"It doesn't have to stay." I speak, looking away from the silver irises, at the tray of leftover food that Carmen had just forgotten on top of the dresser. Which is odd, considering how much she insisted with the other nurse to do this task.

"I insist on taking you home." Edward says, smiling without showing his teeth, but still unable to hide his discomfort. I don't understand what he's doing here after everything we've been through, looking at him makes me think of Carlota and I don't want that. Deep down, I know he's trying to make up for what his sister did, and I even understand his insistence, but I'd rather be alone.

Why insist when it's obvious that my presence also bothers you in some way?

I reflect.
