"Once they were in Matara, he would have to figure out a way to leave her behind and return to the palace," Ragnor thought and dropped more kisses on the top of Clara's head.Ragnor was sitting on the bed with his back resting on the headboard. In his arms, he was holding Clara who had curled herself up like a kitten. He stroked her back tenderly lost in his thought.Feeling safe in his arms, Clara's breathing became even and she drifted off to sleep out of exhaustion. "A war might be upon us soon and yet my people are unaware of anything," Ragnor thought, "If my blood ran through Siku's new army, clearly the soldiers here would be no match for them, they would only slow them down," he continued in his thoughts. Ragnor's gaze shifted to Clara who moved slightly and nestled into his arms. "She would endanger herself to protect him when that day comes upon them," Ragnor thought, playing with a strand of Clara's hair. Ragnor carefully laid Clara down on the bed properly not waking her
"You need light to see in the dark. Clara is your light," George added and Ragnor frowned deeply. "You are the moon, she is the stars. You are the sun, she remains your sky. Inseparable," George added."Trust me, you will know it when it happens," George said. George patted Ragnor on the shoulder and exited the room leaving Ragnor with his thoughts. Ragnor stayed in his father's study for a while and decided to leave and join the others. He walked towards the door and opened it but was surprised to see his father waiting in front of the door for him. "Arrrh! Finally, coming out of the study? Take a walk with me," George said with a smile on his face and headed for the stairs leading to the living room floor. Ragnor nodded and followed his father wondering why he was waiting for him behind the closed door."And where are you two going," Nyota questioned entering the living room with Clara trailing behind her."Taking a walk in the garden," George replied."Okay, don't stay out too l
Ragnor checked the caller ID and answered it immediately. "Sir, the governor called, he would like a meeting with you. He is ready now," the butler informed him and Ragnor smiled. Ragnor gave it a thought, he was not sure when Siku would be upon them and this alliance with the government was essential. If it goes well, he will have a place for his people. "Set the meeting time for 6 p.m., I will be there," Ragnor replied and ended the call. "What was that about?" George asked. "Our kind had lived in isolation for many years. The human Civilization City at the Immortal City was to test the ability of humans and non-humans to co-exist. It's not a farm. During my stepfather's reign, it was a blood farm for the vampires. Today under my leadership I have materialized that dream. We have vampires and humans working together in the palace and even though we maintained the level, some vampires live in the human Civilization City. We heal their diseases and they supply us with our needs.
It was 11 p.m. when Ragnor arrived at Matara and Clara was already asleep hugging Ragnor's pillow. Ragnor smiled when he entered the room. He went to the bathroom and after taking his shower, climbed into bed. He slowly pulled the pillow from Clara's hand, placed it behind his head and pulled Clara into his embrace. Still in her sleep, Clara wrapped her arms around him and he kissed the top of her head before closing his eyes. Ragnor had a smile on his face while holding Clara, in his arms with his eyes closed. He was happy about the alliance with the government, his dream is now a reality. The people would have a safe place to hide by the time Siku and his army arrived in the city. Clara opened her eyes when the sun's rays hit her face. She pulled the sheets to cover her face but the sheet was pulled away. "Arise and shine," came Nyota's voice. "Hmm, what time is it?" Clara asked in a sleepy voice and yawned. "It's time to wake up," Nyota replied. "Come on, get up and go freshen
"I may be human and not strong enough but I will fight for my children's future and it will be worth it even if I die doing so. I know I will be securing my children's home," the human said. One after the other, both humans and vampires stood as a sign of their determination and decision to protect their city for future generations. Clara was sitting watching as everyone was now standing on their feet. Ragnor raised his hand asking them to sit down. "Thank you all for your loyalty but as your king, I can't watch you die on my behalf. This is not a kingdom war but a personal war. I will train you to defend yourself that is for those who will still insist on staying behind. We will be ready when they arrive, as starting today, we will be preparing ourselves for war," Ragnor announced and they all agreed. Ragnor dismissed them but his eyes were fast to have seen Andrews walking out of the hall among the people. He used his vampire speed to get to him. He did notice something different
Ragnor had successfully signed the alliance contract with the governor based on which he was able to offer an alternative safe place for his people. In his communication, he had also disclosed to the people the war that was coming upon them with Siku as the lead. As much as he requested the people to move to safety, they all decided to fight with him. Andrews apologizes for his past mistakes and as proof of his loyalty and the fact that he has changed, he offers to join Ragnor in the fight against Siku. As part of preparation for the upcoming war, Clara suggested they build a protective wall and Ragnor seeing this as a good idea, quickly put some people to task and they built three walls surrounding the entire city. They did not just build a wall but the people were equally trained in combat including Clara. George and Nyota arrived at the immortal city to find a city completely protected by a triple wall. They were very happy with what the people had done to defend the city. Ragnor w
Ragnor returned to his human form and carried Clara to his room and George carried Nyota to her room. Both men spent the night cuddling their women. While they slept the vampire lords discussed the outcome of their attack in their meeting room. "Truly this confirms Ragnor is the reincarnation of the hybrid vampire we fought many years ago," said the vampire lord one. "In that case, we don't need him as king any more. He did rule better than his father or Maddox but we can't take chances because of who he is. We are sitting on a time bomb if we do nothing," said the vampire lord two. "I don't understand, I thought it was the human girl you didn't want around," asked the vampire lord three. "Yes, we didn't want the human girl around, because we didn't want a human to rule us as a queen. He did something about it. He maintained the position of one of our own as queen," explained the vampire lord two. "So now why do we want to kill him? Our city has known peace since he became king,"
"Yes my queen, but you need to rest, it's 5 a.m.," Ragnor said still lying in the same position.Clara nodded and planted a kiss on Ragnor's forehead, in between his brow, the tip of his nose, and his cheeks but before she could get to his lips, he flipped her over and was now on top of her, covering her with half of his body. He stared down at her and she smiled."You are very stubborn sometimes, you know that?" Ragnor said still staring at her and she smiled. It was obvious she was tired. He shook his head and lay back down. Clara turned and rested her head on Ragnor's chest and wrapped his arms around her. "Get some rest, my love. Sunrise comes with unexpected events and we will need our energy," Ragnor said and Clara nodded closing her eyes to sleep. It was 5. 50 a.m., when Ragnor sensed something strange. His sharp sense picked up something bad about to happen. He cast a protective spell over Clara and got out of bed immediately to find out what it was. He stepped out of the pa
