TALIA As soon as Blake knew Jasmine’s whereabouts, Alex and I immediately jumped into his new car to head north to Quebec. I ran across the border in my wolf form and waited for Alex to pick me up at what was now becoming a landmark. I planned to get all my citizenships in order eventually, but it was still a work in progress. “Maybe you should drive the rest of the way, eh?” Alex laughed when we were about an hour out from our destination. “With my terrible luck, I’m not sure if we’ll make it, even being so close now. Especially with all these Quebecois drivers.” “I don’t know how to drive,” I replied. “What? You can’t be serious.” He glanced at me, his eyebrows raised. “I am serious. I never learned.” “Well, damn, there’s something else I need to put on my list of things to teach you.” He took my hand in his. His hand was fully healed now, although the incident had left scars around each of his fingers, like pinkish-red rings. The doctor believed the scars remained because his
JASMINE When I woke, I found myself on cold, hard concrete. I groaned, my neck in pain from being in an awkward position while I slept. I tried to roll over and move my hands, only to find them very heavy. I could feel metal scraping against skin as I struggled to move my arms a little. I opened my eyes, looking around. At first, I couldn’t process where I was, none of it made sense. I’d never seen surroundings like these before—a small room with a cold, hard concrete floor, and a barred metal door. A barred door like ones used for jail cells. I gasped as I realized that’s exactly where I was—inside a jail cell. I lifted my head to get a better look, moving it to find there was a toilet in the corner behind me—one that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, possibly years. It didn’t even have a seat, and the whole perimeter of it was stained yellow. I sat up, using my core strength to lift myself, and realized with horror that I had to pee. I would have no choice but to use that
TALIA Alex and I arrived a mile outside the pack border at a quarter past two. As soon as we parked, Blake, Luke, and another man who looked to be in about his mid to late thirties slid into the back of our car. “Adalwolf, you’ve met Alpha Antoine?” Blake introduced the man currently seated in the middle. “We may have met briefly in the past. Alpha Alexander.” Alex turned to face the man and shook his hand. “And this is my future luna, Talia.” He gestured toward me. I put out my hand to shake his. “Pleasure, Talia,” he said in a French Canadian accent. The sound of a text message receipt dinged, and Alpha Antoine pulled out his phone. After a moment, he spoke. “It’s Alpha Édouard. He is asking where my sister Sofia is and says that we didn’t meet our end up the deal. What deal is this?” Blake groaned and replied, “We bluffed and said we would trade Sofia for Jasmine. With no intention to do so of course. We were hoping he would tell us where to meet for the trade. But he was too
TALIA I was so horny, it was practically painful. I was ready to fuck the first dick that came along. Okay, not really, but every part of my body was hot and aroused. My nipples were erect, sensitive against the fabric of my bra as it brushed against them. My thighs were practically like jelly, tingling and desperate for someone to glide against them. And I could feel how swollen I was between my legs. Every thought consisted of Alex’s muscular, naked body, and what I wanted him to be doing with it at that moment. I couldn’t even concentrate on what I was actually supposed to be doing. “I feel like I’m now Blake’s official heat babysitter.” Jack sighed. “What does that mean?” Kyle asked, tilting his head at him. He smirked and said, “Better that I keep my mouth shut.” “Goddess, I remember when Emma used to go into heat. She was like an animal.” Kyle chuckled. “We were both living at home at the time, so we actually snuck into the high school one night and had sex on the gym mats.
JASMINE Not even an hour after I killed Charlie, a man in either his later thirties or early forties with the sleeves of his shirt rolled up, tattoos covering his forearms, approached my cell. His distinct gray eyes scanned the entirety of the small room I was in. I could instantly sense this man was evil, a shiver traveling up my spine. My instincts were in full overdrive, my inner wolf howling with fear. I stood up, panicked. “Hmm, not such a weak mate, I see.” The man spoke with a French accent, scanning the room, smiling evilly at me. I stared at him, wondering what he was planning to do to me. After some time, he said, “I can’t decide if I should cut you up or fuck you. Why not both?” He pulled out a switchblade, exposing the knife to me. I began hyperventilating and the world was spinning around me as fur sprouted up my arms and legs. I was having a panic attack. As my body tried to force me to shift, agonizing pain shot up my arms. I cried in agony from the metal cutting into
TALIA After I completed my portion of the mission, I went back into Alex’s car, and Jack and Kyle followed me inside while some of Alex’s men stood guard outside of it. I couldn’t lie, my heat was unbearable. The longer I went without petting my cat, the more painful it became. Tears were brimming my eyes as I squirmed in my seat. “Blake owes me big time,” Jack said from the back. “Goddess, this is awkward,” Kyle replied. “I can’t help it,” I cried out. “Can’t you just go outside?” “Can’t, we have two alphas on our asses now,” Kyle replied. I whimpered in response. I glanced in the rearview mirror as he turned to Jack and said, “I mean, maybe we should, Jack. Let her have some privacy.” “The last thing we need is to give her some privacy and then someone from Bois Sombre sweeps in when none of us are looking. Bad idea, Kyle.” “Just a thought, bro.” He frowned. “Consider yourself lucky. I had to go through over four hours of this before.” I grumbled, reminded of the last time,
JASMINE “All set, our flight’s been rebooked for tomorrow night.” Blake smiled as he plopped down on the hotel room bed—the one we were supposed to have slept in the previous night until, well, things didn’t exactly go as planned. He stared into my eyes. “Your face is looking much better now. My only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to torture that motherfucker for what he did to you.” “It’s okay. It’s over now,” I whispered to Blake, wanting to forget what happened. “You were amazing today, a true luna.” He brushed his hand through my hair. “I can’t believe you ever even doubted yourself.” I sighed. “I’ve actually realized a lot of things in the past week,” I replied. “Really? Like what?” “Like I’m excited that I’ll be able to use my influence as luna to make changes in the pack.” “What kind of changes?” “Like Tyler and Jack took me to a secret pack LGBTQ+ meeting. And everyone came up with great ideas for how they could feel more welcomed in our pack. I want to help them.
*** 2 weeks later *** TALIA “Good morning, beautiful.” Alex placed a mug of coffee onto the bedside table early one morning and then instantly slid into the bed next to me. The connection between us was much stronger now that we had marked each other. It was almost as if we had become one, our emotions connected when we were near each other, his running beside my own. At that moment, Alex felt both content and worried. I was sure that the worry was for his mother. “Is your mom okay today?” I asked, brushing my hand through his hair. “She seems okay today. I brought her her morning tea and toast, and she seemed happy with the small gesture.” “You’re such a good son.” I kissed him on the forehead. He grabbed me, pulling me tight against his body, kissing me deeply. “Ow!” I pulled away. “What’s wrong?” he asked, furrowing his brows. “My boobs are just really sore.” I rubbed one of them. “Does that happen often?” he asked. “No, not really. Sometimes when I get my period, but I do
