So, it was you?

Icarus was standing beside the bed with a solemn face which was illuminated by the pale lamp light in the dark room. Kiara touched her face to make sure it was alright, she was so scared that she could hear her heart drumming within her chest. She could help but scream at him, "What the fuck were you doing here?"

"This is my house." Icarus said before casually removing her coat. Kiara hugged her knees and her hand slipped under the pillow to grab the knife, "What do you think you are doing?"

Icarus didn't answer as he retreated into the bathroom, a few minutes later the girl could hear the sound of a shower gushing inside. Kiara's eyes flared open, was he going to stay for the night?

She was still in a daze when the man came out in his pyjamas, towel drying his freshly showered hairs. He threw a glance at Kiara who was watching him with hateful eyes before laying down on his side of the bed.

Icarus's bed was king sized and there was space enough to fit two more people between them but the girl could still feel his warmth around her. The fresh scent of his shower along with a hint of his cologne was nauseating. Seeing the man asleep next to her, Kiara was in no mood of sleeping anymore so she took out her phone and started to scroll through her social media to kill time.

Few minutes into scrolling and an explosive news hit her screens, it turns out 'Boss Lady', the movie which she had auditioned for, had already released their main casting list.

Kiara couldn't help but cast a wry smile, she had just auditioned in the morning and the final list was already out. Every team needs at least three days to finalise everything unless it was all preplanned and the auditions were just for show as Daphne had said.

The star stubbed casting featured Tyler Brown and Mallory Malone as the lead and of course, Daphne as the second female lead. She was paired with Cole Steves, who was another popular actor.

A movie which was full of A- listing actors was bound to attract the attention of the crowd and just in a few minutes of the news release, the post was filled with thousands and thousands of comments from fans who seemed thrilled for the movie. The post garnered enough attention that it was already a trending topic in every social media platform. Daphne was a rookie but had acted in several movies before so she had a decent amount of fans supporting her in the comments as well. Kiara scrolled through the comments with a stale face when she received a bunch of messages from Sophia.

@sophiaaaa_: Did you see the news?

@kiarasmith07: I did.

@sophiaaaa_: This is absurd, the auditions were just held in the morning.

@kiarasmith07: Is there any use talking about this anymore? Let's move on and focus on the future.

@sophiaaaa_: Girl, you are not understanding the seriousness of this, are you? You are well aware of the fact that it's been a year since we are trying to get a breakthrough. You are not going anymore, if we don't grab you a major role soon, you will have to give up on your dream of becoming an actress.

Kiara fell silent for a while after seeing that text from Sophia. As much as she hated it, what her manager said was true. She was already 23 and married, even though she was not that old, younger actresses will be easily chosen over her. She had been trying her luck for a whole year now, if she doesn't make it now she won't ever be able to become an actress and will have to give up on her dream.

The girl sighed, she was worried about it as well but she could not show it and make herself look weak. She assured Sophia that she would definitely get her breakthrough within the end of the year.

She checked the time and it was only one of midnight, Kiara threw a glance at the man sleeping next to her. She could look at their pale reflection in the window mirror; since he was asleep, Kiara dared to look straight at him. He looked so decent and peaceful sleeping there like that, he had the looks that would make any girl crazy for him.

Kiara remembered that he was the school heartthrob, there was no girl in the entire campus who didn't have a crush on him. Since he was the son of the Alpha, common people were not allowed around him and because of this limited access in public areas, kids from different schools would come to their school during lunch breaks to just look at him.

Sadly, he won't ever look at any of those fangirls and admirers buzzing around him. No one knew why, some even assumed that he was gay and wasn't interested in women.

Kiara remembered asking him once why he wasn't dating anyone to which he replied that he replied that he liked a girl. No matter how much she asked him, he never told her who she was so she asked Darren about it. The latter told her that he must be talking about his 'mate'. Until that day, Kiara wasn't aware who a mate was and what it meant for wolves. She was quite fascinated by this theory!

The girl wondered if he ever met his mate, the chances seemed to be low because if he had found one, he wouldn't have married her.

Sitting there was quite boring and despite being sleepy, the girl could not make herself close her eyes with him being around. Her anxiety was rising with every time he moved.

Kiara's stomach started to rumble with hunger; she made sure she was very careful as she stepped off the bed and walked out of the bedroom. The girl found herself some snacks which she decided to devour while being on the sofa.

Midway through her snacking, Kiara's phone chimed indicating an incoming message. She opened her phone to see that it was none other than Daphne, her short message read- How do you feel now?

Kiara rolled her eyes and kept aside her phone, she was in a bad mood already and didn't want to indulge in a fight with her. She thought that the actress would give up since she hadn't replied but a few more series of texts came through.

'The production is huge, I will be enlisted amongst the top actors once this movie is released. What about you? Had any luck landing into a role?'

Kiara could not take it anymore and she typed back, "Daphne, what is your problem with me? What did I do to you that you hate me so much?"

Daphne replied almost instantly as if she was waiting for the conversation to start, she said, "Nothing, I just hate you to death!"

"Do you remember once the instructor back in our academy told us that you will be more successful than me. I wonder what his reaction would be if he saw the reality today."

Kiara replied, "Is it all because of that stupid competition between us which wasn't even created by me? Okay, since you are now such an established actress and more successful than me, why don't you just call it quits and let me live my own life?"

"No." Daphne replied, "I won't ever let you step into showbiz and become an actress. I will either steal your role or make them reject you."

"With me around, you will never be able to debut!"

Kiara was seriously irritated now seeing how things had escalated; she had noticed that every role that Daphne was casted on was the one she had auditioned for. It all seemed like a big coincidence to her but little did she know that it was done purposefully by her.

Kiara sat up straight and texted out, "So, it was you?"

"Yes." Daphne replied without a hitch making Kiara boil with anger. "Well in that case, screw you!" The girl texted out before tossing away her phone and falling back on the bed. She had lost all her appetite by now and had various kinds of thoughts swirling in her head. She used to believe that she was indeed unlucky to have not got a role yet, if things were to go on like this she was afraid she won't ever be able to make her dream come true.

She picked up her phone and took screenshots of the whole conversation to send it to Sophia. The latter seemed to have slept as she didn't respond to the texts. Kiara asked her to call her back immediately after seeing it.

Kiara was waiting for her to call back and ended up sleeping halfway through.

A few minutes after she fell asleep, Icarus emerged out of his room and looked at the girl sleeping on the couch. He didn't make much of a reaction as he came downstairs with a blanket in his hand. He slowly made his way to her and stared at her for a while before covering her with the blanket; she looked really small and petite sleeping there in her white pyjamas. He adjusted the temperature of the air conditioning in the room to make it more comfortable for her.

Icarus was afraid that he would end up startling her again and decided to go back upstairs. He just turned on his heels when he saw her phone on the table ring; he immediately grabbed it and silenced the call. Kiara seemed to have been disturbed by the call as she furrowed her eyebrows but didn't wake up, instead she turned to the other side and slept.

The man looked at the phone to see that it was Sophia calling her. The call was hung up after a few rings, Icarus was about to place the phone back when he saw Sophia's text popping up- Girl, I think we should take Icarus's help!

Icarus's eyebrows squinted when he saw his name being mentioned in the chat. He looked at the girl to make sure that she was asleep before clicking open her chat.
