Mitchell Harris:

The merge signing of the two packs was postponed till the day of the Supreme Alpha's visit, which is today.

My dad had suggested it should be postponed which was met with Alpha Damien's disapproval at first but being the experienced and persuasive alpha that he is, he was able to convince them until they agreed.

I had not been able to spend time with my parents since then despite being in the same pack and living under the same roof, Damien and his father made sure there was someone around us whenever we met.

Not that we all had enough time on our hands anyway since we were all preparing for the Supreme Alpha's welcome banquet.

'My things ' were moved into Damien's room for us to keep up the acting a little longer, except my mate never came back to sleep in the room at night, pretending to be busy with the banquet preparation while sleeping with his chosen mate.

I've been able to get a few days of rest and my body had healed considerably well, my wolf had been awake for two hours the previous day only for her to return to her slumber.

With the banquet being tonight, my mother and Jissa helped me get ready for the big event. They helped me into a beautiful black dress with a princess-style silhouette. That Damien had gotten for me.

The bodice was made of sheer fabric that revealed just a hint of skin, and the sleeves were long and billowy. The skirt was layered and flounced, creating a sense of movement and drama.

It has been so long since I've felt this alive in a dress, despite the beautiful dress, and the well-organized banquet, a feeling is dread settled in my stomach.

I couldn't shake the heavy feeling of apprehension that had settled over me. Something didn't feel right. And even though I tried to push those thoughts aside, they kept creeping back into my mind, like an unwelcome guest who refused to leave.

Bracing myself for the night, I looked into the mirror and whispered words of encouragement.

Tonight I must foil their plan. At whatever cost.

As I stood admiring my reflection in the mirror, the door to the room opened, and I turned to see Damien standing in the doorway. He was dressed in a black and gold tuxedo that perfectly matched the color scheme of my dress. His eyes lingered on me for a moment, and I could see a soft, unreadable expression on his face.

I ignored him and wore the last piece of my jewelry

Three days ago, not staring at him would have given me more hope, I would have been excited and hopeful that I could get my love back, but not anymore.

I would never hold on to a broken hope, not anymore.

"I hope you understand how important tonight is for my pack, the merge, and also the supreme Alpha's visit," Damien asked coldly as he walked closer to me, scenting me as he had been doing since my parent came over.

"I am aware," I replied indifferently.

"Good, be a good girl and make sure everything runs fine without a hitch, you know what will become of you if anything goes wrong tonight," he threatened and placed my hands into his own as we matched into the banquet hall.

"You are not expected to say anything tonight, all you have to do is smile and be pretty, I will do the talking," he instructed as we stepped into the banquet hall.

I felt my wolf shuffle briefly in my mind. She paced back and forth like she was searching for something. After a few minutes, she went back to sleep.

The banquet hall was filled with pack members of all ages, dressed in their finest attire. There was a noticeable air of excitement in the room, with everyone chatting and laughing as they waited for the festivities to begin. The walls were draped in dark purple fabric, with glittering golden accents, and the tables were decorated with detailed floral arrangements and gold-trimmed dishes. Everything was beautiful and festive, but I couldn't help but feel like an outsider in this crowd.

He pulled me along and we mingled with pack members, some were familiar with me, and those who hadn't been in the pack for a while were introduced to me. Damien wore a handsome smile all through; the same smile I had fallen in love with two years ago, during the alphas conference.

He was gentle, loving, and caring, if my resolve wasn't strong enough, I would have fallen in love with him all over again.

But not anymore.

Just then, the room fell silent as the Supreme Alpha entered the room. The air was charged with anticipation as everyone turned to face him, waiting for him to begin the merriments. He was an imposing figure, with a tall and muscular build, and his hazel eyes seemed to see right through everyone in the room.

There was something about him that made it impossible to look away, even though I felt a flicker of fear deep in my heart, as his imposing aura drew me close to him.

The feeling was familiar, yet not familiar at the same time.

My wolf became restless, pacing back and forth, scratching to be let out.

She wanted control, needed it even.

Her paces became desperate.

' Let me out Mitchell ' she growled at me

'You can't not right now, the supreme alpha is here'

'I don't feel good, I don't feel right. Let me out ' she begged

Feeling her desperation deep in my heart, I decided to grant her wish. I was about to ask for permission to use the bathroom when a loud resounding growl pierced the air, sending cold shivers down my back.

Turning back to see what had happened I saw the supreme Alpha sniffing the air in our direction

"His mate is here!" people whispered but I couldn't make sense of what they were saying. My ears were ringing loudly to the pounding of my heart.

His eyes caught mine, glowing and unnatural gold as they got closer to me.

A loud clock Chimed

Tick, Tock

Tick, Tock

Matching the rhythm of my beating heart.

Within a twinkle, I was yanked out of Damien's hand with full force pulling me into the rock-hard chest.

"MATE!"

I heard a quiet female voice mutter beside me and frown in confusion. Where am I? I opened my eyes, blinking continuously to get my eyes used to the brightness of the room. I looked around the unfamiliar room, standing beside my bed was a lady dressed in white, holding a notepad and pen, I frowned slightly trying to make sense of what was happening. Suddenly my head felt heavy as the event from the day before replayed in my mind. I paled in fear remembering that I had been mated to someone else last night and the weird woman I had met while running."Thank you, you can leave now, I will call for you again later to have her checked," a gruff male voice sounded and my wolf stirred at the sound of his voice. I noticed Alpha Mergec's eyes flickered from his normal hazel eyes to gold several times while we maintained eye contact. He looked away from me and out of the window behind me, once his aura had calmed a lot, he looked down at me."If you need to spend more days with your parents, that's fine, you can go back to their pack, but there is no way I'm leaving yo

I quickly glanced at my mother, who gave a subtle nod, confirming his identity. It was all so surreal - the man who I had raised my voice at and who I had looked up to as a child, was now standing before me as the mysterious werewolf Alpha King and my mate. I felt my heart lunge out of my chest in fear as I remembered the attitude I had given him previously, he must have heard the frantic beating of my heart and he gave a reassuring smile. "You reacted the way you were supposed to under that condition, it was my fault for not considering how you felt" he explained calmly, but instead of feeling calm, my heart raced even faster.'I am mated to the Alpha king?' 'The Alpha King!' I exclaimed in my head in unbelief and shock. "So what message do you have for me?" He asked with a more serious yet calm tone. I heaved a sigh and took a de

Mitchell's POVWe finally arrived at the Golden Leaves pack, and some guards opened the door for us immediately after we were parked. Jissa, who slept almost all through the journey, was the first to come out of the vehicle. I followed suit and Miranda came out last. Her outfit made her look out of place, but that was what she had on and we had no choice. We followed the Golden Leaves pack guards, while Alpha Mergec's guards followed behind. The werewolves of my pack had looks of pity, some kept happy faces as they watched us walk through the large compound. Everything seemed to have changed a little and I was taking in the whole scenery. To my far left, the guard's quarters that was a bungalow had now become a group of storied buildings. Beside them was another building, a new one, but I had no idea what it was.Looking to the other side, I saw that the orchard was bigger now. More trees and shade, meaning more cool breeze. I could see some ripe fruits on the ground, and some Omega ma

Even the birds composed a little song for me and sang it endlessly from high up in the trees. Family and friends stood at the opposing sides of the aisle as I glided ceremoniously through it to meet the love of my life. He was standing at the other end, resplendent in all his manliness. His beta stood proudly beside him and Miranda watched at the head of the assembly. She was the ordaining minister. The floor was strewn with petals of Castilian roses. I have never seen that much in one place. And then, with a hot slap to my thigh, it vanished. My head felt as though it had been hit by a thousand bricks. I couldn’t see anything.
