sometimes.ā She said as I turned back and switched off the gas.
āI donāt understand why youāre laughing but I assure you, Miss, I have no sexual interest nor physical intimacy with Azrael and I would appreciate it if you didnāt feel threatened by my presence or identify as his maid. His editor is me. I said with a patient smile, even though I was a few words away from hitting her.
She was going to argue when Azrael walked in with a scowl on his face and stared at me before his eyes shifted from mine to the female alpha, whose facial expression changed to excitement.
āBaby, youāre awake.ā The lady said as she hugged Azrael, her big boobs pushing against his chest while I rolled my eyes at the vixen.
āDaphne, youāre still here? I told you to leave before I wake up.ā Azrael said, as he glared at her with indifference.
āI was planning to make you something delicious, but I didnāt know we had a guest. Can I keep him?ā She asked as I gritted my teeth and clicked my tongue.
āGet out.ā Azrael said as I stared at him.
I was silent at the tone he used before I tiptoed past him, but he grabbed my arm before I could move any further.
āI wasnāt referring to you, omega.ā Azrael said as Daphne stared at him in disbelief.
āYouāre not kicking me out because ofā¦ because of that omega?ā Daphne asked in disbelief as she stared at Azrael, who still had a straight face.
āIāve been wanting to do this for a while now. Iām tired of you, so leave and donāt come back.ā Azrael said, as tears escaped Daphneās eyes before she slapped him and ran away.
Azrael chuckled as he pulled out a cigarette pack and a lighter from his pocket and lit the cigarette.
āAre you okay?ā I asked as I watched a large smoke escape from his mouth.
āIām hungry.ā He said, ignoring the bruise on his cheek that made me feel uncomfortable.
āIāll get the ointment.ā I was going to get it before he grabbed my elbow and pushed me to the wall.
āYou should listen to me or join her.ā Azrael whispered before I glared at him and exhaled.
āFine.ā I dragged my arm from his grip and entered the kitchen to get his breakfast.
I dropped his meal in front of him and sat down opposite him before he picked up a spoon and started eating.
The first bite he took, he stopped eating and dropped the spoon as I pondered if it tasted bad, but I was certain it wasnāt.
āIs anythingā¦ā
āWhy do you want to be my editor?ā Azrael asked as he rubbed his facial hair.
āTo be honest, I never thought I would meet you in my lifetime before wanting to be your editor. An author is just as good as their editor because itās our motivation and sacrifices that make our authors proud of anything written, produced, thought, imagined. You may not know, but Iāve been your biggest fan for almost nineteen years.ā
āNineteen years?ā Azrael asked, as I nodded and placed my finger on my wedding ring.
āMost of your fans think that Time Loop is your first book written, but when I was seven, your first book was a childrenās book; All Alien needs is a friend.ā I narrated. āIt was quite sad, but I loved it and from that day I followed your books. It led me to a lot of good people, including my partner, but then suddenly when I was in high school, your writing style changed and I couldnāt understand why because I didnāt know where you were.ā
āI picked this career not just because I love books but because I wanted to see you and tell you I am grateful for dedicating your life to writing and I want you to write not to please the market but because itās a story you want to share with the world. A reflection of you, of someone who loves to write because I love that about you.ā
Azrael said nothing before he picked up the spoon and ate the meal after I poured out my honest feeling.
I felt embarrassed for saying words that seemed like words of confession but you canāt unsay the said and I felt very content with it, even if Azrael was to reject me as his editor.
He dropped the spoon on the empty plate as he opened the bottle of water and drank as I watched his Adam's apple bobbing before he dropped the empty bottle on the tray.
āAre you good with house chores?ā Azrael asked, and I nodded. āCan you drive?ā
āNo, but Iām taking classes.ā
āIsnāt your partner worried about you staying in another manās house?ā
āMy partner trusts me and is also aware of my schedule in case of emergencies.ā
āDo you have kids?ā Azrael asked, and I shook my head.
āI donāt think Iām ready to be a parent, plus itāll take some time to conceive since my husband is a beta.ā I explained as I placed my hand on the table.
āI will pay you extra to work as my housekeeper. You do a neat job and your food is edible for a working male omega.ā Azrael said, as I clenched my fist.
Azrael chuckled warmly, and I felt slightly embarrassed before I released my fist and smiled.
This partnership could definitely work.
This partnership could work? I spoke too soon because the days after Azrael went back to being a jerk. āI donāt mind you making a mess, Azrael, but you should learn to trash used condoms properly and I would appreciate it if you disposed of your alcohol bottlesā¦ Itās disgusting!ā I shouted as Azrael laid on the couch, rubbing his stomach as he read through what he had handwritten. āYou can always quit.ā Azrael said, as he dropped the manuscript and took off his glasses. Azrael had a bad habit of smoking after writing a good manuscript, but I couldnāt give him that luxury anymoreā¦ I was through with being overly friendly. I grabbed the cigarette butt from his lips and extinguished it before I grabbed the lighter and the box and threw it at a trashcan. āSmoking isnāt good for your health. I get that science has improved and thereās a
I pressed on the doorbell and waited patiently before the door opened and I stared at Azrael with an innocent look. He had a cigarette in his mouth and had his reading glasses; he looked back into the house then stared at me.āWhat do you want, brat?ā Azrael asked as he exhaled smoke from his mouth. āWe werenāt to meet today.āāI know, I know, but I didnāt come here as your editor. I came here as just Leslie and I brought drinks.ā I said as I raised the bag in my hands. āI canāt take alcohol because of low tolerance, but everyone loves soda, and I also picked up some yogurts if you didnāt like it and bought two cans of beer with a minimum percentage.āāWhy are you doing this?ā Azrael asked.āI want to be your friend.ā I whispered as I took a bold step towards him. āI sincerely want to get closer to you, Azrael.āAzrael stared at me as I waited patiently in silence before he walked in with the
Azrael The vibrations from my phone woke me from the long-awaited sleep. I frowned as I picked up my phone before I saw Reina as the caller ID. I knew exactly why she was calling, so I dropped my phone before something fell from my body; a blanket. I stared at it and picked it up as I tried hard to remember when I took the time to pick it up before the scent of hot food from the kitchen wafted in. It couldnāt be. I thought as I rushed out of my chair to the kitchen. I barged in and stared at Leslie, who was tasting the stew in the cooking spoon before he turned back and smiled at me. āOh, youāre awake and right on time. Dinner is ready.ā Leslie said as he dropped the spoon aside and picked up a few plates. āI told Ben I wouldnāt be heading home late since Iām having dinn
LeslieI was returning home from the office. I was happy heading home early since today was one of those days I refrained from Azraelās place and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner.I suggested to him a few times to buy an AI with culinary skills, but Azrael remains the traditional person he is. I suggested a housekeeper, but most of them were elderly people and he would be stuck doing the keeping than kept.I praised the excuses he gave because he enjoyed teasing me, after all, we are now on good terms. Also, he is unaware I am his fated pair, and Iād like to keep it that way.The chances of finding a fated pair were less than a percent and for the few who did, it was difficult for them to be together due to age or marital status, but when they did; it was a love that lasted till death, and their children were usually born of far more excellent genes.I was about to open th
āIām sorry for how I acted yesterday. It was rude and inappropriate.ā I apologized with my head lowered to my team members.āItās alright. Once in a while, we need you to put us in our place.ā Sven said as my brows softened.āI was damn tired of you being too nice or the management and authors would eat you alive.ā Jade said as everyone laughed.Reina placed her hand on my shoulder and I stood upright before she smiled at me and raised a chart in her hand.āItās great to have you back Leslie.ā Reina said before I smiled brightly.āLikewise.āThe mood in the office was far lighter than the normal that I was familiar with, but I was glad. There was no hard feeling or resentment against me, especially since my team was used to getting complaints from the other staff.āIām heading out.ā I said after I helped Ash process a request for his author since I only had one author t
I held two tickets to an event to an amusement event and sighed when I remembered the words of Uncle Bob.āLeslie!ā Bob shouted from the door of our office loudly.āAm I in trouble?ā I whispered to Jace, who looked at Bob and shrugged.āHe seems excited.ā Jace whispered before I heard my name over a megaphone this time.āLeslie Campbell!ā Uncle Bob shouted as I stood up. āOutside! Now!ā He screamed as everyone covered their ears before his secretary snatched the megaphone and glared at Bob.āSir, I would appreciate it if you acted appropriately.ā Sawyer, his calm and cold secretary, said as Bob smiled and tapped his shoulders.āSorry love. Leslie now.ā Uncle Bob said as I followed suit immediately with Sawyer maintaining a distance that gave us enough privacy.āIs there anything I can do for you, sir?ā Before Uncle Bob placed his hand inside his suit, I asked, and he ha
AzraelI was mad, and I was mad for a good reason.āHoy kid.ā I said, as Leslie smiled awkwardly.āI just remembered that I have this thing to do for Reina at the office. Iāll see you tomorrow.ā Leslie said, while avoiding my gaze before he left.Strange.āOmega, I needā¦ā He replied by shutting the door with a text message a few minutes later.Another excuse. This went on many times. When we meet, he had something to do; if we had to be around each other, he avoided my gaze and maintained space with his eyes stealing gazes occasionally when he assumes, Iām unaware.I grabbed the cup and chugged the drink before placing it on the table and pouring myself another one.āItās one of those days.ā Mike said as he exhaled smoke. āWhat crawled out of your pants?āāWhatās that supposed to mean? Mitsuki isnāt someone to be in a
LeslieI focused on editing an author under my teamās management work when I heard a loud ruckus. I was startled at the noise and peeked to understand what was happening.āI have great news, everyone. To celebrate our new employee and making another successful book by author R. K Rowling under our editor Jade Lee; the management has rewarded us with a team picnic with all the authors we handle.ā Reina said like she had just won the lottery and it shocked me how everyone banged their table in excitement.āHey Sven, whatās so special about a picnic?ā I whispered, as Sven moved closer.āAny picnic hosted by the company always has prize money. Depending on the game, the prize varies. Team B won one grand for category editor-author leg race. Reina won a new car from an eating contest.ā He replied as I stared at him in shock.āIs the management really okay?ā I asked, and he nodded.āYou
A year has passed, and weāve experienced wonderful and painful things together, but weāre fine and strong.Valentin proposed to Lucas, and they had a fast court wedding in April. No one knew but Ancel, and you canāt blame him. He found out the day they wedded. We knew because I didnāt hear from Lucas for two weeks, but his social media flooded with honeymoon and his past lovers called me to confirm if it was true.Weāre happy for them but everyone in the family except Konrad hopes they donāt have a child as Lucasā fertility period ends. There would be so much awkwardness every time Leslie and I saw that child and the age gap. Dominant omegas fertilities are just too long. There were bad times. Isaac and Sarah separated for a few months because of their careers and a client of Isaac that was Sarahās childhood friend. It wouldnāt be my concern, but Isaac was my brother, and Lucas cried. They were a power-couple so watching them almost throw everything because of another woman; it was pa
AzraelLeslieās second pregnancy journey was fierce. Tougher than the duration he was pregnant with Nikolaus.Week ten.Leslie eats mostly fruits because his nausea is heavy. He gets fatigued over minimum effort and sleeps for long durations. He cries a lot, but he bounces back after the mood swings. He craves churros with weird dips and ketchup a lot.Week seventeen.Leslieās a little underweight but his bump is growing now. The doctor gave us a supplementary diet weāre strictly following. Leslie hates the taste, but Carson Campbell, Isaac and Lucas are great helps with improving the diet.Leslieās nausea is getting better but his mood swings arenāt better.Week twenty-four.Weāre going to go for a gender test but mother insists on a gender reveal party so the results will be mailed to her. Since we donāt know the babyās gender, we decided to start decorating with neutral colours like orange and yellow, but Leslie wants purple. We havenāt started picking names, but we know bobby is g
LeslieThe daily life of a marrying a spoilt rich international treasure.I wake up by five every morning for devotion and head to the kitchen. I enter the kitchen and start preparing school lunch for my kid.Ida joins me in the kitchen around six to make breakfast for everyone except I package Azraelās breakfast because he wakes up when the driver takes Niko to school.Azrael wakes up around ten and eats breakfast late if he eats at all. On days Azrael wakes up early, I donāt work at home.I continue to unwrap wedding gifts from family, friends and fans, sorting things to give out and donate with the servants until I get exhausted. Our habits didnāt change after marriage, and weāve been married for five months, but things were different in a good way. Pleasant. At least until now.I bolted to the bathroom and crouched in front of the toilet, gripped the toilet seat and hurled in the bowl. My stomach twisted in pain, but gentle pats soothed my churning stomach.āIs that better?ā Azrae
LeslieThe soft strands of the brush glided carefully around my cheeks and stopped. I opened my eyes and stared at the mirror. The makeup artist did a terrific job making the makeup subtle. My hair was ready, cut shorter than the original length and gelled.Ancel opened the door, surveying seriously with a small note in his hand. He stayed at me and pulled out a white rose from the vase in the room.He placed the rose in my pocket and patted it.āPerfect but I liked the white suit better.āāYou were going to make me wear a long veil if I wore that and this is my second marriage.āāYou and Azrael would match but the blue isnāt bad. Soft and stable and I get to see you marry.ā Ancel said and the door opened.Dad entered with a bouquet of hydrangeas and minor flowers. I recognised the flowers from momās garden and dad handed it to me.āAncel, could you give us a minute?ā Dad asked and Ancel winked.āSure thing pops, have to make sure the setās perfect.ā Ancel said and left the room with
The doorbell rang, and I opened it. Kaiyo stood there with a pout on his face and glared at me. I spread my arms across the door and leaned back a little.āYouāre not here to dump tomato juice on me again, are you?ā I asked, and he blushed.I smiled and lowered my arms.āI came to apologise, so listen closely, because I wonāt say it again.ā He puffed his chest and placed his hand on his hip. āIām sorry for splashing juice on you and saying embarrassing things.āāStay away from Mitsuki. You donāt deserve him. Heās mine.ā I teased, and he turned red.āS-stop teasing me. Y-you be kissing my feet. I came here today.āI patted his head and smiled. āDo you want ice-cream? Sundae?āāWhat flavour?ā He shook his head and wiped his mouth. āIām not a dog.āHe acted like Beccaās, one of Isaacās twins in her teenage stage that doesnāt want to be smouldered by adults. Itās difficult to find innocence and pure naivety at his age these days.Everything I wouldnāt describe Lucas, me or Oliver as.āCom
105LeslieI joined my friends at the table. They were all waiting, so I raised my hand to reveal the wedding ring.āYes!!!ā Everyone cheered. Some high-fives and hugged me.āCongratulations!ā Isaac said and grinned. āYouāre marrying my brother again. Welcome to the family.āWe laughed at the joke, and I nudged Isaac.āI canāt wait to tell everyone, and it was all thanks to me.ā Ancel gloated and pulled out his phone.āHold on there cowboy, Lucas might have already beat you to it. He was the first person Azrael called to while we were in Japan.āāIām still going to spice it up more. I still have a picture of the ring.ā Ancel said and started typing.āThank you.ā I whispered to Ancel. āFor helping me with the ring.āAncel nudged me and smiled. āAnytime. Patronise my company to decorate your wedding. Iāll give a discount even though your fiancĆ©e is one of the wealthiest living things in the world.āāOf course. Just set an appointment for next week.āAncel was genuinely happy, but his ey
AzraelI took pictures as Leslie excitedly stuck out his head from the train; the breeze blowing against his hair and his eyes excited with the nature scenery around Japan.Leslie was my kid, but travelling brought out that soul in him more. No sleep for me if he was awake, talking my ears out on all the places he wanted to go.I never want him to cry or feel lonely when Iām around.āI canāt wait to take a lot of pictures.ā Leslie said, and I sighed.āIāve missed hot spring baths.āThe train stopped, and we headed for one of the popular temples in Kyoto ā Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. We took a lot of pictures with a temple guide giving the history of the temple. I didnāt believe in any gods, unlike my parents and Leslie is Christian, so I couldnāt understand his fascination with temples.āShould we buy a charm or two? Maybe a souvenir?ā Leslie asked.āKid, these god statures arenāt for decorations and children touch things they shouldnāt. Letās stick with the papers that wonāt leave t
103Ben and I watched the examination Dr. Steve had with Niko. They were talking as Niko coloured and laughed.Dr. Steve touched a colour of the Rubik's cube and Niko would match the colours he picked as they talked about random topics unrelated to colours.Dr. Steve came out as a nurse took supervision, and we followed him to his office. We sat down and stared at Dr. Steve. My chest was heavy and my hands sweaty. I exhaled to ease the discomfort in my gut.āI have a few questions.ā Dr. Steve said, and we nodded. āWhen was the first time you noticed your wardās condition?āI stared at Ben, and he nodded in understanding.āWhen he was three. Nikolaus has always responded to the colour red as a baby, so I thought he liked the colour and yesterday, I confirmed he sees everything as red, with few exceptions.ā I narrated, and Dr. Steve nodded.āWhat exceptions?ā Dr. Steve asked.āHimself, me and objects that are actually the colour red.āDr. Steve stared intensely at the both of us and exh
102LeslieKeystone Kindergarten was a beautiful building with welcoming graffiti and bright scenery. It was the beginning of a session. The school was full of parents, kids, and teachers.Azrael and I held Niko as we stared at the building before we saw a familiar toddler run towards us.āRemy!ā Lennon screamed, and Niko broke loose from our hold. They hugged each other, laughing and giggling, then held hands. Lennon was a beautiful boy with a messy mop of brown hair, green eyes, and the brightest smile on his lovely face.āLeslie! Bethan!ā Ben jogged towards us and stopped.āHeās so fast.ā Ben said and hugged me. āItās been a while.āAzrael frowned, and I wrapped Azraelās arm around my shoulder. āYou should keep a closer eye on him.āāOr a leash.ā Azrael added, and we laughed.Ben checked his wristwatch and stared in shock. āI need to head for the office soon. I have a meeting in less than two hours.ā Ben said.āItās your second sonās first day of school. Be supportive.ā I said and
