Chapter 1: Meeting Chaze

Sandra:

Everything changed when I met this young man named Chaze. My daily routine became spontaneous almost every day. After work I would meet him at the cafe down the street from my building. At first I felt a little odd sharing a table and coffee with a stranger, let alone another man. I was worried that my fiance would be upset. After several days of coming home late I finally told him what I was doing after work. To my surprise he didn’t mind. I may have bent the truth a little and told him I was meeting up with him and a few friends from work. To turn this lie into a truth I started to invite some work friends to these meetings and suggested he do the same. Soon it became an everyday thing. We would go on walks, hang out at different lounges close by, and other small adventures that would leave me coming home late. I always put a time limit on these outings. After all, I do love my fiance.

There was something about Chaze that drew me to him though. I don’t know if it's the dark red hair, his slim and built frame, his cool yet proper stance, or his overwhelming sense of humor. My friends think it's because he is a ‘somewhat-famous’ rockstar. He has his own band that is pretty well known around my area. I found that out when a bunch of fangirls surrounded us and threw themselves at him. I did something unexpected when they closed in on us. I clutched his arm to my body and glared. I don’t know if he noticed but he didn’t object to my action. Just thinking makes my heart race and my mind buzz. I don’t know why I did it. Apparently doing so got me even more tangled up in his affairs. One of the girls took a picture and started a wildfire of rumors about us. The main caption for most of the pictures said ‘Hussy trying to steal our Chaze.’ I wasn’t aware of such images until Benson, my fiance, showed them to me. He did it to poke fun at me. Once again, I was completely shocked he didn’t take it the wrong way.

It turns out Benson is a fan of the Red Moon Melody, the name of Chaze’s band, also known as RMM. That picture was taken several days ago. I thought that was the reason Chaze wanted to meet with me, alone. I was about to find out that things were going to change even more.

“Sandra! Glad you’re early!” I heard his voice and nearly caught a whip lash to look at him. It touched my soul as he continued to greet me with his usual short pun. I chuckled at his carefree loudness. He did know how to turn heads his way. He didn’t care though, his focus was always fixed on my eyes. Sometimes I wished Benson looked at me this way as much as Chaze did.

“Anyways, I have something to tell you. I'm going to say it, let you think about it, maybe wink at you, blow a kiss, laugh, then become serious. All in that order. But I mean what I’m going to say… Are you ready?” I was smiling at his words. He always proclaimed the actions he was going to do before actually doing them. Then it hit me. He was preparing to say something that he truly meant. It's not to say that he has never done this before. He always means what he says. However, this time he was bracing me for it. I cleared my throat and nodded as my hands began to sweat ever so slightly. I scrunched my skirt under the table we were seating at. His hiatus mixed with his smile was driving me mad. He was just staring with that cool bad-boy expression. My heart couldn’t take it anymore. Luckily, he finally spoke, and his words stopped my heart.

“You are mine, Sandra… You’re my soul mate…” He followed this with a wink, blew a kiss, chuckled, then dropped his smile and looked at me with piercing eyes. I blinked my eyes after realizing they were open so wide and closed my gaping mouth. I tried to smile playfully but ended up slightly smirking before adjusting myself in the chair.

“I’m… I have…” I tried to start off softly while looking at my engagement ring.

“I’m taken, Chaze.” I didn’t dare look at him as I spoke. I could hear my own disappointment in my voice.

“By Mr. Serious, I know. But you’re my soulmate, Sandra.” I looked up at him and still found his expression was the same. He is serious, and used those words specifically.

“How am I your soulmate if I’m-”

“You feel the pull, don’t you?” He never interrupted me. He always allowed me to speak freely and for however long. This wasn’t just meaningless chatter and he was right. I could feel something drawing me to him.

“You're not just attracted to me, you're drawn to me. My smell, my voice, my heart beat, it all rings in your entire body. We're connected in a way that you're blind to, because you don't know the truth…”

“Shut up!” I realized I whispered that a bit too loud. I just wanted my thoughts to stop buzzing around my mind, it wasn't directed towards him. He was stunned by my words though. I rushed to think of something to say. The truth, how I felt, honesty and bravery were all that came to mind. So I spoke quickly and boldly.

“I like you, Chaze, very much… But Benson and I are-”

“I'm a werewolf…” He did it again, and once again I was left dumbfounded. That was until I blurted out something strange.

“Bah! Haha! He-he.” I quickly covered my mouth as I calmed my snorting laugh. It was only for a moment but I think I drew the attention of everyone in the cafe. Sadly it was not a joke. His expression never changed. Even after my small unexpected outburst, his eyes stayed glued to mine. He was serious.

“Wow, Sandra. That was rude.” I mentally thought and rolled my eyes. As if I wasn't caught off guard by his first statement, his second one was even worse.

“And you're one too.” This wasn't funny anymore. But he wasn't pulling punchlines to begin with. He was serious. He actually believed every word he spoke, I could see the resolve in his eyes. The scary part about this conversation was that I believed him, and I don't know why.

“Hold on. Chaze… You can't be serious. I mean… How is that possible?” This is the only time Chaze made me feel uncomfortable. His answer to my question did something to me. It unlocked a door that I never knew was there nor did I know what was inside. It frightened me because he was absolutely right.

“You were adopted when you were young. Your father tried to raise you because your mother died when she gave birth to you. He couldn't handle it on his own and passed you over to your aunt until someone else came and adopted you… That is what you were told but the truth is your mother raised you for a short time when you were young. This is why you have dreams of her yet supposedly you've never seen her. I know this because you and I used to play with each other when we were young. I remember your mother, and I remember her scent. I remember you, and I can never forget your scent. We're from the same pack… Here.” After shocking me to the core with such truths he backs it up by reaching into his black studded leather jacket and pulling out a photo of two toddlers next to each other.

“Chaze…" I softly whispered as I stared  into the photo. There it was, clear as day. Me as a baby, hugging a very chubby baby version of Chaze, trying to give me a kiss on the cheek. I giggled the more I looked at his clueless baby face. I wiped my tears away and quickly handed back the photo.

“I'm engaged, Chaze, and I don't want to know anything about my past. You can't just come into my life and steal it from me. I'm happy with Benson and who I am now, werewolf or not.” I whispered that last part as I leaned towards him.

“It's not that simple. You see…" My phone buzzed and dinged which made him pause for a moment as I dug out my phone from my purse. It was Benson, wondering what time I was coming home.

“Look, Sandra. Go home and think about what I said. If you're interested to know more, meet me at the club house me and my band practice at. Oh, and bring Mr. Serious too. I wanna know what I'm up against here.” He got up and tossed a few bucks on the table to tip the waiter. His heart warming, heart throbbing, smooth and carefree smile returned.

“Because I meant what I said… Sandra! You're my soooooul mate! Howl!” He didn't just shout that statement to the entire cafe, he sang it as loud as he could repeatedly! Then he proceeded to tell everyone that it was part of his new hit single he was working on as he left. I blushed wildly, despite being called a hag and tramp by his swarming fangirls. The blushing went away as I stared at my phone, looking at Benson’s text. I love him wholeheartedly, but why does my heart feel broken in half? I sighed as I got up and made my way out of the cafe. I had a lot to tell Benson, and I wasn't sure if he'd take me seriously or not. There was only one way to find out. I prepared a speech for him and practiced it over and over again.

Chaze:

“That went well… Sorta.”

“Master Chaze, did everything go as planned?” I looked up and jerked a bit as Nicolas addressed me. He always had a weird habit of appearing right in front of me, most of the time I had to stop myself from bumping into him.

“Not really. I mean, she took it better than I thought.”

“But you failed to tell her the real reason why you need her at your side.” He was listening in on us. One of the many perks we werewolves have, advance hearing. I rolled my eyes as I motioned that I was going to get into the limo. He opened the door as he always did and closed it for me. I wish his actions were for the sake of my rockstar life. Honestly he’d pamper me regardless if I was rich, hell, he’d do it if I was dirt poor. The clothes, the limo, the money I used to get this band up and running, it was all from him. You would swear he was my father, or, you would swear he was my butler. In fact, he is the beta of our pack. He swore to my mother that he would protect me no matter what. Even if it meant removing me from being alpha by force, so he says.

“Nick, I can’t just spill everything out for her from the start. I’d freak her out or something.”

“Master Chaze… You’ve had several months to tell her. All this time you’ve gotten close to her and you never told her anything until now. You do know that a relationship is not required for the-”

“I know, Nick! I know… I just don’t want to do things that way. I’d rather use our bond than treat her like some tool. Got it?” Nick paused for a second, maybe longer. I could see him looking at me through the rearview mirror.

“Yes, Master Chaze… Very well.” He fixed his eyes back on the road but I could tell something was bothering him. I sighed as I slouched in the back seat. Some of my favorite drinks were lined up for me on the other side. I thought about taking one but the taste of coffee that lingered in my mouth would ruin it.

“Shall I update you on what our recon team found out about the Anubis pack?” I growled softly as I didn’t want to be bothered with it.

“You are the alpha of this pack, Master Chaze. It is important that you know everything-”

“Nick, please. Just stop for a second and relax. You’re killing my vibe and injecting me with negative feeds, man. I don’t want to know-”

“Regardless of your feelings at this moment, child, you are the head of this pack and you need to start acting like it.”

“Pull over…” I growled to show my dominance. Clearly we were both heated and needed to blow some steam off. I know what my bug was up my ass, what was his? Calling me a damn child was not the way to treat this alpha.

“I don’t care what sappy-sob story promise you made to my mother, you have NO right calling me a child. Got it!”

“Shall we handle this outside then, child. It seems you have something to prove since you are the alpha. I suggest we beat each other to a pulp and figure out what is really bugging us. That is how your generation handles things nowadays, correct? Instead of being civil you select violence. After all, what do I know? I’m just an old man who leads this pack to victory and stamps your name on it so you remain where you are.”

“What the hell is your deal, man!” Seriously! What in the world was he trying to prove by attacking me like this? Sure, we had arguments and disagreements, but this was something else. Was he seriously looking for another fight, an actual physical werewolf fight?

“I’ve been on this earth for a very long time, Master Chaze. I’ve been in many wars, fought demons and angels alike. I’ve brawled with creatures of immense power, beings that can do far greater things than we can, all the while ensuring the safety of this pack, because they are my family. Now, I sit as the second in command by choice while I watch you run this pack off the cliff and into oblivion. But because I made a vow, Master Chaze, not a promise but a vow. I sit here under your rule to keep you safe from the horrors that I know are coming. I am in this position because I choose to be, yet the pack all know who is the quarterback and who is the coach. There is a great danger moving upon us and you sit there pretending to not care! So to make you care, maybe I should show you my true strength, and actually beat you this time… Not to worry, Master Chaze, no other pack members are around. It’ll be our little secret when you lose to me…”

I had no words. Although that ‘little’ bit was a jab at my transformation size. I’m considered small for my werewolf size. But because of my size and my awesome strength I’m able to move fast and hit hard. This is why no one was able to beat me in my pack. Well, apparently someone is able to beat me. I had a feeling Nicolas was holding back. I can’t believe he’d actually let me win. But why? Why would he do something so absurd if he honestly felt like he could run this pack better than me? Then it hit me. That damn promise he made.

“You knew what type of person I would be as an alpha. You let me win so I can keep the pack from fighting and expanding our territory. You knew I didn’t care about fights or who is the stronger pack, none of that stuff means anything to me. My lazy ass doesn’t want to lift a finger when it comes to this stuff, and you agree with this only to keep me and the pack out of harm's way… Thanks, asshole.” That got him to smirk. It helped that I said it playfully after realizing the great lengths he went to achieve all of this.

“Having said that, don’t ever call me a child again… Seriously, I’m a grown ass man, Nick. Start treating me like one and you’ll see MY true strength. Got it?” Of course I’d have the last words. I’m the damn alpha of this pack.

“Yes, Master Chaze.” He started driving once more as I relaxed a bit. His uptight posture seemed to loosen up a bit as well.

“Now, tell me what's going on with these Anubis bastards.” More delight can be seen on his face.

“This very crisis we face is the very thing I thought we’d be able to avoid by having you as our alpha. However, this is different. The recon team has confirmed my suspicions. They are planning the ritual and need Sandra for it. My plan to keep her scent concealed has been working so far. Between your scent and our girls from this pack acting like your groupies, we’ve been able to mask her scent pretty well. Since she is a part of this pack her scent doesn’t differ from the other girls. Also, exchanging clothes and being around her co-workers who are also a part of this pack makes sensing her more difficult.” Boy did he like to hear himself talk. Especially when it's a plan of his that worked like a charm.

“Yeah, I feel bad for burning down her old place though.” I ruffled my hair to try and get that image out of my head. She was so devastated when she came to her home from work, only to find her place in ashes.

“The Anubis pack was closing in on her, it was necessary.” These are the moments that remind me how scary Nicolas can be. He just said it like it was nothing. But, he was right. That was the closest they’ve ever been to finding her. However, they’re getting closer again.

“You mentioned reaching out to other packs for help… Do you really think something like that will work?”

“Yes, Master Chaze. I do believe so… And for the record, the actual word I used was tribe.”

“Right, tribe, whatever. You and your old ways of saying and doing things.” I’m glad he smirked at that comment. I sensed we were nearing the club house. I decided to be silent and focus on my task at hand. If Nicolas was right about all this then we were in big trouble. He said he was going to explain the seriousness of the situation later on tonight. Hopefully I’ll actually pay attention and start being the alpha this pack needs me to be.

Sandra:

“Well. Say something…” He wasn’t reacting to anything I just told him. Benson was just standing there, chopping something up to cook for our dinner. I told him everything, Chaze knowing who I was, the werewolf thing, even the part about Chaze clamming me as his. None of this bothered him.

“It makes sense now that I think about it… You shave your legs more than other women. Must be a werewolf thing…” He’s joking. He is actually joking around with that innocent smirk of his! God he drives me crazy!

“Benson… Some wild-man rockstar said he was going to take me from you and all you can think about is my legs!”

“I wasn’t sure which part you wanted me to react to the most. I’m not worried about some puppy dog trying to bark his way into our relationship… However, you howling at the moon may be a little off putting during certain activities we indulge in at night.”

“Benson! I swear to God this is not funny!”

“I already knew…” There it is. That low and serious voice that turns me on. It tells my whole body to listen and even obey every word. Having said that, I fought back against that urge because of what he said. He already knew? Which part?

“From the moment I met you, I already knew what you were. I was surprised to figure out you didn’t know what you were. Even now, I simply believed you gave up that aspect of your life, which is not something that is easily done for our kind… To live as humans do, unaware of the truth that sits before their eyes. I never brought it up because I had no reason to. Why stir the water when it remains calm and peaceful.” He knew this whole time. I’ve spent years living with him and not once was this ever mentioned. For years he has been keeping the truth about me AND himself locked up tight.

“How could you do that? How could you let me live a lie and think that it would be okay? Why wouldn’t you tell me!”

“Several months ago I realized you didn’t know anything about what you really are. My father confirmed it for me some time ago. You see, I was kept in the dark, just like you. When I learned the truth I was told to keep it from you. My father, who is a member of your pack, told me not to say anything. He said one day Chaze would inform you of the truth. So, I obeyed my father and remained silent, even though it bothered me to do so.” At this point my mind was filled with way more information than I wanted. I didn’t know where to begin or which part of this explanation I was supposed to be more upset about. I tried to recall my knowledge of werewolves and how their packs work from the library of books I’ve read. Maybe that was his way of hinting to me that I was one of them, getting all those books and suggesting that I read a few of them.

“You're not part of my pack, are you…” I can't believe I just said our pack. This is becoming more real and scary at the same time. Benson shook his head no, confirming that I was right. Isn't this taboo or something? Is that why Chaze is trying to sweep me away?

“Even though we're not from the same pack, you still took the risk to be with me.”

“More than you know…”

“Why? Why go through that for me?”

“My heart yearns for what it wants… Some call it fate, others call it soulmates, whichever term you agree upon the fact of the matter is… I love you. Werewolf or not, you'll always be my priceless ruby… So I took Beyonce’s advice and put a ring on it.” Haha! I couldn't help myself and laughed. He really did just end that smooth speech with a line from a song. And not just any song, but one of my daily-listen-to songs. He truly loves me. And I deeply love him back.

“However…” Of course! There is always something else to kill the mood. If we weren't heading out soon I would have grabbed him by the shirt and showed him how wild and wolf-like I can really be!

“Chaze seeks a partnership with you for another reason.”

“Let me guess, I'm some queen or Luna thing to him because we're in the same pack. Right?” I was only partly confident in my words. By the look he was giving me I can tell I said something stupid. I was just trying to fit into this new world I'm now thrown into.

“Something similar to… That… Either way, you're more important than you think.”

“Of course I am, I'm your moon goddess, now obey me my loyal subject." My seductive voice forced him to blush. I don't know why but I was extremely horny. I can tell he noticed. Unbuttoning my blouse definitely helped kick the mood back into play. Now knowing what I am I can smell Benson's scent. It just pulls me right in like an eating frenzy.

“Why don't we have a little session right now. We still have time before we have to leave… Let me unleash this wolf within me… Benson, come make me howl.” As if I needed to go that far to get him to submit to me. He didn't say much after I whispered that line. Next then I knew, we took our clothes off and had one of the best sessions we've had in a while. Even while taking a shower we managed to do it again… And again… Then we took a proper shower and dressed for this meet up with Chaze. Of course we were going to be late, but I didn't care… Not until we were getting closer to the club. Then my heart started to race. What was I getting myself into…

Once we arrived we made our way into the club house. Chaze was already waiting for us. I slowed down my walking pace as I saw some of my co-workers off to the side. They waved with glee, as if a burden had been lifted and they no longer needed to keep this werewolf thing a secret from me. It then dawned on me. After recalling my conversation with Benson on why he never told me what I was, I started to quicken my pace towards Chaze.

“Sandra! I was getting a little-” *Slap!*

“Hey!! Back off hussy!” One of his fangirls growled and lunged at me after I slapped their ‘precious’ rockstar. I instinctively lunged back but was pulled away by Benson’s arm as he wrapped it around my waist. I didn’t realize how strong and secure his grip was. Then again, he never had to stop me from beating the mess out of some little tramp. Chaze somehow managed to do the same to the other girl. However, he only had two arms and managed to stop two of them. Luckily for the rest of them, a man that looked very similar to Benson stood between me and the rest of the girls. Regardless of this man’s interference, I could see out of the corner of my eye that my co-workers were about to give me a hand in kicking their tails. It was good to know that I had connections within this pack, even though I’ve never actually been a part of this pack until now… Still deciding actually.

“You told them not to tell me! All this time, our hangouts, meetings, walks, lunches, everything! You lied to me! And, you had some of my closest friends also lie to me!”

“We’re sorry Sandra. We were just following orders…”

“Please forgive us. And also Chaze, he had a very good reason.” Of course I wasn’t mad at my friends. I’m glad I could express that to them but what ‘good reason’ could there be for lying to me?

“Yeah, about that…” It was at that moment I felt bad for slapping him. Then again I doubt it did anything to him since he didn’t even wince from it, nor did he rub it off like it hurt. He just kept smirking at me as if he knew he deserved it.

“Actually, I am the one to blame. I made the suggestion and Chaze decided to follow it. He was greatly conflicted on what to do. So, he asked me, and then decided to take the advice of his beta.” The man turned around to face me as he spoke. After dropping the two girls on the floor without a care, Chaze joined the man and placed his hand on his shoulder.

“Nicolas… I thought we just spoke about this kind of crap, man. You don’t have to take the heat for everything. In the end, it was my decision.”

“And as I already explained to you, Sandra. My father was the one who decided it was best for you to not know… I’m just curious as to why he waited until now. Care to explain?” After Benson spoke everything suddenly got quiet. The chatter around us came to a complete stop as our shocked expressions all beamed on Benson and Nicolas.

“Shit! What the fu-”

“This is your father!” I didn’t know Chaze was going to speak when I did. But we both had the same idea, we just decided to express them differently. Looking at them from afar you couldn’t tell. Now that they were standing closer to each other the resemblance was spot on. There were only four differences between the two of them. Benson had long hair that reached down to his shoulders tied in a low ponytail. Nicolas was darker in sink color, and their hair and eyes were different colors. Other than that, their posture, demeanor, their expression, and neary their voices all matched up.

“You never told me you had a son!”

“You never asked.” Nicolas replied rather quickly, smirking as he did. It was like he was waiting for a very long time to shoot that line out. However, Chaze wasn’t smirking back. He just kept eying Benson like he was his enemy.

“He isn’t one of us, is he?” I could hear a low growl in his voice when he spoke. I don’t know much about werewolves and different packs but this was obviously a bad thing. Not only was Benson from a different pack, from my understanding, but he was also engaged to me. I could see now how badly Chaze wanted me.

“No, Master Chaze… He isn’t… In fact-”

“Shut the hell up!” He barked as he started to take his jacket off. Everyone started to move away from us as he continued to take off his shirt.

“Master Chaze. I don’t think this course of action is wise… Please, do not-”

“Why! Cause he’s your son! Well I’m about to kick his ass! Tell this asshole to get ready!” I couldn’t believe my eyes. Chaze was not only removing his shirt, but also his boots and pants. I blushed deeply, but for some reason didn't look away. His body was so delicious... I caught myself drooling a bit as I covered my mouth in reaction to ogling over him. I was slightly disappointed that the only thing he didn’t take off was his boxer briefs. If I had to guess, I’d say that he was about to transform into his werewolf form.

“Do you do that every time you're about to change?” Clearly Benson was mocking him. Chaze didn’t like that at all as he growled loudly. He wasn’t just mocking him, he was mocking him in front of his entire pack.

“If you need to know, asshole, those clothes are expensive… I’m simply being courteous to the man who bought them for me. Oh yeah, that was your dad, bitch.” This was ripping my heart apart. Chaze was insulting my dear love, but he was doing it with such a bad-boy attitude that it turned me on. On the other hand, Benson wasn’t even trying to be an ass, yet his insults were so clever and civil. And yes, that was also a turn on.

“Right… Because a child still needs someone to hold his hand…” Whatever that was supposed to mean, it struck a nerve within Chaze. His first balled up so tight as his body flexed every muscle. And then it happened. Suddenly Chaze howled as he jerked his head back, The sound was loud and piercing. It forced me to close my eyes for a second as I slightly covered my ears. Apparently everyone else was used to it because I was the only one to react this way. Suddenly his entire body ignited in flames. My eyes widen in fear as I’ve never seen a werewolf change before. I’ve read numerous books about werewolves, and none of them ever talked about this. Within seconds the flames shrunk and became fur. Most of his body was covered in red fur.

Oddly enough he was still standing upright. In fact, he looked very much like a human, like a human-wolf if that makes sense. His ears were pointed and long, he had a tail that softly swayed back and forth. His fingers produced claws and his hands were ever so slightly bare. His torso was mostly covered in fur except for his delicious abs and pecs. Hell, if they were any bigger they would surpass my d-cup breast, minus the soft pillow shape. His pecs were firm and tight! His face didn’t change much. His mouth protruded into a muzzle like shape which changed his nose, but over all his face looked very human. Thicker eyebrows and a larger brow in general. His juicy lips displayed sharp K-9 fangs as he smirked with arrogance. The biggest change was his legs, which were now back hind legs like a wolf.

Yet again, disappointment settled in for a second. I mean, I don’t know how they do it, but I gave his crotch a long look to see what the situation was down there. Even though his boxer briefs ripped during the transformation, I still couldn’t see a damn thing! I would imagine though, if everything else is bigger…

Speaking of his height, and his entire body, I would say he was about eight feet tall. The least would be seven and a half. I thought werewolves were taller than that, from what I’ve read of course. Hell, what do I really know about such things? All of this is still new to me.

“Not very tall for a werewolf…” Well that confirmed my thoughts. Either that or Benson was still trying to get under his skin… And fur…

“Big talk from the bitch still in his human form… What, scared?”

“Benson, please… Don’t kill him.”

“Nicolas!! What the hell! Who’s side are you on!”

“He’s my son. Or did you forget that part?”

“I don’t give a shit!” A flash of light erupted from Chaze as he shouted. His fur became flames. Yet, his body wasn’t being burned. At this point, I realized I must have been reading the wrong damn books about werewolves. Nothing about this scene right in front of me was covered in anything I’ve looked over.

“I mean it, do not kill him.”

“God-damn it Nicolas! Are you TRYING to piss me off! I am standing right here!!”

“I’m trying to save your life, Master Chaze. I already told you to not do this. However, you’ve made up your mind. Apparently my son is just as hard headed as you, seeing as he isn’t going to back down from this challenge.”

“Shut the hell up and fight me!!” It was amazing, I could feel the heat coming from his flames. It wasn’t scorching, but definitely noticeable depending on how much heat he was producing. Nicolas sighed and shook his head lightly. He gently linked arms with me and escorted me away from Benson. This is when fear swept over me. This whole time I was paying attention to Chaze but I didn’t bother to look at Benson. When I did, I feared for my life. I’ve never seen Benson look this way before. I couldn’t tell if it was hate or something else. It was such a calm fury. I looked around and noticed everyone felt the same way. They were all focusing on Benson. He was scaring me and he hadn’t even changed yet. Nicolas was deeply worried. So much so that he decided to plead with Benson for a third time.

“Benson, we need him-”

“For the love of God!! Hoooowl!!” Chazed moved with such speed. But he only managed to take three or four steps before he leaped back in fear. A bright bolt of lightning came out of nowhere and struck Benson. The strong wind that came from his transformation nearly blew me away if I wasn’t still linked to Nicolas’s arm. I quickly looked up at Benson and couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought I knew fear when looking at him before, but now…

“What the hell…” Chaze took the words right out of my mouth. Benson wasn’t a wolf. He was a lion. A yellow lightning based lion with electricity bouncing all around his body. He towered over Chaze when it came to comparing their height. There wasn’t much of a difference as far as the fur to human skin ratio went. Obviously he looked more cat-like than dog-like. His ears were shaped differently, and his eyes were most definitely cat-like compared to Chaze’s wolf eyes. His long lion tail flopped on the ground. His hind legs looked bigger and longer. Everything about Benson looked ten, if not twenty times bigger. As the chatter around me started to rise I overheard one of the pack members state that he was bigger than any werewolf alive, period. After such a display of power you would think Chaze would have gotten the hint. I knew he wouldn’t just back down though. His entire pack was watching of course.

“I’ll kill you…” After his growling insult Chaze rushed him again. My heart was beating so fast I couldn’t hear anything else. That was until Chaze screamed with such agony that my heart stopped completely. I didn’t even see Benson move! I blinked and suddenly his fist was thrust into Chaze’s stomach, lifting him off the ground like he was nothing but a feather! The fight ended horribly as Benson used his other fist to pound it into his face. I’ve never seen someone drop to the floor so fast with such a loud thud. I thought he was dead. I could tell Chaze was still breathing, barely.

And just like that it was over. Benson beat Chaze with two punches. Just looking at them two was like looking at a god staring down a mere mortal, even though they were both transformed. But, what was Benson? Clearly he wasn’t a werewolf.  I believe I’m smart enough to figure that out.

“Pack members of the Ruby Werewolf Tribe.” Nicolas started off as he released my arm and joined his enormous son.

“I present to you my son, King of the Lightning Pride Lions.”

Benson:[Flash Back]“So this is your new home… It suits you, both of you.” This was the first time I invited my father over to my new house. I got engaged to Sandra not too long ago. We purchased a house of our own, for several reasons that she wouldn’t understand at the moment. My father wanted to see our house, but I had a feeling he wanted to talk about Sandra again. Since I met her and figured out what she really was he wouldt always mention her. Having said that, he always reminded me not to tell her, since it seemed like she didn’t know herself.“You’re not telling me something… I don’t care if I’m not a part of that tribe, but she is going to be my wife and I need her to trust me with everything. That includes knowing what she truly is.”

Sandra: After Benson’s dramatic closing speech we took time to break and blow some steam off. My friends helped me clothe myself once I shifted back into a human. It felt strange. I didn’t know which was more normal, standing on four legs or on two. As they covered me up while I got dressed we began talking and catching up. It was like another day after work. “Ruby, you looked so beautiful!” “Your fur was gleaming! Pure awesomeness!” They continued on with their compliments. I was deeply blushing but also annoyed. I didn’t like this much attention. Even more so since I’m new to this whole thing. I bet they are just as beautiful when they shift. “Ruby?” Chaze decided to break away from his band members and fan girls to ta

Chaze:I was rubbing my wrist from the light rope burn of being tied up. I forgot that Kane was there to fake a kidnapping. I think he rough-housed me for the fun of it. You know, pick on the little brother type deal. Whatever… As I sat there thinking about what we told Ruby I was starting to wonder if we should tell her everything. After all she did just find out that she isn’t human. Not only is she a shape shifter but a rare breed as well. While she was busy getting dressed in another room I sat here with Kane while we waited. I didn’t like that we were in Vampire Tribe territory but somehow Kane managed to regain their trust and sneak them into his fold, right under his father’s nose. If there was one person who we all should be afraid of, it's Kane.“Hey, Kane.” I called while staring at the ground. He replied with a qu

Kane:After our little venture to Chaze’s nightclub, I met up with Kyle when he called me and said he was done. He reported that the Ruby Wolf Pack were pretty much done for. Only about fifteen to twenty members were left alive. They were all captured and taken to the opera house. Since he finished so quickly I had him meet me at our favorite cafe for a quick bite. We talked and laughed about his little fight with Benson. We didn’t stay there long and soon arrived at the opera house. The moment we entered the theater we slowed our pace down as two figures stood with their backs to us. The first figure was undoubtedly my father. The second figure was a large man with no shirt on. It took me a moment but I quickly figured out who this giant of a man was.“Ah, my son, Kane.” My father started as he heard us coming towards them. The ot

What I have to tell you will make you mad, with anger and insanity.”“Please, Kane. I rather torture be done properly rather than insults and belittling. Your generation are brutes and self centered. What could possibly-”“Look who is insulting who?” I cut him off as my eyes glared with vengeance rising. To be honest Nicolas hasn’t really done anything to me, per say. I’m here to simply ruin his plan, and possibly get him to stall Benson’s hidden objective.“I won

  • Where Ruby's Heart Belongs   Chapter 7: Confrontation

Kyle:I waited upstairs in the lobby of the opera house. Some of the vampires were getting annoyed that they had to tend and treat the prisoners with some kind of respect. Also, we haven’t tortured anyone. Normally there was some kind of screaming or wailing in pay whenever we captured shifters. Most of them died during such activities but we didn’t care. Most of them entered our territory or we decided to expand ours. Either way, I had to settle them down. Once Kane is done with them then we’ll see what he wants us to do. I’m scary enough but mentioning that Kane was in charge of this round up set them straight. They knew my hands were tied so they didn’t push back too much. They were just tired of waiting and wanted something to do. As we finished up talking I saw Kane and Shela coming from the basement. She was unshackled and jumping up and down like a happy little puppy. M

Kane:Once I made the hole in the floor I leaped down to the lower level. I was unaware of what I’d face so my senses were heightened. Chaze followed me in his dragon form, first stage. He must have read my mind because I was going to suggest he shift into his third, which he did the moment I thought about it. I also adjusted myself to a smaller version of my first stage of shifting. I wasn’t going to maneuver well as big as I was. It was dark, barely lit from the battle that took place down here. Some lights hung loosely from the ceilings. As we went down the hallways we stumbled upon corpses of both parties, vampires and demons. I can tell by the wounds the one killing the demons was Kyle. Having said that, I also know those markings which killed the vampires. I was hoping it was just all in my mind but, I was doubting it the more we ventured onward.

Gale:[Earlier that day]I never did like visiting Cena’s place of operations. This love resort was a glorified hotel room for horny sex addicts, both shifters and humans alike. It’s like a wasp sting that repeats its action over and over. Nothing comes of it, no pain is gained on my end yet the insect keeps trying to do harm. I don’t have time for such a nuisance but I needed to see Shela about our quest today. As I ventured from the entrance of the resort into the building I can see and feel the pathetic lusting energy swelling from the inside out. I was greeted several times by shifters and humans. They all complimented my ‘cosplay’ as they called it. You see, this love resort was focused on human desires and fantasies coming true. So outfits, costumes, characters and the like were a constant theme. From maids to cowboys, to ali

I fixed my posture and ran out into the battle with Anubis at my side. Outside seemed to be winning. However, Ra was regaining his strength as the trio fighting him seemed to be having a tough time landing hits on him. Either that or they were wearing themselves down fighting him.“What about the sun? Won’t he just keep healing himself!” I shouted over the noise of the battle field.“Don’t worry about that, I’ll take care of it! Focus on strengthening the virus! Oh! And before you ask, you’ll know what to do once you reach him. Now go!” He told me. I nodded and raced off as I shifted into my new god-like form of my nine tailed fox. I leaped into the air and landed close to the fight. I could feel the virus flowing within him as I got closer. I felt pain, as if I could feel the virus losing. I quickly reached out m

Ruby:The battle was very intense. I didn’t know how to fight this enemy. I wasn’t sure if I should be fighting at all. I was torn between helping the injured and fighting the swarm of Ra shifters. It became confusing as they started shape shifting into other tribe animals. We quickly figured out that no matter what, they couldn’t get rid of a gold ring on their body somewhere. Either on their arms, legs, around their neck, in their hair, somehow or another this gold ring appeared on their body. Very cocky for a god to have his underlings represent him no matter what. I felt like I wasn’t helping the fight. Either I help save the ones that were hurt, which means more get hurt because I’m not getting rid of the swarm. Or I fight Ra’s army and let those that get injured die. Before I could make a decision Anubis found his way to me.

Kyle:“So wait, you guys are siblings?” Chaze asked Lero and Cena. They both shook their heads no.“I’m an offspring of Anubis and she is an offspring of Bastet. Bastet raised us both but we’re not related. At times Anubis acted like a father to both of us and Bastet was a mother to us both. What is even more confusing, is that there are those that believe Bastet is Anubis’s mother.” Lero explained, which didn’t sound like an explanation, just more bullshit Anubis would sprout to keep everyone confused.“Some thought she was his sister too. In fact, Sopdet is his sister. There was a time when she took the name Bastet in her honor.” I looked in the rearview mirror at Cena and Lero. I was confused as to why she would do such a thing. Unless…

Meanwhile I have helped in their cause, yet I feel I owe the Atlanteans a lot.“Hey, in a few seconds this copy of mine will fade into nothing. I didn’t create a permanent one, knowing I’d need all my strength to fight off Levi and his brother.” “So you’re leaving me alone to fight four Atlanteans.” I asked Kane after he spoke. Or rather, his copy, apparently.“No, I’m leaving you to fight two of them. Jackson and Galant should be on your side. I trust Jackson enough to persuade his brother to fig

Sandra:It seemed like the battle would never end. Either that or I was really out of shape. We made little progress through the warehouse. I could still see the entrance of the facility. By this time I figured out that Kane was just stalling. He knew we couldn’t fight the entire Lero army waiting for us. Yes, there were others working for him but once they were dealt with Lero kept spawning his ugly face over and over. Good thing Chaze got me used to fighting in my second stage of shifting. Otherwise I’d be in a lot of trouble right now.“Isn’t there a limit to this thing!” I shouted to Kane who was taking on a horde of Leros across the way.“Not really! As long as he paces himself he can keep making them! Having said that, he is slowing down his production which means he is gett

  • Where Ruby's Heart Belongs   Chapter 32: The Real One

Chaze:It took some time but we arrived at the location Kane gave us. It looked like a small building, like an office. A one room office in the middle of an abandoned factory. There were no guards. Not a single soul to sense or see. It was strange. As we got out, we looked around and inspected the building’s surroundings to make sure it was safe to enter. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Everything seemed okay. This bothered me since I was expecting a hell of a lot more fighting and protection.“Come on, let's head inside.” Kyle suggested as we slowly made our way to the door. It was unlocked as Kyle simply opened it and slowly peeked in. He carefully walked in and dropped his guard as he shook his head and sighed.“Nothing… There isn’t anything or anyone here.” He growe

I knew what he was doing, I just didn’t know why. What was the point of all this?“Why are you doing this? Why go against me?” I asked him as he took a bit of time to catch his breath.“I could ask you the same thing. After all, we’re the same person, right?”“Clearly we’re not. You may be a part of me but we’re completely different. The fact that you waited this long to switch sides has to mean somethi

Jackson:My parking lot brawl with Ronin was becoming boring. We both were evenly matched, so he believed. Honestly I was testing his might. Back in the day I heard he was ruthless and powerful. Now, time has changed the chimera and most likely weakened his heart and fighting prowess. His son on the other hand, Rin. He was proving to be a strong warrior. Only he wasn’t fighting yet. Gale was fighting one of the dragon kings, I forget his name but it doesn’t matter I suppose. Either way, once I noticed how much damage we’ve done already I shifted back into my human form which confused the spider. He shifted into his human form as well, which still shrouded him in mystery as his entire body was covered in a long dark green cloak. It almost looked black from how faded and used it was. The hood draped down over his face. You could barely see his chin. I wondered how he could see like that. Th

Sandra:It was amazing! The two beings trapped in that egg thing were gods! I mean, Leviathan and Behemoth! I always imaged them differently but, this was amazing to see up close and in person! Of course, things only escalated really quickly. A humongous spider suddenly lands on the floating orb. It violently shook as the spider clung on. I’ve seen plenty of spiders in my days, but this thing was going to give me nightmares for the rest of my life!“Caesar! You’re up!” Kane’s mighty and powerful voice boomed. Chaze’s father quickly leaped high into the air and shifted into the biggest dark blue and white dragon I’ve ever seen! His roar shook the entire stadium as the spider adjusted itself on the orb. Gallant and Jackson soon shifted and were also colossal sized. Gallant was a giant octopus while Jackson was a nine tail
