"What do we do about Zoe?" I say, and he looks at me.

"She's your -- was your bestfriend, you make the decision."

"She can stay here? I just really want to keep an eye on her." I say, but frown when he says nothing.

"Or, I could get her a place in French Quarter, or out of town, but I'll just have to be there most of the times, might stay with her."

"Easy baby, she can stay here." He says, hands on my cheek and I nod, relieved.

"Why do you want her to stay here? I would think you'd hate her, but here you are, avocating for her presence." He says casually

I smile, wondering if I should tell him the truth, or just lie as usual, I go with the former.

"When I was with the Ancestors, they predicted her death, she would have died in Romania, because Cyprus was finding ways to kill her, to make it look like an accident."

"He used her? Wow, and he wanted to dispose of her, when she is no longer useful. More reasons to make him suffer."

I smile at his response, leaning fu
