She glanced at Preston, who averted his eyes. Yet Luna sensed that there was something concealed behind his prior gaze.

Luna covered her mouth, feigning drowsiness.

“I shall retire for a nap. You should rest as well.”

As Luna prepared to depart, Preston took a step forward, blocking her path. Luna nearly collided with him, bringing them into uncomfortably close proximity.

Luna’s heartbeat quickened. She inquired, “What are you doing?”

“You possess the key to my room, so why don’t you sleep there?” Preston lowered his gaze, fixating on Luna’s head. His magnetic voice wafted above Luna's head, leaving her tingling with a jolt of electricity.

“I am injured. It would be inconvenient for me to rest on the sofa. I require a proper respect.

“Is that the sole reason?” Observing Preston’s probing eyes, Luna nodded. “Indeed, that is the reason.”
