Leah Grows Up

Paul and Leah are now far from the village. They managed to escape the pursuit of the werewolves who wanted to kill Leah on Liam's orders. Arriving in a small town in Alaska, Paul looks for a place to live with Leah.

Paul was very lucky. There was a pavilion house for rent. He also saw that the house was quite large but only occupied by a woman in her 60s. Then, he would rent the pavilion. He would also work to provide for Leah.

"Is that baby your daughter?" the lady asked carefully.

"No, it is not. This baby is my friend's daughter. She passed away after giving birth to her. So, I will take care of her now," Paul replied. He explained it to the lady to avoid any misunderstanding.

"Really?" The lady doubted Paul's statement. She was psychic and could see in Leah's eyes something different from ordinary people.

"What's wrong? You don't believe a word I say?" Paul confirmed it. He had deliberately lied to trick the lady into getting a place to stay.

"Of course. I trust you. Then you can rest with the baby here," the lady said in response.

The psychic lady already knew who the little baby Paul had brought into her home was. However, she did not say it directly in front of Paul.

"Thank you, Mrs," Paul said. He was very happy to be welcomed into the lady's home.

Paul hurried to clean the pavilion to make it look more comfortable to live in. Within a few minutes, the room was clean and tidy. Baby Leah smiled at Paul again. It looked like the little baby had just thanked Paul for taking care of her.

10 years later.

Leah grew up to be a cute, beautiful and adorable little girl. Every day, Paul would measure her height, check her teeth and control her weight. Paul would also drop Leah off and pick her up at school.

"Today you must not be naughty at school. So that your teacher doesn't call me again. Understand?" Paul counselled Leah before the girl went to school.

Leah nodded. "Yes. I understand."

"Good. Good girl!" Paul praised her.

"Paul!" called Leah before entering the school bus. Paul turned around.

"Are you my dad?" Leah asked. "My friends often tell me about their dads at school. So, I'm telling them about you."

Paul smiled in response to the little girl's innocence. "Think of it that way. I'll be your mum and dad at the same time."

"I don't want you to be them," Leah refused.

"Why, don't you like me?" Paul wondered. He didn't understand what Leah was saying.

"It's precisely because I like you that I want to be your wife," Leah said, joking.

"Be my wife?" Paul laughed.

Leah kissed Paul's cheek hastily. Then she waved goodbye to him as the school bus approached. She also said goodbye to Paul.

"See you soon, Leah," Paul replied quietly.

It had been ten years since Paul had taken care of the little girl. It doesn't feel like time has flown by. Leah transformed into a beautiful girl despite her young age.

"Is Leah acting up again at school? Until you have to advise her every time she goes to school," Magdalena asked. She was the owner of the house and the one who rented out the pavilion where Paul and Leah lived.

"It's not like that. I'm just reminding her to be good at school," Paul explains.

"She's not an ordinary person like her friends at school. Once she uses her powers, they could all die at her hands," Magdalena warned Paul.

Paul was surprised to hear Magdalena's words. "Do you know the truth?" Paul asked.

"Of course. Ever since you came to my house, I've known everything. You are a werewolf and Leah, she is ...." Magdalena's sentence suddenly stopped for a moment.

"What do you think of Leah?" Paul was curious.

"Clearly, Leah is half human and half wolf," Magdalena said. "If her strength increases, she could become an immortal in this world."

Paul was even more surprised at Magdalena's perception. Since when had the old woman been able to guess and foresee Leah's future? Paul was very curious now.

"Go to work! Don't you have to pay me for your place and Leah's?" Magdalena encouraged Paul.

"Okay, I'll go. Thank you for having me and Leah here," said Paul. He hurried away.

Leah knocked on Paul's bedroom door in the evening. The weather that night was terrible. Lightning rain and strong winds. Leah was frightened and asked Paul to accompany her to bed tonight.

"Paul, I'm so scared," Leah said with teary eyes. She would have cried if Paul hadn't come to her immediately.

"Don't be afraid, Leah! I'm right beside you," Paul soothed Leah's heart. He patted Leah's back as she hugged him.

"That dog noise is bothering me. It's so noisy!" Leah complained.

"Don't you like the sound of that dog?" Paul confirmed. "I'll tell them to shut up if that's what you want."

"Can you make them quiet?" Leah was not convinced by Paul's words.

"Of course I can. Don't you believe me?" Paul assured her. Leah shook her head.

"Wait a minute here! I'll quiet the dogs first."

Leah's hand prevented Paul from leaving. "No! Don't leave me, just leave them out there. The important thing is that you're here with me."

"Are you sure? Didn't you say that you were bothered by their barking?"

"It's okay. They'll shut up eventually. I just want you to stay with me tonight and read me a storybook," Leah pleaded sulkily.

"Do you want me to tell you a story again?"

Leah nodded firmly. There was no reason for Paul to refuse the little girl's request. He took the storybook and lay down beside Leah who was about to sleep in his bed.

Within a few minutes, Leah was asleep in Paul's arms. The girl felt comfortable and safe next to her bodyguard.

Leah is a teenager. She was now 17 years old. She was getting prettier and there were a lot of boys at school chasing her. Early in the morning, Paul drove Leah to high school. He also said he would pick her up on time after school. However, this time Leah refused.

"I have group work with my friends, so you don't have to pick me up," Leah told Paul.

"Group work? Why so sudden?" Paul didn't just take the teenage girl's word for it.

"It's not sudden. It's just that I'm telling you now before I forget," Leah reasoned.

Leah hurriedly got out of Paul's car. She hurried away because her friends were waiting for her at the school gate. Paul became very worried about Leah. He looked at Leah's friends, one by one.

"Hi baby! We're going on a date this afternoon, right?" One of Leah's boy friends confirmed it.

"Yes. I asked my guardian for permission," Leah replied. She looked very happy at that moment.

"A date? Does Leah have a boyfriend?" Paul was getting suspicious. He had obviously overheard the conversation between Leah and her boyfriend. His gut instinct told him so.
