Chapter one- The Encounter

It rained cats and dogs last night. Every where was muddy and messy. It was also Ariande's interview today. She put on her white suit when she rented from Bella,her friend and tailor.

"Wow! Arian,you look beautiful in that suit." Her sister, Georgina, complimented.

"I never knew that you would ever wear this kind of outfit. It brings out your curves. You look hot. I think you want to seduce your interviewer." Her other sister,Sydney, also commented.

"Shut up you two. Sydney,you shouldn't be saying such things,ok?"Ariande caution Sydney,who is the youngest of the three. "Gina, take this money. Get something for you two to eat. I'm leaving now. I don't want to be late. Bye" 

"Byee!" The girls chorused.

Ariande left the house and entered into the streets. All the males were murmuring. They never expected Ariande to were this outfit. She was always on ripped baggy jeans and big polos, sometimes singlets.

They were very surprised. A man summoned courage to woo her. Ariande was a woman that never gave attention to men. Anyone that messed with her got beaten.

"Hi, Ariande."He said and she stopped. She looked at him without saying anything. "You look hot today."

"Are you done?"She asked sarcastically"Get out of my way, I have other important things to do." She said giving him a deadly glare and left.

She could hear othet men laughing over his failure.

She prayed in her hearts for her interview to be accepted. She really needed money to pay for her suit and to put food on the table.

As she was thinking, a car splashed muddy water on her. Instantly, she picked up a stone and threw it on the car. The glass shattered into pieces.

Immediately, the car stopped.

Ariande didn't run away. She stood with her arms folded. A tall well-built man alighted from the car. He took long strides towards Ariande.

"What was that for?"He yelled. "Why did you damage my car? Do you know how much it costs,you bitch?" He queried further.

"Hold your tongue mister! Don't you dare yell at me or call me names. Take a good look at me. You splashed this muddy water on me and you intend to run away." She began to raise her voice. "Thank you stars that I am in a good mood or else..." She was interrupted.

"Or else what?"

"I would have beaten you up. Just because you are rich doesn't give you the right to step on others. You here me?"

"You are going to pay for the car."

"Over my dead body." She said and turned to leave. But he gripped her hand and held her neck.

"You don't walk out of me,bitch." Ariande gave him a tight slap. He held his burning face.

"You don't call me names" She said and left.

"You will pay for this, I promise you." He also said and left

Ariande got home with a really bad mood. She entered her room and flinged her bags.

She lay on the bed and started crying. Where would she start from in paying her debts?. What would Gina and Sydney eat?. How would their school fees be paid?

All these thoughts ran through her mind as more tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"Sis" Ariande heard Gina called out her name. She dried her tears.

"Yes"

"Have you returned from the interview?" Gina asked.

"Ehm, no, I didn't go again."

"Why?!" Gina exclaimed.

"What happened to this amazing dress?" Sydney asked.

"I'll explain everything." Ariande said as her sisters took their seats beside her.

"A car splashed muddy water on me and he didn't stop to apologise. So... I threw a stone on his car. He was furious."

"Oh my word! What have you done? He must be so furious now and I am sure that he won't let this matter slide. I Know that rich guys of these days are arrogant." Gina's words weren't consoling Ariande at all. Sydney hit Gina signalling her to stop talking.

"Sis, we know that you have a bad temper but all of these is the man's fault because he didn't drive carefully. He acted as if he owned the road." Sydney said.

" I will go out to search for job because there's no food at home for us to eat tonight." Ariande said and went upstairs to freshen up. Soon, she came down , took her bag and left the house.

Finding a job was difficult. Ariande walked many miles, yet, there were no vacancy. She walked to a store to get water.

"Ma'am, give me a bottle of water. Here's your money." Ariande handed the money over to the lady. The storekeeper went in to get the bottled water.

"Thanks." Ariande appreciated and left the store.

Ariande saw a mansion. The mansion was fabulous. Its exterior design was splendid. Soon, her eyes darted towards a bill board.

It reads:

A maid is urgently needed. Apply in person.

Ariande immediately knocked on the huge gate. A man in his middle forties opened the gate.

 "What can I do for you ma'am?"

"I came to apply for a job here."

"Oh, come in, I'll show you."

"Thanks." She walked in as the gate man closed the door.

"This way ma'am" He said pointing towards the mighty door that lead to the mansion.

"Ehm,sir please address me by my name, Ariande."

"Ok" They walked into the mansion.

"Who is this lady?" A man asked the gate man.

" Sir, she's here to apply for a job."

"Ok you can leave now" The gate man left immediately. "Your name...?" He asked her.

"Ariande,sir."

"I am John. The butler of this mansion. You are here at the right moment. Do you make coffee?" He asked hastily..

"Yes"

"Good" John pulled Ariande to the kitchen.

"Make the coffee immediately. The boss is running out of patience. His former coffee maker is not available."
