Chapter IV: Hickey

Veronica's:

 My brows were creased while I'm driving, heading to the company. I can't believe that kind of man is existing. That spoiled brat kid is now getting on my nerves.

[Flashback]

I raise my brow after what he whispered to me. I thought I'm the only one who heard that because It was only a whisper but I think his parents heard it.

They fake a cough that made me glance at them in instant. I don't want them to think anything.

"Uh, Are you guys-

" No, Mrs. Varstendum.We're strangers and I'm not into having a relationship with someone"

I uttered and cut her sentence because I know what she was going to ask. It looks so defensive but it's alright, I'm stating a fact anyway.

I got shocked when he immediately when pulled my arm that's why I got close about inches to him. He pinched my arm when I was about to go away.

"Nah, She's just shy, Mom and Dad but she's my girlfriend,"

He said the opposite of what I said, he's stopping himself to burst out a laugh.  

 I remain looking at that man wondering what he's doing because I'm getting irritated by now. Mr. and Mrs. Varstendum were looking at us and the confusion is in their eyes. I hold the man's arm tightly and smile at his parents.        

 "Excuse us, please"

I said trying to hold my irritation. What the hell is he doing?!

They both nodded starting to doubt us but I already pull the guy outside to avoid their queries. I wore my cold eyes as I stand in front of him. His irritating smile shows again that's why I can't help but to furrowed my brows. 

"What the hell, Mr. Are you messing up with me?"

I calmly ask but the irritation is so obvious in my voice. I sighed heavily and glance at my wristwatch. I still have a meeting that's why I can't waste a time. I face him up and what he was doing was just staring at me all the time. He's tripping me!                

 "Nevermind. I still have a meeting and to clear all that have you done"

I murmured and turned around to walk away but I'm just having two steps when someone pulls me back which causes my back to lean in one of the cars.

The first thing I see is his brown eyes, which make him look more attractive. His pointed nose, down to his pinkish lips. I stopped my eyes when I reached his neck.                

 "What are you staring at?"

He whispers but I remain glancing in his eyes and look away after. Why do I feel an electric shock when he holds my hand? Probably, I'm just wiped out. He was glimpsing at me when I turned my gazes at him. What's happening to you, Veronica?        

"You have..."

I can't say what I wanted to say! It's not normal for me to see that. I mean, it's not that big deal but seeing him have that kind of mark led me to feel uncomfortable.            

 "What?"

He asked cluelessly while his one brow was raised. I open my mouth to utter something but I chose to close it again.

I look at his neck and I know he has a clue already what I wanted to say but he remains to wait with teasing eyes.        

"You have a hickey on your neck"

I quickly uttered and he stares at me for a long time before he chuckles.                        

 "You're so cute"

He said between his chuckles but I just stare at him with my cold eyes.

A compliment from him is disgusting

I'm so sure that I'm not the only one he complimented to this day. He looks like a playboy and I think he's so proud of it. Heaven is a playboy but he never lets me see a kiss mark on his neck whenever he's visiting me.        

 "I need to go now, Mr."

I changed the topic and I saw the shock in his eyes after he complimented me and I didn't even have a reaction.

I don't have time for him so I push him and walk away. I'm not that far away from him when he holds my arm for the second time.        

"What?"

I annoyingly asked but he answered me with chuckles instead. His face is so irritating. It's my first time getting irritated that much with a person.                

"Why you're always annoyed?"

He said while trying to suppress his laugh.        

"What do you want?"

Instead of answering his question. I questioned him. Why this guy can't let me go, didn't he know how much time I wasted just for his nonsense utterances? He smiled at me.                

"You seem so young. Are you the secretary of Ms. Molina?"

He murmured while confused. His brows are furrowed while staring at me.            

"Oh"

I uttered and look away. I forgot to introduce myself. I smiled at him sarcastically and offer my hand to do shakes hand.               

"I'm Veronica, Veronica Aisle Molina, Mr. Varstendum"

He glanced at me, and the shock registered on his face before he accepts my hand. He can't get over and he's still staring at me.    

 "You're so young to be the CEO. Are you sure that you are?"

He asked in a teasing way. I rolled my arms and didn't answer him anymore. I walk away but I felt that he was still watching me. I gritted my teeth because of my annoyance.

I don't want to see him again!            

    [End of Flashback]                                                                                                                                       

"Geraldine"

I uttered her name after I answered her call. I'm now in the parking lot of the company and was about to open the driver's seat when Geraldine called that's why I chose to answer the call first.                    

"Where the hell are you now?"

Geraldine asked in the other line. My brows furrowed and planning to ask why she was asking where I am when I remember something.        

 "Fvck"

I cursed at myself. I forgot about my sister because I was annoyed with that guy.

Damn, it's his fault.  

 I started to open the engine while my phone is still on call.      

"Pardon me, Geraldine. I forgot. Where are you guys now?"

I apologized because I bothered her and wasted her time waiting for me for how many hours. I  check if the call was still going when I didn't receive an answer from her.                 

"Geraldine"

I called while I'm looking in the way, afraid that I get into an accident that's why I remain focused in front.        

"Oh sorry, wait. What's your question again?"

She asked and I heard her deep sigh.      

"Where are you now?"

I asked and stop the car when it shows red light.         

"We're in Heaven's condo because that's the place where you are convenient to go"

She answered while I'm hearing footsteps and the door opens.                     

"I'm on my way. Give me five minutes"

She ended the call that's why I put my earpiece down and look at the road straight.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Hensley?"

I immediately scolded her when I step inside Heaven's condo.

She sitting on the couch in the living area and was about to close her eyes because of her dizziness when I yelled.

I walk towards her while she's looking at me using her wide eyes. I bite my lip to suppress what I'm feeling right now. My heart is beating so fast.

I'm so worried about her! 

It's her first-time drinking

"Calm down, Veronica"

Geraldine answered, she was holding two glasses of water.

She gave the other glass to Hensley who's currently holding her head now because of her dizziness. Geraldine turned her head on me after Hensley accepted the drink. I thought she was going to give me the other one but she drinks it by herself.

I smirked sarcastically when she chuckles, teasing me.

"I'm not here to play around, Geraldine"

My voice is quite calm now that's why I cross my arm while peeking at my sister. She's avoiding my gazes afraid of my glances.

"I know, Just be calm, okay? Your sister is okay now"

Geraldine uttered and pointed to Hensley, she looks alright now, and probably because of my yell she got sober a bit.

Why did she drink anyway?

"Let's go home"

I uttered when I realize that It was past midnight now and they need to rest.

Hensley lazily gets her purse while looking at my side with sleepy eyes

She can't look at me directly, didn't she?

"Let's go, I will go now also. I still have a class for tomorrow"

Geraldine said out of nowhere. I've thought she's in the kitchen, how she can go here that fast.

"I'm still talking to you, Hensley. We need to talk"

I calmly uttered even though my patience for her is so thin already. I close the door of the driver's seat and follow her inside the house.

She was about to step down the stairs when I hold her arm.

"I said, we need to talk Hensley"

I uttered for the second time but her emotionless face gave me shock and confusion. I hold her arm but she steps backward. She shook her head.

"For what?"

She asked while looking at me as if I ridiculously asked her. I raised my brow and glance at her directly through her eyes but one thing that made me shocked is she didn't avoid her gaze on me this time.

"Why did you drink, huh? What if Geraldine didn't see you there? I'm pretty sure that Mom and Dad will get mad at me if ever something bad happens to you"

I stand up bravely and glare at her. There's no use in being kind always. You must stand up bravely always so you can get what's the respect you expected.

Hensley is not a headache to the family, I just noticed lately that she's changing. Is it because of her friends? 

"And When you got a friend? You didn't have any friends, Hensley"

I asked confused. She sarcastically chuckles while looking at me.

"Since when, you got to care for me? You're not like that, Nica"

She sarcastically uttered that making me stop like a statue and realized what she said.

Is it my fault?I avoided her gaze
