Chapter 1

Kayla's Pov:

So let me tell you a little about myself:

For as long as I can remember I have been alone, it has its benefits but mostly it can be so dam lonely, do not get me wrong I love living in the woods I feel so free, and  I'm not one of them horses that are so proud of them self although I know I am something worth looking at, but Sadler that is not a good thing as it mean I attract so much attention to myself which I do not need or want.

I do sometimes miss being with other horses as I often see wild mustangs passing by, but life goes by and as soon as I turn 17, I am meant to find my mate!

I have no idea on what to do the only other shifters around here are werewolves, the pack 'midnight shadows pack' this pack is very well known which is why I try to keep my distance so they cannot sense me.

I do have a crush on the alpha to be though, but I have never met him only seen him when he comes out to hunt. I have heard that he is looking for a horse though, but I could not think of my freedom been taken away from me, so I cannot get caught, it is hard enough hiding myself from humans let alone having to hide my scent from these wolves as well, it would drain me, and I may even lose my human half for good.

I may spend a lot of my time in my horse form, but I do change back at least once every few days to keep my human half alive, if I do not, I could end up losing myself for good, and that is something I am not prepared to do, and neither is blue.

As I was drinking from a nearby creek, I heard a twig snap behind me, so I turned around to come face to face with the soon to be alpha. He looked into my eyes, and I bet all he could see was a wild spirit but deep down I was frightened! I mean come on I am only 4 in horse years.

As he tried to strip me, I felt the Sparks and by the shocked look on his face so did he. It him the soon to be alpha Seth is my mate, I may not be old enough to know who my mate is by looking at them, but I assume you do not just feel sparks with everyone, and on that note, I turned and galloped away leaving only dust behind me.

I ran for hours not knowing where I was going until I was brought to the ground by a massive white werewolf! I could tell he was a male as he shifted back to human form, he tried to touch me, and I have no idea why these werewolves always think they can touch me, but I reared up and hit him on my way back down to give myself some time to get away and he was out cold. So I galloped away in the same direction I had come from to get away from this crazy white wolf before he woke up, he would be pissed after what I had done, I cannot let them know about me, they cannot know my secret, I must get away from this territory for good they are getting too close I do not know why I came here in the first place, I need to find myself a wild herd to join so I do not look suspicious.

My only problem is alpha Seth has seen me in my horse form and when he tried to catch me, I assume he want my horse for himself most people/wolves tend to want to try catch her.

Seth's POV

I am the soon to be alpha of the midnight shadows pack I am 19 years old, and I am one of the most feared alphas in the world. I have not found my mate yet but then again not fully interested in finding her, will just mean that I have a weakness to all the other pack to use against me.

I have not been the alpha long; I have taken over from my farther as he and my mother want to be able to go travel the world, I have found my mate. They do not want to leave me on my own to run the pack as the responsibilities can be too much for one person to bare alone, but they do not realise that it really does not bother me. I have nothing else in my life other than my pack, do not get me wrong I have she wolves throwing themselves at me wanting to be alpha female of the pack, but that role is for my mate and my mate alone.

I have heard rumours that there is another shifter hanging around my pack territory, and I need to go check it out, I have no idea what shifter it is or anything really, I know is she is a female, but a rouge is a rouge no matter female or male and we do not tolerate rouges in my pack land.

As I went looking for the intruder, I come across a stunning chestnut filly drinking water from one out creek. She was one of the most stunning creatures I have ever laid my eyes on. I have been looking at getting myself a nee horse to bring on to have something for myself to do to take some away from alpha deities, she looks perfect, I bet she will be a right handful, but she is a challenge I am wanting to take on.

As I am heading towards her I make the mistake of sanding on a trying I had not seen from under my foot which was more than enough noise to give me away, the horse slowly lifts her head up and looks at me, she is looks terrified which makes me wonder what she been through to be out here all alone and without a herd of her own or if she belongs to someone and she has just escaped.

I need to try and catch her to start with before I can make any sort of decision with what I am going to do with her, I hope she does not belong to anyone so I can keep her for myself. As I take a step towards her I look into her eyes and my wolf makes me freeze in my tracks, the first thing he says, well growls out is “MATE” but how can she be my mate, she is a horse and from what I can remember there wasn’t that many horse shifter left in the world they are a dying breed, So wouldn’t they pair them with one of their own kind to try keep the race alone? I have no idea but one thing I do know if that this filly is my mate which also means she is a shifter herself, but if she is not of age, she will have no idea that I am her mate, I need to catch her and ask her to shift for me.

As soon as I go to touch her, I can feel the sparks fly up my arm in an effective way, but I am guessing she did as well as the next thing I know I am on the floor and my pretty little mate is galloping away from me.

Kayla's POV

Not so long after I got away from the white wolf, did I realise he was up and after me. I pushed myself to go faster I would need to either find somewhere to hide or I will end up running into Seth going back the way I came, and I honestly do not know how I feel about that. I like the guy do not get me wrong I mean who would not but that does not mean I want him anywhere near me the mate pull o my works one way till I turn 17 and can feel it properly, but I would rather deal with him that this nut job any day.

Just as I thought, Seth came into view. He was looking at some prints on the ground I am assuming are mine so he could track me down. There is nothing else I can do but run towards him and hope he can protect me from this crazy wolf, so that is what I do, I hide behind Seth with only makes him grow even more confused than he already was. Which was not hard. But not long after the white wolf come into view all pissed and wanting revenge.

After all this there was really no point in even trying to run again since I was in so m uh pain with my injuries from the crazy white wolf, I just let Seth put a rope around my neck and lead me off to wherever the hell it is he is taking me. I need to give myself some time to fully heal, but if he knows I am him mate then he will know I am a shifter, and that scares the shit out of me.
